  1. IMO Cross - worth a year contract at least Swallow or Sloane or Selwood - Any one of these would be a great for MFC (All of them would be Awesome but doubt it) Karnezis or Polec - Know can compete at AFL Level and have bodies that could meet the rigours of the game worth a look.
  2. Jack Watts won't really have come of age as a footballer until he is on the Demonland Banner. I hope Roos can take the promise and potential he has and get him up there on the Banner
  3. I would be happy to take the PP and if next season we shoot up the ladder I would still be smiling. Even when opposition say "you only are high up on the ladder because the AFL gave you a handout" I would smile and say " Jealous Much!" As they say " winners are grinners " and the attitude of other clubs about whether we deserve anything or not is irrelevant to me. Quite frankly they can GAGF. I might even pull out the old "What's this?" "The smallest violin in the world and its playing just for you!" Gag. When we are winning and improving up the ladder these debates will just be a distant memory. I don't mind if the other clubs hate us as long as we are winning!
  4. I have heard of it but never read it. Will definitely check it out as need a new series to delve into. My favourite character in the Riftwar series is Nakor.
  5. Interesting argument whether to go out and argue the point with a statement or whether to stay silent. PJ when asked was quite vocal and adamant on his arguments why we should get it based on performance over the past 7 years and he challenged the Media to do the research and then comment. Interesting that the arguments being raised from people like Barrett and the Like don't address his (PJ) arguments. Media all believe and have stated on numerous occasions that MFC have had a horrible on-field performance for years. But they believe we should not get a PP but not because we are a poorly performing but because we have had plenty of chances to get it right and we are still struggling. Emotional charged rhetoric aside the media still have not met PJ's challenge to do the research and then formulate an argument against. I say to the media put up or shut up!
  6. I think I have worn out a couple of copies of Magician over the years as I like to go through the series every so often. It easy to do because the books at last count were up to 30 different novel centred around a young boy from Crydee.
  7. Yes there is that. But its just those that talk like it wasn't a conspiracy or a theory that puzzle me.
  8. I agree FT I would be concerned on his price we need to ensure we are not paying a lot of money for players of his age. Another person for mick at Carlton you would think.
  9. Love the enthusiasm and back slapping but you guys need to read the article again. The trip to Perth was organised mid year according to Mahoney with a view to talk with new coach and about plans for hogan moving forward. This does not mean that he is going to talk to him about contract extension or the like as that is discussed with others in the football department. Roos will likely sit down and have discussion with Hogan and family about how the club will manage him in the coming season, more to reassure them that the club will keep the hype and expectations in check so he can have a really good debut and first season. It is great that Roos is our coach but ppl attributing the decision to go to Perth as an inspired move on Roos behalf is a bit hysterical. Remember D landers "He is not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty Dees Coach" The conspiracy theorist also by continuing to say he had signed or agreed to coach earlier in the year means your saying that he is a liar and dishonest. As Roos has continually outlined that his views on coaching MFC had only changed a few weeks prior to signing. It's a bit hypocritical to call him wonderful on one hand and a bulltisher on the other.
  10. At 30 and he reckons he has 2 years left in him but I would think he would end up at Carlton next year. Not worth wasting money or picks on.
  11. No No No No No...Yes
  12. Seems to be concerted effort to stop us from getting a PP is building up steam. Quite frankly if we get it then yippee, but if we don't then I am sure we will survive. I just wonder what the effect of the fuss that the other clubs and outstanding journo's like Damien Barrett will have on the Independent Commissions whose scope is to look at the issue from a holistic approach and not from a club centric view. Two points about the article The title when looked at in isolation is good news for us. "Hawthorn president Andrew Newbold angry at AFL plans to give Melbourne cash, priority pick" Secondly Newbold is quoted as saying "In the context of equalisation, I reckon it puts everything up for grabs," " "Why should Hawthorn be tipping money in when the AFL are underwriting Melbourne and these anomalies continue to exist?" Seems to me the point of equalisation is to equalise clubs which means that strong clubs like Hawthorn need to step up to ensure that the competition remains strong. That may mean putting there hands in their pockets and assisting the weaker clubs like us. P.s by outstanding journo I mean Tool of the Highest Order
  13. Zaharakis was the player who refused to sign waiver or be involved in the injection program so may be worth a look. Goddard is also a good player who has no risk from infraction notices plus players drafted at the last draft,
  14. I am stoked we have employed a good coach, but as we are a long way from showing we are on the rise. I reckon its a bit premature as, at this point, PR has sold us hope. When he provides us with some success then i think we can start gloating. I just don't want it to be another false dawn.
  15. we did not sack him he chose to look elsewhere as a restricted free agent. he made the choice because he did not like the coach, well with any decision comes consequences so move on.
  16. Yep could not agree with you more regarding conspiracies and (D) Land but, the question still remains unanswered by you both. Do I get a Prize?
  17. The word on the Land is that this was closer to truth then conspiracy. So do I win a prize?
  18. I was listening to Access All Areas and Damian Barrett he was saying that the AFL have said that only 400K of the bail out can be used for getting a senior coach. Now as it Barrett I was wondering if anyone had heard anything similar. If thats the case the PJ has a whole lot of work to do to get sponsorship to try and make the short fall. I am sure he is up to the challenge though.
  19. Further from OTC Roos said MFC players asked to meet with him through PJ and Roos was happy to talk to players as long as Craig was advised it was happening. As others have stated he did not want to discuss possible assistants as it would be unfair for the MFC as there are people in those roles and he had not made the final decision to coach. Just a side note regarding us talking to Burns and Simpson us sounding out the coaches management about their intentions next season is a long way from what has been mooted on here. While the Demons have not spoken to either Burns or Simpson, they have made preliminary contact with the pair's management company to get a sense of their plans for next season and beyond. A casual discussion with Ling is a long way from how some have viewed it. Former Geelong captain Cameron Ling confirmed at the weekend that he had had a casual discussion with the Demons about taking on an assistant coaching role next, with St Kilda veteran Lenny Hayes another potential candidate. Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-spread-the-net-as-coach-search-continues-20130819-2s7eg.html#ixzz2djkIK1jj Back to OTC M Sheehan asked about a new senior coach selecting assistants and Roos started to say that a senior coach would assemble his coaching panel but stop once he realised that it is inappropriate to talk about possible changes when he has stated he has not made the final decision. This to me makes a lot of sense as it affects current employees of the club who should not have there possible future job prospects debated on national TV. So from what was said tonight in relation to whether Roos will coach MFC next year, you have take him at his word, which is, the final decision will be made once his family returns from overseas next Tuesday. so we just have to wait.
  20. After watching OTC the one thing you can be certain of is there will be decision made by Tuesday or Wednesday Next week. Roos said he had discussed with wife and son on Sunday prior to them going on holidays to Bhutan. No decision was made at that point and wife and son would think on it whilst away and come back with their thoughts on a decision.
  21. Loved Terlich and M Jones work all year. If Roos does come I think Terlich may thrive as he will have an understanding of whats Roos requires and you would think that being dropped and getting a second chance after spending time in state leagues would have matured him. (one can hope anyway) i love M Jones inside work and another year running with N JONES and J VINEY will make improve their teamwork. I love his spreading from congestion and how he often provides an option for his team mates. I think Roos will love his workrate and once Roos adds his directions and structures he can only get better. I tip a big step for M Jones next year under the right coach.
  22. It makes me laugh how Channel 7 and others have talked about what is being proposed and how there are sources or sauces and the one thing PJ and others have brought to the club is the ability to do business negotiations in private. this is so unlike previous years. This shows a level of professionalism that gives me great hope for the club. It makes it harder for us supporter mind you but the saying is so true that lose lips sinks ships. Fremantle's poaching of Ross Lyons is a perfect example of getting the business done without having running commentary or it being played out in the media. The outrage many felt over the way it was done was from the media and i reckon the outrage was more in that Ross and Fremantle did it quietly with out any one working it out before they wanted. That's what makes it interesting that Paul Roos was the one to break the news and not MFC which to me speaks volumes about his intent. Loved the reaction of Eddie and Jason on the panel. Can't wait to hear the official news if and when it arrives.
  23. Very funny thread some are not quite understanding the humour but I will play. 9. last gig was OTC and the last coach to come from there was James Hird and look what he did to Essendon.
  24. If we get Paul Roos as coach thought it might be interesting to see what others thought about potential spot fillers. From Paul Roos article in the HUN on the 2 Aug 2013 http://www.thefordhamcompany.com.au/paul-roos-herald-sun-column-22/ FILL IN THE BLANKS: PAUL ROOS MELBOURNE TEAM FOR ROUND 1 NEXT YEAR MELBOURNE B: Frawley Garland HB: Grimes McDonald C: Blease? Jones Watts HF: Sylvia Dawes Hogan F: Clark Howe R: Jamar? Trengrove Viney I/C: Fitzpatrick? ? = can they be a consistent AFL player?
  25. http://www.3aw.com.au/podcasts Half Way down 3AW Football Preview you can listen to it online or download the entire show (apprx 36mb) the Roos discussion happens at the 22.10 mark.
