  1. Like everyone in this thread i am basing it on what i observe. If you have GPS Data or possessions differentials etc then please share
  2. The players are running out games better then last year and have improved in the physical contested work rate as the year has progressed. It will be great to see a third preseason under Dn
  3. Seems like Roos may be interested in coaching, if thats what can be read from his ceasing his academy coaching role. So now all he has to do is flip a coin. Heads we win, Tails Lions Lose.
  4. That's win win Essendon get penalised and the chances of Carlton reaching the finals are diminished by the delay.
  5. That's interesting point. Would it matter if it was not a prohibited substance in April this year? When the substance was injected in 2012. The WADA banned substance list is released at the beginning of the year whether this has significance in relation to the issue is an interesting point (for me) Love how Tim Watson come out this morning and said that they had independent advice I.e a person employed by the Essendon FC is hardly independent. Watching 360 last night I was shocked but I do not agree that the AFL or ASADA should have come out and cleared anything up. The investigation is not completed and just releasing part of investigation before its finished is not the way things are done. I am shocked that Gerard W would even think that let alone say it.
  6. The article is flawed and illogical in that he states "But the facts are all that is required when analysing Melbourne's plight, and the facts prove that this club has no right to more draft bonuses." He then proceeds to explain how we didn't use the priority pick well last time as a fact to why we don't deserve a PP. The AFL took away the automatic entitlement to a PP but have left a opening for clubs that are struggling to gain assistance via the Draft at the their discretion. Whether or not the MFC utilised the PP in previous years is irrelevant to whether they gain a concession via the AFL discretion in the current season. Yes we are terrible but that's reason why we need assistance. If we were strong then sure we would not deserve any assistance. But the point of assistance via the draft is to ensure that teams that are struggling get help to strengthen their club and ultimately strengthen the brand (AFL). Apparently we have been well "compensated" according to Damien. The use of the word compensation is being used to make the reader believe that we got payment for a loss when the PP we received was an entitlement of a flawed system. If you were a bottom team for a few seasons and someone said hey would you like some assistance that you are entitled under our rules would you turn down the help? Is it ruthless to not get every concession or entitlement that you can get for your club? Do we deserve a concession from the AFL? Who knows its all very subjective. The question should be Do We Need a Draft concession? and then let the AFL make an objective decision around how to help.
  7. I would have to disagree Damien Barrett has always been that bad and was always a [censored].
  8. Well done Jack V. What I love about Jack Viney when he gets the ball his first instinct is to move it forward not Faff about going backwards and he plays like the Energizer Bunny
  9. Recently Jack Watts is missing any form of mongrel in his game . Some of the places I grew up in in NQ and NT in the 80s-90s have a way of testing you as a young fella to see what your made of and at some point in your life you have to go toe to toe with someone. The fight happens, how you handle yourself and the ability to take a beating or give a beating is on show and afterwards you maybe sitting down laughing with your opponent and having a beer. But the point is everyone knows what type of person you are from that point forward and what you are capable of. Jack Watts recently seems to be a playing like he is talking a good game, he seems a nice enough bloke, but, when the gloves are off and its time fight he will be the bloke at the back shouting hold me back, hold me back. As a friend of mine once said about another friend of mine on there first ever meeting. " Yeah he seems a nice enough guy?! But I think I am going to have to punch him in the head and then sit down and have a drink with him to see what he really like, You know NT Way!" Now I am not saying someone should give Jack Watts a beat down what I am saying is Jack needs to start showing whether he is going to fight for his team mates and this club or is he going to stand on the outside of the mob shouting Fight! Fight! Fight! If he is not showing the determination and mongrel then he should be an option for Trade. I personally would like for him to stay but as the new president said if your not ruthless about improving and ruthless about winning at all cost then. P.s Winning at all cost does not mean taking shortcuts ala Essendon.
  10. Overs too much to give either 1 or the other not both and I would start with less and have either pick or trade as an option not both. Swallow is not worth both
  11. It's a no from me I don't think Sam Newman would make a good coach!
  12. The courier mail in Brisbane have reported that Tom Rockliff was frustrated with Voss. So if true he would probably be happy to stay at Lions now Voss has been sacked http://m.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-lions-sack-coach-michael-voss-to-stop-player-walkout/story-fni5f4q3-1226696604637

  14. Actually this article does as it quotes directly what Roos has stated on record to the paper. Jon Ralph may be loose with pieces that have speculation and opinion but when you directly quote a person you have to get it right or else there could be consequences. So unless Paul Roos has come out and said that what was written in the paper was incorrect you can be sure the weight of the piece is quite good.
  15. BB59 why are you letting facts ruin a good story, the OP was adamant after all regarding rumour.
  16. I think its all a big Roos to deflect from the fact that he is not coming to the Dees but as others have Hird he is going to the Bombers.......Voss!
  17. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-lions-coach-michael-voss-will-not-be-given-a-new-contract/story-fndv8d6r-1226696515172 Roos may not be coaching anywhere yet
  18. Not sure if anyone has posted this but according to the WADA code 3.2 the burden of proof required for an anti doping violation is more than balance of probability and less than beyond reasonable doubt. So having a waiver signed by a player whilst not a smoking gun as such may be enough to consider an an Anti Doping Violation. P.S pure speculation regardin whether it is enough as i am not a lawyer
  19. His leg had a bone in it
  20. So is Roos still open to talks with the Club?
  21. Exactly Biffen I for one do not lack Empathy
  22. Jones may be the best player & trainer but if the team is not willing to follow him as a leader what's the point of appointing him as captain. The players identified both the Jack's as candidates that they trust to lead them this year. Next year it may be Jonesy. Also if you think that leaders don't need charisma then you are mistaken because charisma is the ingredient a leader uses to convince others to follow them. The ingredient that gets people motivated when the going gets tough. Sure there are leaders who have no charisma in todays society but usually they have power over there followers both tangible and intangible. My question in this topic is this. Have the players complained about the captains leadership? If it ain't broken why fix it?
  23. It can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) All signatories to the WADA code recognise the jurisdiction of the CAS in Anti-doping rule violations.
  24. I heard a rumour Mark Neeld was a chance for the Essendon job!
  25. This would be unfortunate for Esssendon and I would lmao.
