  1. There's a lot going on in the world. How do we find 'true' meaning? How fraught with danger is that search? It was an initial thought of injustice that sent me down a weeks long rabbit hole and lead to the podcast below. This thread will hopefully be much, much more than an analysis of the rights and wrongs of the podcast, though they're more than welcome. Bring forth your meaning, your struggles, your life changing moments. Your podcasts, book references, moments of clarity, transcendence and, dare I say, divinity. To that end I will say that these last few weeks have seen a strange convergence of things in my life that previously had maintained a strict level of isolation. I'm still working towards a greater understanding such that I can clearly present it to others. This post is, I guess, part of that process. I'm currently reading 'This is your brain on music' by Daniel J. Levitin. (book discussion thread future post) and plan to follow it with Jordan Petersons '12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos'. Note: The podcast is 2.5 hours. I found in thoroughly engaging and was surprised that it ended 'so quickly'. Note2: Please please adhere to forum rules. Private discussions of heated disagreement are vastly preferable to having the thread closed down. Thanks in advance. ===
  2. Hi Jara, Perhaps crippling in this case was too severe (exchange with limiting if you like) but you chose Hawthorn for a reason. What was the motivation for choosing Hawthorn and not e.g. St Kilda or Fremantle? The Hawks certainly haven't destroyed the roads etc etc.
  3. #Sowhatyouresaying No doubt your comment was tongue in cheek, but the resentment it broadly represents is self crippling.
  4. Somewhat relevent to the OP, though tangential, and to claims/discussions in the thread. Wasn't sure where else to put it. 1.4m views in four days.
  5. I watched the first season of 'Future Man' recently. Bite sized episodes (~26 minutes) of crass, cringe-worthy excellence! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4975856/videoplayer/vi1185265689?ref_=tt_ov_vi
  6. Which avatar should Choke select? Straw poll!
  7. Goodwin from 8:15 at the B&F appeared to be the FD view. The players view was that they knew their conditioning, loads and potential for injury better than the FD.
  8. Why even create the topic DaveyDee? An MFC employee from over a decade ago got a new job. OK. "Interesting". The eleven subsequent posts of yours go a fair way to answering my initial question, but do you have anything further to add?
  9. Plucking one from the many, I'm grateful for a winning season.
  10. I do hope that there's no 'interpretation' that allows the AFL to fine club supporters 20-100k for commenting on incorrect and undocumented rule of the week reamings by umpires. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-18/watch-the-umpire-commentary-afl-warns-clubs
  11. It seems that everyone at Eton Mall is unhappy now @nutbean - except the old Greek smokers. Ineffective legislation successfully deployed, but BOY did the government look tough on smoking. (And thank heavens the revenue keeps rolling in)
  12. Yep. Just tested, still there
  13. ^ Mr Jeff Lang playing there tomorrow night

  15. Coaching directives could also be at play here. We've had trouble stopping opposition run-ons and it's less costly to attempt to improve on our tempo control when we have a decent lead.
  16. Perhaps our manic running and heavy contested work doesn't allow for it yet? In those new stats we're generally as a team travelling further and faster than our opposition. One aspect anyway.
  17. Does it really matter where Port are on the ladder re attendance any year we play them at the 'G? For the record its was Melbourne 5th vs Port 8th. Both teams had won 4 on the trot, we were 8 - 4 going into the match. The percentage 'increase' in AFL crowds in 2016 vs 2006 was -9.6% This year to date vs 2006 is a more respectable -3.2%. Why did the MCG get it wrong? Ask them? As previously written though, 35% above the then record is ridiculous, sailing very close to taking the [censored]. If only it was raining cats and dogs ... a few more members might have landed from the clouds.
