  1. So if we finish above Dogs and Crows at 8th (your example) And their 'After 1st Round' picks are exercised And one of Port/GCS/Bris get a compu pick The 11 pick has dropped to 14 (or 13 if we finish 9th, or 12 if we finish 10th) And, at 8th place we are still 2 picks off a mid pick So, Mid worth 16 or 17 This is why I think too many are overrating our compo picks
  2. from Compo thread in Drafting Board 1st round after club =============== GWS (after Crows/Davis for Crouch) Bulldogs (after Dogs/Ward) Melbourne (after Melbourne/Scully) Geelong (after Geelong/Ablett) Mid 1st round after non-finalists ======================== GWS (Geelong/Ablett via Gold Coast for O'Meara) Melbourne (Melbourne/Scully)
  3. Nah, he's waiting for Free Agency
  4. The 11 pick example could be pushed back another few places if A lower club's 'After 1st round' pick is exercised Another club qualifies for the 'losers' compo pick
  5. Robbie I think the "mid" first rounders are allocated in FIFO sequence, so GWS (ex Geelong) from 2010 pips our 2011 Mid first round. Anyone clarify? The "first round after club pick" as you say always reverts to position of original club in year being used
  6. Caution. I'd count on those CP's being closer to the 15 mark than the 10 mark
  7. Well I too hope that we can plug our gaps from the current list, after all they are young, many are low draft picks and we have a new coaching team. But common sense tells me we will not get the A graders without some topping up, and I don't want to wait too long because we are too unbalanced. We have a potentially potent forward line but without a potent midfield to feed them this will not allow our forwards to develop properly. The midfield won't turn around (if it does) overnight so I think a midfield established player top-up is a high priority. Re the KPB. I don't consider Garland a genuine KPB. Maybe one of the youngsters will develop as such but as insurance I'd like to see us shop for an est KPB but not with the same urgency as the midfield.
  8. HWL would be more succint don't you think rpfc? Sure Rangey would agree why waste 6 letters on him/it
  9. and how did we overlook the great JOK. He was still going strong mid 60's wasn't he?
  10. Agree he's not a dud. He's got a good football brain, reasonable skills and tons of courage. He's just too little and gets smashed too often. If he stays in AFL he will get killed one day. Not for us
  11. Ah, so he meant 'saints players' directly, not 'the saints'. The op did imply 'the saints' though. Anyway, carry on
  12. and don't forget Bobbie and Laurie........not really my cup-o-tea though
  13. how do you deal with the saints when trade week is over?
  14. Huh? That's a leap in logic I was just saying that in Thomas I saw a gun in the making in the way he displayed his skills in his early days. Don't read too much into it. I don't see how that translates to our list of midfielders You also say "we have earmarked on our list as potential stars" Have we? I just thought they represented best available and we "hope" they will develop into stars. I'm yet to see star quality in our midfield but I'm hopeful it will come at least for a few and especially with a new set of coaches. And I do think we should be targetting 1 or 2 established mids. (2 depends on how current crop develops in 2012) not counting JV (I'd also like to see another genuine KPB by the time our window opens)
  15. Agreed. Martin is nowhere near good enough to be a key position defender (or forward) I think many posters are getting ahead of themselves
  16. My horse Hero is only my second favorite animal Devil (my wolf) is my favorite animal. I'.m thinking of renaming him "Demon" but I need to convince Kit and Heloise
  17. you're going to be disappointed old55, but next year is a distinct possibility
  18. I don't think Caddy's manager covered himself in glory either
  19. Can't wait to see Mitch-the-[censored] straighten up the forward line. All of a sudden the forward line has good structure. Bring it on.
  20. nice summation there demoniac (without any histrionics too)
  21. Well I always thought he was a gun-in-the-making right from the start
