  1. Actually, Jackā€™s comments are accurate. Andrew did very little for the first three quarters and only played well in the final quarter when the heat had gone out of the game and the Cats were 100 points in front. This is a report from after the game. It certainly doesnā€™t look like he dominated the game, does it? https://central.rookieme.com/afl/2021/04/24/cats-too-strong-and-structured-for-afl-academy-as-daicos-furthers-his-case-for-top-selection/
  2. Thereā€™s a young ruckman developing under our noses in Jake Bell at Casey. Heā€™s probably not quite ready even for the mid-season draft next month but has been coming along nicely in the VFL. Worth keeping an eye on over the next 12 months.
  3. Anything wrong with Aaron Naughton as a key forward at 195cm? Towering forward ready to show his wares in Academy hitout ā€œIN A DRAFT pool that is dominated by midfielders, Jacob van Rooyen stands out. Then you throw in his 195cm frame, the strong marking, hard running and batch of blond hair and it is easy to see why the West Australian has caught the eye of scouts.ā€
  4. Who is Mac Andrew?
  5. Suggest that you and Port take it one week at a time on this one.
  6. Port Adelaide rising from their slumber.
  7. Mitch is a gun midfielder. Heā€™ll be picked up early.
  8. Is there any value in posting the names of players in NGAā€™s these days? If theyā€™re any good theyā€™re out of your clubā€™s reach anyway.

I wonder if the injury to Howes is enough for him to be put him on the long term injury list? Thereā€™s talk of a few young talented players emerging in the ranks who could be worth looking at in the mid season draft. We would probably have the last pick but it might be worthwhile exploring whether thereā€™s a player out there to fit our needs eg. a genuine young ruck prospect to nurture for the day when Max retires or if Luke Jackson gets homesick.
  10. Do you think thatā€™s going to work against us this year?
  11. But youā€™ve missed my point completely. I said that waving hands in exasperation could be something other than dissent which means that players would be penalized for expressing disappointment in themselves - not for umpire abuse or dissent.
  12. I get what youā€™re saying but we all know what abuse is because it can be clearly defined. Dissent is a different kettle of fish, especially if putting out your arms is automatically an expression of abuse when the same action could easily be interpreted as an expression of disappointment or frustration at the playerā€™s actions rather than umpire abuse. By penalizing emotion and passion the AFL is emasculating the game.

The Melbourne website has an article here which states - ā€œMajak Daw looked to be continuing his form following a best on ground display last week, kicking two first quarter goals, both from free kicks. ā€œBut his day was cut short after quarter time, meaning the Demons had to adapt to overcome the spirited Lionsā€. No explanation as to why his day was ā€œcut shortā€.

Jake Lever reporting that heā€™s okay after rolling his ankle (twice) on Saturday night. As long as he looks after it, he should be right to go next week with the 8 day break. Some concerns however, at Casey level. Blake Howes not selected and the rumour is Blake Howes (ā€œstress fractureā€?). Majak Daw kicked 2 goals before coming off the ground and failing to re-appear. This is a concern because heā€™s really our only proper back up ruckman in the event of injury to our two ruck talls in the ones. Commentator on the afl site also mentioned that Dunstan was off getting his leg iced late in the game. Losing Daw early just two weeks after Mitch Brown was felled behind play is a concern, especially after the manhandling of Ben Brown last week.
  15. Oops. My bad - I must have been having a Knightmare.šŸ˜€
  16. 6. Clayton Oliver 5. Angus Brayshaw 4. Sam Weideman 3. Ed Langdon 2. James Harmes 1. Steven May
  17. Toby Bedford not used means that he can play tomorrow.
  18. One reason why thereā€™s less discussion is that I believe Knightmare is no longer on ESPNā€™s books and is keeping a low profile this year.
  19. Doggies streaking ahead tonight.

How much would you pay for an untried player like Mac Andrew who is presumably not going to play this year (and possibly next year)? Whatā€™s he worth?
  21. Thereā€™s a Fraser Rosman sighting in there.
  22. With Weideman so hot, you would think they take him off at half time and give him a half tonight.
  23. Keep the pictures coming - especially of the newbies. Hereā€™s their numbers 16. Bailey Laurie 19. Fraser Rosman 21. Jacob Van Rooyen 22. Blake Howes 27. Luke Dunstan 34. Deakyn Smith 40. Taj Woewodin 41. Judd McVee 42. Daniel Turner 45. Andy Moniz-Wakefield 50. Ben Brown

Doubt whether this is the Sunsā€™ expectation. Itā€™s just one pundit giving an opinion based on nothing other than that he was selected at 5 in the national draft. Like many others, itā€™s doubtful whether heā€™s ever seen him play.
