actually I thought previous poster said the opposite the genuine 2nd ruck position to go, and be replaced by a part-time ruck with good forward potential its only a theory though and the AFL have not made a decision on limiting rotations yet

At the moment he is not on a "rookie salary" His salary stayed the same as 2009 when he was on senior list (with a 2009/2010 contract) I doubt he would be interested in staying on the rookie list on a real rookie salary which would be a huge comedown I'd be surprised if there was a limit on a veterans rookie salary I'm not even sure he is eligible for a 2nd year on the veterans rookie category Looks like his only hope is to be offered a place on senior list which is probably slim There again if he rips it up the next two weeks . . . .

I agree it all makes sense and people have been saying so, but everytime I read an "official" statement of rules I never see it spelt out. Would just like to see it in black and white somewhere Of course we wont have to wait long now for it all to play out

Are you absolutely sure on this? I know that this is explicitly stated for GWS (over 2 years starting next year) but I couldn't see it stated for GC17, just a max of 16 uncontracted players Do you have a reference?

Hmmm . . . I wouldn't have agreed 3 months ago, but I'm starting to warm to the idea There won't be much draft pickings next few years, so maybe another year wouldn't do too much harm, and a little depth of tall forwards would be prudent esp if Miller goes

A bit of nostalgia Darrel Baldock played 3 seasons with East Devonport in the NWFU (senior footy in TAS) and then accepted the position of Captain/Coach at Latrobe (another NWFU side). He was still a teenager! Not suggesting anything at all . . . just nostalgia

A player simply can't be objective Who wouldn't want the dream to go on forever? You only get one career You wouldn't be a good AFL player if you weren't always optimistic and positive Then there's the lifestyle, the good money, cameraderie, the fame, the vibe . . . . No, James in a few years will realise this was the best decision for him and the club How lucky is he really. To get to retire at 33 years, play for 14, captain last 3 years, B&F's, AA, 250+ games, rookie games record All this AND to go out on top. No form slips, no career ending injuries, no playing in VFL, no bagging etc etc. Its sad to see it come to an end and he will be missed, but it was a good decision

I don't think Newton will be around next year But, here's afew reasons he "might" get PJ's 2nd ruck position 1. Has been doing ruck work at Casey and picking up kicks around ground 2. His form at Casey has been quite good 3. Could kick a couple resting in forward line 4. Probably a better player than PJ 5. A "thank-you"/"farewell" reward for accepting the rookie position so club could get extra draft pick I don't think he would be any worse than PJ and TMR needs the odd rest

Moloney (if fit) for Davey Warnock for MacDonald Newton for PJ Have a feeling on Morton but cant see who if from bench Maybe he is backup if Moloney doesn't come up

He didn't die Robbie! He definitely was a "Great captain and heart and soul of the red and blue" especially during those 3 rough years

Do you have problems with comprehension Sylvinator? Or do you just not read the posts? I don't perceive posters writing him off. In fact those who are commenting on his weaknesses mostly seem to think he will end up a gun Honest but fair appraisal is reasonable in a forum or would you prefer the rose-coloured glasses approach?
