I think I am going to nominate for the National Draft, I can't run to far these days, I can still hit targets by foot but I know Melbourne will pick me up because I'm a great pointer. I can stand there whilst players run past me and point for someone else to pick them up. I need to send through some footage to Paul Roos, I'm sure that I can make it at Melbourne, I will have to learn to miss targets but I'm sure I can do that. Our players don't want to work they like the notion of being AFL footballers but are a mile off being AFL footballers. We are so far behind every other club in the AFL. St Kilda has better young talent than us, the Bulldogs are a mile ahead of us, Brisbane is streets ahead of us. GWS showed yesterday how far ahead of us they are. You can't blame players for leaving, who wants to play for a club with no hope.

Outside speed and skill, we need to get players that can run with the football and hit targets, off HBF and through our middle
-
Thats all you want from the last few games of this year, to see some one that maybe just maybe be a good player for us, the hope again. Gawn, confidence is an amazing think, the guy is realizing how tall he is. With another 1-2 preseasons he has the making of a good Ruckman. His tap work was good a few we didn't rove to him but he does tap to advantage Barry, showed a lot today and also learnt a lot. He was told to run with one of the hardest runners in the AFL, Barry can run and that is why he was placed on Hill to learn how hard you have to run. Hill had a patch in the second term where he got on top but Barry also showed enough. Michie, around stoppages with Michie, Viney, Tyson, Jones and Cross we did well, we had that pressure and I think with him playing with Gawn over the past few weeks he was able to get to the right spots. Didn't Michie also have a restricted pre-season with us.

Agree with that We are Hawthorn's B*tches we have been since about 2007. They ramped it up in 2008 to welcome Dean Bailey to coaching which really started the rot at our club. This is the team we need to beat to break away from our past. Will it happen tomorrow not a chance.

Players to target at the end of the year
drdrake replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll take anyone who can get the ball inside our forward 50 -
In Cross, Michie Out Terlich, Tapscott No point adding Gawn we don't get our ball deep forward enough to make him a threat, we have stuff all inside 50's and most of these are shallow. Gawn would just be exposed until we can get consistant deep inside 50 entries. We need to stop Hawthorn of half back, Cross to play a defensive Half Forward and I wouldn't even mind seeing Dunn as a defensive forward and push Frawley back into defense. My Line up Jetta McDonald Frawley Howe Garland Vince Kent Jones Bail Cross Pederson Dunn Watts Dawes JKH Jamar Viney Tyson Rielly, Michie, Mckenzie Sub Blease
-
Just imagine a forward line Jurrah Clark Hogan Aussie Dawes Howe The three gone the club couldn't do much about, all would be in there prime now with 5 years to go.

When we played football we didn't get paid 250K + per year and train full time. The worse think is you go back through this season the number of goals we have missed from with in 25m is a little concerning. From memory it was Port in Alice Springs Grimes and Dawes both missed 15m out.

Want to get a Rising Star Nomination? Just play Melbourne
drdrake replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wonder what is the record for most Rising Noms against in one season, I think we are up to 3 this year. -
That whole 3rd quarter was a joke, the McKenzie missed goal, the Rielly short kick, Kent having a shot instead of passing to a man 10 m out from goal, the snap from 10m directly in front, I'm sure I have missed a few

Yep this week first marking contest break Roughead's nose, old school ruling this. When I played you got taught if you can't spoil the ball hit the head hard, it will make them second guess for the next mark they go for.

Melbourne , a team waiting to be beaten - Paul Roos
drdrake replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do you know what if the skill errors and the bad decision had only been there this year you might have a point, our players haven't been able on a consistent basis since 2007 been able to execute the required skills to play this game. Mind agree it does play with you, but we just have players that can't and don't do what is required. It seems as soon as you put a MFC jumper on you lose your skill and ability to make good decisions. No more, it is a cop out. A rookie player that was delisted last year is one of our most consistent, reliable player, why because it was taken away from him and he is hungry to be an AFL footballer. -

They can if they choose to do so, that is why they are Lazy footballers. The underlying problem with our club our players play when they want to. We are a mile of being a premiership threat, we are 5 years behind Western Bulldogs, Saints, GWS. -

Emotional Bull, I don't buy into that at all. You don't miss targets, it is a lazy concentration thing. No AFL football should miss a 20m kick under no pressure or fumble hand passes that are at you eyes or worse still miss 2m handballs. -

No game plan can allow for players that can't or won't make the right decisions. The game could have been over at 3 qtr time, we had easy opportunities that should have put us 4-5 goals up, but no our players took the wrong option and worse still couldn't execute so when the ball gets turned over we are exposed. The lack of skill and poor decision making, the missed targets by hand and foot I just sat there is pure disbelief that players at this level couldn't execute very very basic kicks and hand balls. -

Roo's comments are spot on, yesterday we should have been beaten by 60 points, the only thing that kept us in front was Brisbane. The whole day was an extremely bad game of football, started with the Blease 15m pass to Vince that missed him by 15m and it went down hill from there. We found ourselves 14 points up with little over 20mins to play, I reckon all our players started to think they were better then they are. They thought gees we have played some of our worst footy this year and we are still in front, that is what good teams can do we must be a good team. Wrong it was only a matter of time before Brisbane realized we are crap, it took them three and a bit quarters but once they did it was all over. I have banged on about our players just being Dumb footballers, the only bloke I have confidence in when he gets the footy is Nev Jetta, he knows his limits and plays with in them. Funny to say this but I bet Paul Roos wishes he had 22 Nev Jetta's, blokes that will listen and play their role and have a read hot crack -
I bet players agree to terms mid-year, it is just making these public
-
If people don't believe this happens now they are kidding themselves. It just can't be official until 1/10. Our club will be speaking to player managers as we speak through offers to them to lure players.
-
It is bad but I'm not fazed if he goes or stays. He goes we will get pick 4 or 5 for him, we put one of our first round picks on the table to try and attract another youngish midfielder that has been in the system 2-4 years. We keep the other pick for another highly rated young Midfielder, we then use our second round pick to bolster our tall defense, followed by Stretch with our third round pick and another tall with 4th round pick Add Jetta upgrade, gives you 6 changes to our list, plus look for some value somewhere as a DFA.

That's 5 maybe even 6 games this year we have held the lead in the last quarter and been beaten. Is this a fitness, composure or belief thing, I think a combination of all three, I think we are another preseason away from having the fitness to play the two way game that is required that is why we have lapses, we still have to many players that just make wrong decisions and we lack the killer instinct to put side away. Yesterday was stupidity, once again dumb dumb dumb, we panicked when we needed to control the tempo of the game, we tried for the killer blow at the wrong time when we just needed to take time of the clock and once again it wasn't our youngsters it was our leaders they need to learn what is needed to win. Take away that we played badly for 40 mins of the first and second quarters, we still had a chance to win and we made bad decisions.

Read his article on the MFC website, if you are annoyed by something put an end to it.
-
Just wanted to add to this, 3 of the 4 games we have won Jack Watts kicks 2 or more goals. Jack is a smart ball user, we don't have to many in our side. To see him kick a goal from outside 50m was great, this was an issue for him he seemed to be at his limit at 45-50m and often sliced his kicks at that range.

Any person that says this doesn't effect the club or players this year is kidding themselves. Every single interview the Frawley question is asked. It was the same when Tom Scully left, no effect rubbish, it is a massive distraction for the players and club.

Good to see they have responded to the challenge
