  1. Are there any restrictions on things such as videoing the match? Just curious.
  2. Funny as and very interesting thread. Go wheels. Go you good thing. Go Dees.
  3. I've not heard that much on Grimes in previous reports. It'd be great if you could have a look.
  4. Well if you only want a result, fine. Let's sell the jumper rights for 2$. Easy. Result guaranteed. Or are there other criterion?
  5. Well, in the scenario I put forth, the scoreboard reads Dogs 1 Demons 0 but does that equal "The reason the Bulldogs got this sponsorship deal is because their management/marketing outmanoeuvred our management/marketing." ?
  6. Edit: Beaten to the punch. For what it's worth, my completely uninformed opinion is that Mission used us to tighten the screws on the dogs.
  7. I wonder who it was that blinked or called a bluff first.
  8. (So far as I/we know) "They" didn't. They requested the players vote on each others leadership. Does it really matter that "they" might not get their currently preferred successor - with 12 months still to come? Lock it in?
  9. The more to come: McDonald: I’ll lead my way
  10. I believe the players do not choose the captain, however in this case they were asked to "vote ... 5-4-3-2-1 vote for the players who displayed the greatest leadership qualities."
  11. What a great post. Welcome aboard deez_nutz. The MFC should take the initiative here (if not already) and set up 'pre-paid' options across all membership types such that a supplied code can be used by the recipient to activate and give their required info.
  12. Congratulations Captain Junior! Wishing you all the best in your 13th year of service. Edit: And congrats to Cam Bruce as well

  14. Maybe also the speed of the game itself. Supporters are more informed (if not more aware ) of the unique and demanding athletic/power requirements of the players and their roles in the modern game. A-typical, particularly physical, glares. That said I agree with your sentiment Wooders. His general abilities look very solid, his fine skills easy on the eyes, and he's thus far proven to be a hard working winner. Though IMO he'll need a little protection before he fills out stepping up to AFL. Excellent to hear that yet another young Demon recruit has the time and the ability to speak (well - for the club) with fans / the AFL community.
  15. That certainly casts the Green trade week happenings in a new light.
  16. "Ruckmen get about 30 taps a game and about 10% are effective." I've often wondered why rucks have such a difficult time being effective (re taps). Maybe I'm being too harsh or maybe it's a remnant from my basketball days but woeful comes to mind hearing 10%. Tap work 'aint that hard. It's one on one in the centre. Even elsewhere, to be credited an ineffective tap means that you got in a position to do something and failed. Nine times out of ten. Boggles my mind.
  17. Best: 1. Comeback v Freo 2. Lions at the G 3. Hawthorn (2) Worst: 1. Geelong (2) 2. Bulldogs (1) 3. Hawthorn (1)
  18. Boxing day - no. Today in the Ponsford, yeap
  19. Just wanted to apologise for coming on a bit too strongly in my previous posts. I do think this thread has been quite valuable to all, clashes aside. Furious, if you do decide to make the trip (assuming that’s the way it pans out) I'd love to help out any way I can (rest/recovery/celebration/commiseration). That goes for any Demon.
  20. Sigh. You missed the InMyOpinion there or ignored it? Cool, that's your opinion and fair enough. It's NOT what you said earlier: "I couldn't give a RA if Casey has the best facilities in the world, it's in the middle of butt fuch nowhere" That's great, it really is (so was I). My point however still stands - people aren't turning up to those games in anywhere remotely near enough numbers. I'm not questioning your commitment based on disagreeing with you, see below. You said it: "It's already an effort to get to the G, I won't be travelling an extra hour." Lot's of people work 60 hour weeks (me again). Lot's of people travel 3+hrs a day to do so (me again). The AFL's going to build this stadium? After their last attempt? How much will the South Yarra land cost? How is the deal going to benefit the MFC unless we get (lucky and get) all Essendon-esque cozy? How is this stadium suddenly going to make all the people who DONT go to the Freo/Port etc games suddenly materialise? IMO (<--) anyone who thinks we can pull the above kind of deal out of our 'arz' is kidding themselves.
  21. Moved from the Training thread ==== Long post warning. Do you play golf ? Fish ? Thousands upon thousands of people manage to get 'way out there' and well beyond every single weekend. Have you've attended all our home games against freo (what a great win), port, and the like? I ask because alot of people haven't - and that has cost the club significant monies and opportunities (ie rookies cost, etc). It's the same kind of scenario (granted, without the finishing - yet) as at Geelong where they generate 600k per game with crowd numbers that we'd only make a modest profit on (if that) at the 'G. The attitude that the MCC is only good for shafting towards our own ends ... isn't going to get us far. If anything, the MCC might be more inclined to embrace us / give us a better overall deal if we did things like: -Re-shaping the supporter base towards youth - hello Casey. Giving them (and us) future opportunity for sustained large crowds. -Promoting the team. Seeing Demon ads on telly (remember them?) is one thing but having them play down the road, train down the road, promote local events and facilities and support community based social programmes is worth vastly more than that in terms of NEW members/attendees. -Reducing our yearly match day requirement . Short/medium term - giving them wriggle room to maixmise $ - QPQ. -Supporting the team. There are only so many facilities available and affordable in the CBD over the summer and our efforts to juggle them over the years have frankly been a joke. Casey has, or will shortly have, every single thing we need to *properly* support and prepare the players. And across all of the above: -Long term fiscal stability. We're getting the deal at Casey, for 30 years, for bugger all dollar outlay. Our highest 'cost', community involvement, will feed our growth/income. I know your post was pointed more at playing games at Casey but it's a package deal IMO such that it would be negligent of us not to do so. Summary: You're talking winner talk. While the MFC is turning the corner, ticking the boxes, it's very existance is still threatened if things turn pear-shaped (and thank god this whole process has had some time to grow prior to the recent economic problems). We are in no position what-so-ever to force anyone's hand. We can however embrace our club, pres, board, footy dept and growing community. ~ Just seen your post of 10:07 PM. Straight up I've lived about 15 minutes drive (sideways and south) from Casey Fields for the past 3 years. All the years prior I was an inner-eastern suburbanite and you know what? I'd LOVE the community aspect of occasionally going to see Melbourne at CF if I was still there. But I've said enough. It's clear to me that you can see the benefits. You just dont care. It would be simply be too much personal effort for a couple of games a year. That and it's better we hold onto our pride at all costs - even the death of the club. Oh and btw, I drove from Clifton Hill to my place in 50 minutes the other day.
  22. Plenty of hard yakka ahead, but I'm with you btdemon. Go you good thing Demons!
  23. Thanks Demonland Edit: As per montasaurus, post moved to other thread.
