They do a great job with player development at that club.

LRT?

If Frawley goes, the compo would most likely be worth more than Goldsack so the only way you would consider going after him would be to do a trade with Collingwood so who could we give them in exchange? Jack Watts?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Freddy Fuschia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. Both look very composed and show great maturity. The fact that Roos is the coach makes it more likely that they will succeed rather than fail as our recent early picks have done but the coach might still have other ideas. If we can do another Tyson trade, I would be happy . -

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 15
Freddy Fuschia replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
There was a statistic discussed on one of the footy programmes earlier in the week which revealed how much space the clubs gained through the use of handball. Melbourne was in negative territory by a fair way. They showed a passage of play from last Sunday's game where we started with the ball just outside our goalsquare followed by a chain of handballs until we reached the stage where we were well outside the 50 metre line, the ball was smothered and turned into a Kangaroo attacking move. I think that if Harley Bennell was playing and had any one of about four or five possessions in that chain, he probably would have had a crack and goaled. It might be the Paul Roos hallmark to go defensive but perhaps we need to be a little bit more attacking when we play an opponent like the Bulldogs. With Cross injured and McKenzie suspended it will be interesting whether the coach will make the move to subtly change the emphasis from full on defence to a more attacking style of play. With the Bulldogs also victims of injury and suspension, I will step out on a limb and go for the Demons by 27 points. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

I wonder if you might want to ask your students to compare and contrast this news and his editorialising when Shane Charter was arrested earlier in the month that the development was a "dramatic blow" to the AFL's "16-month pursuit of the AFL club". No suggestion today that the arrest and questioning of Dank being a "dramatic blow" to Essendon's 17-month attempt to avoid sanctions by ASADA. -
First league footballer to fall in the Second World War. Didn't know that. We had our share of fallen Anzac heroes . Lest we forget.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

They played really well despite the pep juice but the wheels are slowly falling off. I wonder if they'll stick together if and when infraction notices are issued? -

Call me old fashioned but loyalty to your club ahead of self is a non-negotiable and more so if you're a professional. Neeld couldn't help it that he was a poor coach. He gave it his best shot and wasn't good enough. As for the other bloke I noticed as late as last week that he was playing the same way he's always played and I guess that the penny's now dropped for Leppa. -
How Buddy warms up to play the Demons
Freddy Fuschia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
My theory is that Buddy drives in a similar fashion to the way he kicks for goal i.e he does a dramatic veer to the left as he unwinds to kick the footy. Hence, he did the same thing last night and wrote off four cars. -
Was that an around the neck that wasn't paid to Nev Jetta just before Swallow kicked his goal in the last quarter. Straight after the dubious free to Ablett it was a real double whammy.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Freddy Fuschia replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Probably due to the fact that the investigation is subject to bureaucratic processes and the understaffed investigative authority is receiving no co-operation from a number of parties that are possibly wary of self-incrimination. It took a long time to get Lance Armstrong and he also had his cycling federation, a team of lawyers and media groupies looking after him. -

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 5

I think it's true that we've been bashed around the head as a club like no other in recent history. In the space of a week we lose one of our leadership group and a 200cm power player who can ruck or go forward for good at 26 and another leader for a whole season when he should be in the prime of his career. I also just took it in my stride as if nothing can hurt the club any more. I think we've gotten to the stage where these things are galvanizing the club. -
A bit harsh and too heavy on the pessimism George. We're not always going to score 10 behinds straight and that alone, even aside from the injuries didn't help matters.

That seems to be the message Essendon wants to get out there i.e they're looking for public sympathy insofar as it's been a long time coming to fruition and therefore it's unfair of the club and the players. But it was the club that instituted this supplements programme and conducted it in such a reckless way that it allowed its records to "disappear" and is therefore responsible for the length and duration of the ongoing investigation. Blame them. -
How can the commentary improve when Dwayne Pipe is one of them?

SEN interviewed reporter Tim Gossage at lunchtime yesterday and asked about how Sylvia was going with the Dockers. The answer was that he was by no means an automatic selection and would struggle if he didn't improve. I would suggest he's earned that comment at this stage.
