  1. Another good thing about the Suns beating the Toigs is that the AFL can hardly gift them any more draft concessions now, surely?
  2. Looking out the window and seeing sunshine. I know Melbourne weather can change quickly but hoping it wasn't a bad read on the weather report that decided the selectors' minds about not going for Ben Brown today.
  3. No, Jonesy is injured (calf strain).
  4. The South Australian Under 17 squad for the national championships was named today. That would not normally be a big deal even around here but for one name. See if you can find him. SA state under 17 final squad of 30 Harry Barnett Shaun Bennier Max Blacker Hunter Carter Koby Cockshell Tyson Coe Adam D'Aloia Jack Delean * Blake Hansen Isaac Keeler Harry Lemmey Jaiden Magor Kyle Marshall Austin McDonald Max Michalanney Will Patton * Mattaes Phillipou Taj Rahui Jakob Ryan Kobe Ryan Kelsey Rypstra Nick Sadler Tom Scully Luca Slade * Oscar Talbot * Jedd Thomson * Brodie Tuck Will Verrall Tyson Walls Tom Wheaton * * Under 16

  6. It hasn’t taken the new regime at Collingwood long to wield the hatchet but I suspect this bloke’s the fall guy and that others who were responsible for their salary cap fiasco (apart from Eddie) are still there. List manager Ned Guy quits Collingwood after tumultuous off-season
  7. As they say in Africa, “no gnus is good gnus.”
  8. OMG. With potentially another ACL, it opens up another spot in the mid season draft. Perhaps we secure one of the better performed Casey players and Werribee’s Declase plus a good under age junior?
  9. Can’t believe we left Kozzy out for that game. Might have been better off to hold him off being managed for one more game (4 days later).
  10. Far less damage done than the Hawkins elbow on May and the opponent also ducked into his elbow so it should get the all clear.
  11. Yes but he’s eligible for one this year as well. Sholl of Adelaide received one earlier this year.
  12. You need look no further back than Geelong’s loss to the Swans last night. They were far superior by every statistical measure but the Swans’ determination to win and their belief in themselves led them across the line. We need to be up from the beginning and not relent until the final siren.
  13. Collingwood have the more talented players but the Suns are playing as if they want to win.
  14. The real question is would you take Mitch Hannan back?
  15. A very good assessment about the club’s football department’s underestimation of Howe’s ability and his value to the club as a draw card. I think we had issues about our salary cap because I recall something about Collingwood paying him more than the $400k we offered. Whatever, the case he’s definitely repaid them with his service but now, going on 31 years of age and with injuries behind him, he’s going to slow down.

Dees are equal fourth along with West Coast. A long way to go but our efforts are being recognised.
  17. 6. Max Gawn 5. Ed Langdon 4. Christian Salem 3. Clayton Oliver 2. Michael Hibberd 1. Tom McDonald
  18. Meanwhile, Essendon has jumped in and signed 18 year old South Australian prospect Kaine Baldwin who is expected to be a gun once he gets over his injury woes.

He played for their Colts team not seniors.
  20. Notice how shifty Richmond are when they list Derek Eggmolesse-Smith without using his full name. :)
  21. Good to see that our footballers, like the tennis players, perform an "essential service" so the game goes ahead.

That's true but because of the big wraps about his ability as a junior and his character, I thought he would have been a good selection to bring in, not for immediate impact, but to be an understudy to Ben Brown for as long as it took - two years at Casey if necessary. Still, no club has picked him so there's probably something we don't know about him that's keeping clubs from taking the risk.
  23. It’s reported in the article which WJ linked. The ins and outs etc are as quoted from the article. So potentially we have 5 picks in the draft and will possibly hold one back for later drafts.
  24. Now that KK has retired and is off our books, Jay Lockhart gets uplifted to the Primary List and Aaron Nietschke can be automatically rookied, this is the scenario - • 34 players on the Primary List (max 38) • 3 on the Rookie A List (maximum 6) • 1 on the Rookie B List (max 2) We have some additional options in the drafts depending on how the picks fall.

Anyone have an update on him?
