Liam Jurrah's attempt at a comeback
jabberwocky replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
He didnt, but my mother is a plucky little Maltese woman and she would give him a run for his money. Then she probably would pray that he would come to his senses knowing her. But then my old lady wouldn't have bashed his girlfriend either, if that actually happened as reported. If he was about to hurt any woman and I was there I would use whatever force necessary to stop it. If he came to me some time later and apologised I would wish him well and hope that he meant it. Perhaps I think differently. -
Liam Jurrah's attempt at a comeback

Judge, jury and executioner, got it. I must have less understanding of the circumstances than you do, I have no idea what happened. What if Jurrah turned it around and started giving lectures to indigenous men about domestic violence? Would you wish him well then? I don't care that he played for Melbourne by the way. -
Liam Jurrah's attempt at a comeback

Wishing people well is the opposite of wishing people ill. You don't need to approve of someone's crimes or lifestyle to wish someone well. Not sure where in WJ's post you got the message that those actions were perfectly fine. I've known a few indigenous men who have been ratbags in thier younger days to then become good elders and leaders in thier later years trying to steer young blokes in the right direction. The hate has to stop somewhere. -
What is a "real man"?

I thought this was about me, some days I get in a solid 14 hours.

This thread needs to be deleted and never spoken of again. Bad things are happening.

What a shame that Goose was moved on a few years ago.

Mate I have been engaging in decent debate over this player since I saw him play his first games at Casey. The player has shown above average skill level, and is below average in nearly every other meaningful requirement. He was peeling off contests at Casey in his first few games and leaving teammates battling 1:2 and 1:3, in late 2013 he was still doing it. He has had four coaches and I would suggest countless people attempting to get in his head and change his game. He deserves at this point to be known as an average player in a poor side. I would love Roos to come in and wave a magic wand and turn Jack Watts into a better than average footballer, history suggests that it is unlikely. People still spout off his so called upside virtually rewriting his pre-draft profile and quoting his draft camp stats verbatim. I go off what I see, and I see an ordinary and unaccountable footballer that plays with little vigour. I respect Roos efforts to try to squeeze as much as he can out of him, and would dearly love him to become a very good and accountable team focussed footballer. We need to move away from thinking that this bloke is going to be anything but a bit player in our future. He is just not that good.

Emperor Roos decrees: From this day forth young Watts you will be known as a midfielder. When you come people will say "Here comes the engine rooom of the Melbourne football team" You will develop arms as thick as a bullocks neck and a lust for the ball rivalled only by Phil Scully's lust for monte carlos. Opponents will fear you, men will want to be you and women will want you. Now for you Old Man Russian. You will have the poise and grace of a gazelle, you will be able to play on a field of potato chips and not a single one will break. etc etc

Yep would be a consideration I would think.

Unfortunately Jack Watts is a middle tier player in a poor football team. He has been tried in most positions and has not been particularly successful in any of them. Trying him as a midfielder is next on the list in an attempt to try and get a decent and consistent output from him. If he wasn't drafted where he was we wouldn't be discussing him. Standby for outrage.

Or replace "watts" with "sylvia"

Morton is a case study in the uselessness of outside players. Particularly one with poor skills under pressure. Could not play on an opponent. Tapscott has poor agility which is terminal for a player of his height.
-
Who are these demonlanders proclaiming Roos as the messiah?
-
You have missed the point rp. Winning a contested ball is the catalyst for the attack. If watts and his opponent win the same amount of ball but his opponent wins some hard ball then I would suggest in most cases the opponent would be the more effective player on the day. If you can't win a contest in today's footy you are of limited value. It's got nothing to do with being defensive. You just cannot be an effective midfielder these days without winning contests. If he plays wide and is effective he will be manned up soon enough, what then? Moral: Watts needs to change his game to be a relevant footballer.

So Prendergast was really a tactical genius tanking the draft to get us a better coach. Unreal.
-
Why punish us? (Assuming that you are not a well proportioned female.)
-
Not if his opponent gets 20 and half of them are contested RP. The mids that you have mentioned get 30 - 50% CPS. At this point in time I cannot imagine a universe in which Watts averages 10 CPs a game. Clearances would be even more of a stretch.

Check Survellance Devices Act as well Redleg.
-
That is technically correct. There would be a good chance that robbos office phone would be equipped with a facility to record. If that were the case it could be an offence to record a conversation without consent of the other party/parties.
-
Incorrect.

This too bemuses me. I reckon he will tried from a wing and Roos will set him up behind the contest as in a 2008 Aaron Davey.
