  1. Because a Spanking new facilty (including top quality playing surface) is far inferior to an oval: with a cricket pitch without goal posts that is closer to the players favourite late shop.
  2. jackas_backa is now a well fed troll. Here's hoping he's full enough to hibernate.
  3. I'd be in a rather large amount of trouble if I missed the wedding, so will have to give playing a miss. Still hope to make it for a look at the 1st quarter.
  4. I'd be keen. FF Newbie though, and a wedding to attend at 5pm on the 2nd.
  5. Fantastic first season from the rookie. Expected lapses in focus and sustainability. Averaged 1.3 goals (6 goals to 1 behind ratio). Missed Davey's presence & guidance. Worthy of his Bluey position.
  6. Agreed. This years draft is THE year to go as hard as humanly possible.
  7. I'd like to suggest that next years Demonland's B&F voting system be changed to mirror the clubs format. This is partially detailed here with the final step (i think) of dividing players scores in a game by 4 (max vote amount) Thoughts? Further info? If I'm stepping on any toes ... un-intended .. mod as necessary.
  8. 1- Brad Green 2- Cameron Bruce 3- Brad Miller Best First Year Player: Wona (even tapering off at the end of the year, for a rookie to come into what would become the 16th team and kick 24.4 in 18 AFL matches..)
  9. "When we sack Bailey so probably at the end of 2009." Meh.
  10. Point guard eh? State level? As you say, exceptional. Alongside the attributes you listed, it also requires a massive motor. Having held my tongue until now, that seals it for me.
  11. "nor lawn bowls (because they have to throw it)." You can 'score' for them by moving one of your (scoring) balls to a safety position - with the intent of knocking the jack that way later. I guess it's not a 'score' until marked though. Could've sworn you could in the rugbies, just not the done thing. Can anyone confirm that both union and league rules prohibit it? I'm pretty certain you can in netball (for no gain) but am happy to be corrected. Oh, and that should've read 'deanox' not 'denox'. Fixed.
  12. Not quite sure which way you're arguing deanox, but fair call Right back at me (i think). Sorry BM. I should have said "Struggling to think of a comparable team game you can't." Ie the teams are on the field at the same time and both are able to score at any time. This removes swimming, boxing, (most) golf, ten pin bowling, archery, baseball, boarding, equine, rowing, (most) motor racing, (most) cycling and gymnastics. That leaves the rugbies, basketball, netball, lawn bowls (mostly). Soccer too. And Gridiron. I can think of scenarios where you would score for the opposition in order to reset for a winning play in all of those, except netball (the only one where 1 point is always the maximum score (soccer away goals count it out))
  13. "How many other games can you score for the opposition DELIBERATELY?" All of them? I'm serious. Struggling to think of a game you can't.
  14. Edit: Out of date code of coduct removed. (Thanks Fan) 2007-11 Collective Bargaining Agreement (PDF) AFL Players Code of Conduct (PDF) (AFLPA sourced)
  15. I see this as a non issue. If you, the attacking team, cannot think through and execute your forward thrust successfully then you deserve to suffer the consequences of the oppositions defensive thinking and strategies. The hysteria may unfortunately reach critical mass this week as something needs to be talked about till trading starts.
  16. When that actually happened it blew any cred I'd given Long. Compressed spine, broken neck .. awful but credible possibilities from a 20m sprint 1/2 twist into a hip and shoulder to the top of the skull. There's hard, and then there's the really bad kind of mongrel.
  17. Statistics requires nowhere near even 10% sample to form an accurate picture. This is why only a couple of thousand people have the ratings boxes.
  18. Tiges had a far better side on the ground. Our players just wanted the long, physically punishing (for all, given injuries etc, especially the kids), horrible season to end. If Geelong (1) can thump us by 116 points in mini cyclonic condtions then Richmond (9) can beat us (16) by 80 in mostly ok conditions. Btw, Richmond got close enough to tripple our brownlow votes (69 to 24). Using that game as a pretense for a throw away pot shot at Bailey - poor form. Having said that, frustration can do strange things to all of us.
  19. "Draft picks, Dee's gain another Top 10 Pick" is a pretty definite (misleading?) statement. Could it be modified please? On topic, hasn't Bailey said that no picks will be traded, Or was that just (traded) for players? Coffee time.
  20. Dance, duck, weave .. hope the KO goes our way.
  21. Funnily enough I wasn't trying to imply 2004 was Viney's fault, but that he has had control over the transition period. While over-playing his role has occurred, so has under-playing.
  22. Viney has been with the Hawks since the beginning of (the woeful) 2004 yes?
  23. Yup. I'm still not convinced of her figures, though I could understand some slippage in those forecast by the club with last place and it's associated 'returns' not necessarily the intended financial position.
