Too late by the sound of it. But it would be a lot cheaper to be chasing some of these "hungry"middle tier players than clogging our list with more midfielders who cost us the Southern Stand (already sold) Northern Stand.

Have heard one scenarion ( from a Geelong supporter) that Geelong could get Gaff. I said they would have trouble with Salary cap. His reply was Kelly wants to go home (do not know why when WC & Freemantle did not want a bar of him over the years). Taylor may be retiring , Ablett is not costing then much and Menzel wants out. So by throwing in a Trade may swing a deal. Far fetched !!!, but it is amazing how some clubs work their way around things. (Like being a promotions officer for a large sponsor)
  3. Personally I feel TMac is the outstanding leader. No nonsense ,can lift, speaks well. Let Viney get right without pressure. (Plus he may have to learn a new playing role to prolong/maintain his career.) Nothing against Max, but : You do not make a fast bowler captain and Max is too busy coming a media star.
  4. The big advantage is that he is 8th on the tagging list for opponents. He is a real find and his mental capacity to absorb and learn new roles makes hm a terrific prospect. p.s. Maybe he could look after Buddy on Sunday. Reason : Quick enough, Left Footed so thinks LH . Any wins he has will ensure we score at thew other end because Sydney t6hink it is all over when it goes into Budderitory

I really feel this thread has lost its relevance, and by continuing we are failing to let the matter lie and be controlled by the people directly involved.

Actually the Feds are at the Airport to arrest Stevens before he slithers back into his hole.

Far be it for me to comment, but an apt sentence would be until Andrew returns to football.( Brayshaw that is )

I agree, but by the law of the land ,there are people doing time for öne punch "actions and are vilified as such. The same principles should apply to sports people who do not discipline themselves and in a moment of "madness" change their own life and the victims . I have no doubt that Andrew Gaff would do things differently if he had thought things through.

Even before yesterday I have been consitently arguing that Gaff is superfluos to our needs( and throwing the Southern Stand at him is a waste). We currently have ANB , who has improved enormously in the last year (and still has plenty of upside) . Harmes who is continually proving me wrong on my initial assessment of him. Fritsch (fat Robbie) has shown enormous talent in his first year . Spargo, first year ,only 19. Jayden Hunt has had a year to forget so has enormous upside. Let us not forget , Dom Tyson is only 22 or 23 , and is still finding his way because we have too many midfielders. Remember at the start of the year some posters were in for trading Gus Brayshaw based on this argument. To Dom's credit he has shown a lot more flexibility in his game style since he has returned and it is starting to show. Then we have Jack, Clarrie and Gus . With due respects to Jack, the midfield is working really well in the last few weeks and earlier in the season. He now needs to get himself right (hopefully) and not use himself as a human battering ram so much. Have not mentioned Jesse & Trac ,whic just shows our current depth. We need to be multiskilling Dom and Jack,as we are with Clarrie and Gus, then we are approaching a super middle sized group of players. Team harmony seems absolutely great amongst this group (shown by the way they all hang it on Poor old Trac ) indicates they are gelling on and off the field. Sometimes seeking the perfect solution turns out not to be so. Richmond have got where they are through a Team based approach with some icing on the top (O doubt whether some of the Toiges bottom six would be in out side . Footscray won a Premiership through genuine team ethics and approach. We have got the structure, the personnel and are developing the will and the skills to succeed.
  10. A "Red Card" had never really entered my mind until a couple of incidents e.g. Bugg(Melb), Hall and now Gaff ,which are quite blatant transgressions. We have cameras everywhere (except to adjudge goals) so the video "referee"" could suggest to an umpire that a very very serious incident has occurred , especially off the ball. So for mine a definite yes, because Gaff played out the game until Fremantle blokes made him a target and caught up with him (which if implemented takes that aspect out of it). Andrew Brayshaw will not be playing for the rest of the year either. Serious Off the ball incidents are not commonplace, but are a serious blight on all levels of the game.
  11. The "love affair" with Dom Tyson continues. Spargo : Long first season
  12. dimmy replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Two reasons : I honestly do not think he is worth it.considering what it will cost us and that we have players already growing into outside mids. He will be irrelevant after big brother cleans him, up in the Practice Matches

    I sincerely hope not !!!!
  14. dimmy replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why even entertain the thought. This bloke deserves every succees at MFC , because HE DESERVES IT. Surely AFL/MFC has not come to this !!!!!
  15. Tyson : had a go That is Joeboyspeak for BOG ????
  16. Just finished watching The Toiges and the other mob. Nearly 3/4 of the Toiges are " irrecognisables". Yet they play really well as a team. This reinforces (to me) that sometimes we are banging our heads and hopes against the wall in thinking throwing the Southern Stand for someone to come in and save us. Apart from our Senior citizens every player on our list has an upside 10 % or even 5% improvement in the ability to run both ways AND TO SEE THE NEED FOR IT would mean we would need a massive amount of flag poles to put all the flags. Look at the improvement of Harmes, ANB, Fritsch (1st yr),Spargo .JKH,SMith and Smith The upside of Hunt Stretch, Pretty,Baker, Balic,Hannan, Weidemann,McKenna and others unknown . The nucleus of our list is top quality. We just need the link men . Most important recruit would be a running coach or Strength & Cond person . Less money than a player and we keep our keepers, not shove themout the door because of Salary cap pressures.
  17. I am warming to Frost. He seems to be a lot more confident with ball in hand. Evidence was last week when he took mark and ran the line late in LQ. There is a bit of upside in our defence. We are constantly thnking Gaff is our potential saviour. We have already got one in Fritsch and Salem who will do what Gaff can do and have a fair bit of improvement in them (positively). Fritsch has been an absolute revelation and has taken to AFL very well. I just wonder where he fits on the chess board long term. I say this because I remember Roosy saying that Gus (playing on HFF) was not going to be playing there all his career , meaning he was just being blooded into the tempo. Maybe young "Sparky" is doing some prepping for a long term role
  18. I am noty going to say a thing. This is absolute great news. Gun Player and seems a great young man.
  19. Bit harsh on Tyson. Had 21 possessions working as 4th Midfielder and minimal time on ground. Personally I felt his game was an improvement on earlier in the year. Maybe it is just lack confidence in JKH because he tackle well ,delivers well (most times). I reckon he feels he is hanging on by his fingernails every time he plays. DIfficult position to be in.
  20. Cannot agree more. Just a couple of weeks ago the same people were lauding the bloke. Fair go !!!!
  21. I think the Harmes situation was a worse decision, because Harmes was running back and was a yard from the plyer. He immediately put his hands up to indicate he was not in play ,but got pinges. What was he supposed to do !!! We have two examples of rules that are not good for the game in their present form. Dangerfield is so proactive on rule changes for next year, surely his judgement is very self centred and at the best hypocritical..
  22. Recruit a spcialist running coach to teach our players to run both ways and increase stamina. That would solve a lot of our problems. Wallis covers a lot of ground, BUT does he dispose of the ball really well. Trade Dom Tyson and JKH for him. Plus a straight swap forDangerfield for Oliver ( Sorry , 2nd bottle of red kicking in).
  23. Well done with that analysis of stats Rusty Nails. Interesting that in another topic Nathan Jones is being "downgraded"but in a statistical sense still stands up very well , as does Jordan Lewis. Also worth noting that our first year "star" Sparky Fritsch is ranked 9th. Pretty good effort !!!!
  24. Agree with this assessment rather than the one that intimated we got done by 186 points. Oscar appears to be back as the fall guy again, but he is the last in line and their midfield played the last quarter really well in the way the Fwd line was so open and the delivery was to die for. Why didn't we draft Kelly ????? He is exactly the player we need ( a midside midfielder with silky delivery )
  25. Would have to agree that Omac is being blamed for the sun going down last night and failing to rise by 7.30 this morning. I can think of 5 of the goals Hawkins got NOBODY BUT NOBODY ( even Ch 7 favourite in Rance) could have stopped the lace into the middle of the sponsors logo delivery that Hawkinns got from Kelly and his mates. In one other Hawkins got a goal whilst in the ruck (so it is Omacs fault he did not go up against him and then we would be criticising him for giving away the free kick. I think Omac has been very good this year and would have learnt a lot last night (as would all our defence. Goodwins summation of the last quarter was spot on in his Press Conf.
