How do we attract more members to this Forum?

Perhaps some might consider making their avatars look more people friendly? -
Agree the clean out of the last 2 - 3 years had to happen and though it might have caused some pain, we will benefit in the long run. Getting Alex Neal-Bullen will be a bonus too.

Robbo must be on holidays aka lying paralytic on the Murray's bank somewhere near Echuca no doubt

Perhaps the fact that the Bombers have been barred from the hearing is also related to the lack of leaks from the Tribunal?

Moonbeam McSwine. What a delightful temptress!

All four of those mentioned played under Daniher. Where were they?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Freddy Fuschia replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
Will we ever know? The Saints have so many weaknesses to cover and more of their good players set to see the end of their careers soon, I don't think they even know where to start. My friends who support the club have been insisting their priority is to prepare to replace Riewoldt and would have been happy with McCartin or Wright. Now they're saying Petracca but nobody is suggesting a key defender. Also I dont know how it works but Sydney delisted Membrey which made him available for the Saints (sidewise he's not that different to Petracca but less likely to play in the middle). If Frost didn't have a contract, would he not have been delisted by GWS? -
If anyone attends the training session next week and films it for you tube, they're at least a little bit wiser as to the musical background. One thing that interests me is the physical shape of the players when they return which is always an indication of how seriously they've been working in the off period and always a good pointer to their attitude going forward. Stef Martin was a good example one year when he looked much bigger and stronger and really turned it on one year till injured. They also did it at Essendon a couple of years ago and won about nine in a row to start the season. I could never figure out how they did that.

Casey Scorpions - the off season
Freddy Fuschia replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Your comment is not quite right. Casey did make the finals in both seasons during which Neeld was coach and in fact finished top four in after the home and away series in each year (top in 2012) with their problem being lack of available AFL listed players due to injuries. This year they suffered more through injuries throughout the club and had a lack of depth through their VFL list. Welsh did coach them to the finals in his first year.I'm not sure what Roos' policy was with Casey in 2014. It seemed more a case of him not caring because we had a lot of our own players there who he obviously wasn't impressed with going by the recent delisted players. I'm struggling to come up with more than one player there who showed any improvement there apart from James Harmes.- 129 replies

NOW THAT IT'S OVER ... (revived thread from 2009)
Freddy Fuschia replied to Parma's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good point, especially the one about injuries. I know that we've bagged Prendergast mercilessly and some of his selections were hopeless but look at our early draft picks of 2008/9. Blease, Strauss and Trengove all had leg/foot fractures, Tapscott and Gysberts had problems getting right physically, Max had a second ACL and Fitzy was diagnosed a diabetic. On top of that, Scully had problems with a knee that hindered his second season before he was eventually stolen from under our noses by the AFL to serve as a (giggle, giggle) marketing tool for its new franchise in the Sydney wastelands. Strangely enough, the AFL article really didn't go into this and I wonder how its dream team might have gone had it been afflicted by injuries and thrown into a losing culture where hard work wasn't a priority? -
You would hope that we really do have a competent recruiting team these days even if we didn't in the past. If Laverde is on our radar (and based on his record for Vic Metro and the TAC Cup, he probably is) then our recruiting team and our scouts would no doubt have considered all of these things and summed up his attributes carefully. The days of taking a punt on a top three selection are well and truly over and we especially need to get things right. Brayshaw and Laverde would give us a very good mix of midfield player to add to Stretch. I hope we take a mid at 40 as well.

Not much but we did get Jack Fitzpatrick from there.

Robinson was voted most likely in his class to end up in gaol. At least he'll get his no bruise-free wish if he does end up there.

THE BREATH OF LIFE - DRAFT ASSISTANCE
Freddy Fuschia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
There has to be some concern when a Marl Evans who was previously employed by Melbourne and then Hawthorn is the one charged with the task of deciding whether to recommend on the MFC application. Did something happen during his time at either club that might cause bias? Why has he discussed the possible outcome publicly? Can we get a fair hearing? -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Clark for Lumumba sounds like an interesting deal. -
Epic fail at two clubs. Draw your own conclusions from that.

So he's related to the Lonies who played for Collingwood and Hawthorn.

Pretty ordinary human being that Ross Lyon. Surely he knew he was discussing a person recovering from depression? What a disgusting effort - hope Port Adelaide give him one hell of a migraine on Saturdays night.
