  1. Point is that is he considered draftable by AFL clubs? You only get invited to these combines if a certain number of clubs are interested.
  2. Apologies - so the Suns had him in their best 6 in Round 3 in a 10 goal defeat. The competition is into Round 19. How many votes do you think he’ll get in the Liston Medal?
  3. You make me laugh too. He was not named once in the best players in their reserves and you think that's satisfactory for a top 5 draft pick? His performances are not even on par with Casey's Corey Ellison who isn't even AFL listed.
  4. Really? You're the one who's been all over the shop here. I expect a number 5 draft pick in his first season to get in his team's best players a few times if he's playing in the ressies to justify a place in the ones - wouldn't you? How many times has he done that?
  5. Yeah nah! I was quoting the views of officials who recruited him. Good luck to him but check out how he’s been going in the Gold Coast Reserves. This is how he went last week’s game against the Brisbane Reserves.
  6. Our old friend Knightmare having a nightmare. This hasn’t aged well -
  7. Because of the fact that he was drafted during the pandemic with very little football behind him in his draft year and then again in his first year on the list, Rosman didn’t get enough game time to show what he’s made of and he’s still very much a work in progress. Such players deserve time and patience and I think he’ll get there.
  8. What’s the attraction about drafting players at the wrong end of their careers?
  9. Nah, Gold Coast will grab him with an early pick and then play him in their 2s for the next five years.
  10. I hope someone points out to Ms Wilson that last night’s crowd for Melbourne vs Brisbane exceeded the recent Thursday night crowd of Richmond vs Port Adelaide by 16,000.
  11. Maybe if they create a new team in Darwin, he could go there and learn how to respect our first people.
  12. Agree that we're out of the picture for the MSD unless we have a real smoky in mind to fulfil a need. However, we're running out of time to make the move and there's no apparent vacancy.
  13. Actually, Jack’s comments are accurate. Andrew did very little for the first three quarters and only played well in the final quarter when the heat had gone out of the game and the Cats were 100 points in front. This is a report from after the game. It certainly doesn’t look like he dominated the game, does it? https://central.rookieme.com/afl/2021/04/24/cats-too-strong-and-structured-for-afl-academy-as-daicos-furthers-his-case-for-top-selection/
  14. There’s a young ruckman developing under our noses in Jake Bell at Casey. He’s probably not quite ready even for the mid-season draft next month but has been coming along nicely in the VFL. Worth keeping an eye on over the next 12 months.
  15. Anything wrong with Aaron Naughton as a key forward at 195cm? Towering forward ready to show his wares in Academy hitout “IN A DRAFT pool that is dominated by midfielders, Jacob van Rooyen stands out. Then you throw in his 195cm frame, the strong marking, hard running and batch of blond hair and it is easy to see why the West Australian has caught the eye of scouts.”
  16. Suggest that you and Port take it one week at a time on this one.
  17. Port Adelaide rising from their slumber.
  18. Mitch is a gun midfielder. He’ll be picked up early.
  19. Is there any value in posting the names of players in NGA’s these days? If they’re any good they’re out of your club’s reach anyway.
  20. I wonder if the injury to Howes is enough for him to be put him on the long term injury list? There’s talk of a few young talented players emerging in the ranks who could be worth looking at in the mid season draft. We would probably have the last pick but it might be worthwhile exploring whether there’s a player out there to fit our needs eg. a genuine young ruck prospect to nurture for the day when Max retires or if Luke Jackson gets homesick.
  21. Do you think that’s going to work against us this year?
  22. But you’ve missed my point completely. I said that waving hands in exasperation could be something other than dissent which means that players would be penalized for expressing disappointment in themselves - not for umpire abuse or dissent.
  23. I get what you’re saying but we all know what abuse is because it can be clearly defined. Dissent is a different kettle of fish, especially if putting out your arms is automatically an expression of abuse when the same action could easily be interpreted as an expression of disappointment or frustration at the player’s actions rather than umpire abuse. By penalizing emotion and passion the AFL is emasculating the game.
