What a load of BS!!!. Luke Hodge is only the 3rd no. 1 draft pick ever to win a premiership,no. 1 picks don't guarantee anything. How did Hawthorn get Luke Hodge in the first place? Then Freo coach Chris Connolly traded his No. 1 pick and pick 36 for Trent Croad and Luke Mcfarlane and the Hawks picked up Hodge & Mitchell and got Croad back 2 years later. Connolly will go down as the last coach in history to trade away a no. 1 draft pick,Imbecile!!!!!! We have to win as many games as we can next season to get wins and confidence into our young list. The best 2 players out of the last 2 drafts were Joel Selwood and Rhyce Palmer and they were both pick 7's,meaning you can win as many games as you can and still pick up gun players. I'm hoping we win at least 5 games next season and start building a winning culture. The Hawks only won 4 games in Clarkson's first year,it can turn around quickly with confidence building wins. Bailey wouldn't want to finish last in his first 2 seasons of a 3 year contract,you just don't know how Jimmy and the board would view that,especially with a bloke called Leigh Matthews looking for a new coaching job after a year out of the game. I'd take Matthews in a heart beat,you play 2 bad games under him,you're finding your form in the 2's,not at AFL level.You could play 4 bad games under Daniher and he wouldn't drop you,even when we had guys pushing for selection. We have a lot of early picks this year,lets win as many games as we can in '09 and start building a winning culture.

I started this thread about Prismall on June 6 when he wasn't getting a game at the Cats but now he may have cemented a position and if he plays in a premiership team,he won't be going anywhere.He still hasn't signed a new contract with the Cats so maybe the Finals team is his bargaining chip,play me or trade me!!! Geelong's midfield won't change for at least the next 4 years as far as retirees are concerned and at 23 next season,he has a tough decision to make. I really hope we can pick him up,he's a hard,tough mid that we desperately need,he'd be our no. 1 mid for years to come.It will be interesting to see how he goes tonight against the Swans. I bought a Bulldogs membership when they were on the brink a few years ago and i bought a Kangaroos membership in February. While i love the Dees,i'm a footy lover in general and i do admire other teams and when they need help,why not chip in,what goes around,comes around and when we're in trouble,supporters from other teams will chip in and help us. What pisses me off is the AFL has $100 million in the future fund and they always want 2-3 Victorian teams struggling,so they can relocate them ($100 million package for the Kangaroos to go to the Gold Coast,all debt is wiped) and relocate a team to West Sydney. When the TV networks paid $780 million for the TV rights,Demetriou said "this will guarantee the survival of all 16 AFL clubs".Now Melbourne and Kangaroos are on the brink and they won'y give us a bigger slice of the TV rights revenue. The 16 clubs put on the show and each club should be given $millions more from the $780 Million but Demetriou wants to keep it out of reach in this future fund and keep a couple of teams on the brink,then offer a $100 million package to relocate!!!!!!!! With the $780 million from the TV rights,no club should ever struggle again.

Each club has 1000's of finals members,where they'll buy their memberships when their team is playing finals and won't sign up when their team is bottom 6.So i'm tipping Melbourne non members this year will like the improvement and all the youngsters coming on and sign for '09. 35,000 members won't be far off.We need more MCC members to join.

There'll be no such thing as a back 6 next year,depends on who we're playing.Earlier this year Cameron the Bruce played on Brad Johnson and on the weekend Belly played on him so it'll be more like a rotating back 10 plus there'll always be Rivers or Whelan injured,Bell or Frawley dropped. Depth is the name of the game these days.

Thank you West Tank Eagles!!!!! I just got back from the TAB with my $530 winnings. At the start of this thread last week i told everyone to get on the Tigers as the Eagles will tank again. I put $100 on the Tigers @ $2.30 under 39.5 points and $100 over 39.5 points @ $7.30,couldn't lose either way. I [censored] myself when i saw Kerr run out i must admit. Thanks again West Tank Eagles,$530 will come in handy,i'll upgrade my Dees Membership or spend it in the DEES shop. Now who do the Tankers play next week

Jones finished 2nd B & F last year in his first full season,what more do you guys want,name me any AFL footballer in any era who won the B & F in their first season? There's probably a couple and i know we had our worst injury riddled season i can remember last year but it's still a great effort.I love Jones because he is hard and tough and loves it that way,For about 3 minutes yesterday there was about 5 ballups on the spot and Jones was at the bottom of each pack trying to feed our receivers,he has the biggest balls in the team which is what we need.You won't see the best of Jones until he's 23-27.Our top 2 mids last year were McLean at 21 and Jones at 19,playing against the mature mids of West Coast and Geelong,we are going to get smashed more often than not in this situation,wait until McLean is 25 and Jones is 23,then you'll see them competing against mids their own size and experience with more support than they've had the last 18 months. To say Jones should be trade bait,WOW,i can't begin to tell you how stupid that is.

Great post,i agree with every word.Watts is our greatest "need",even though we desperately need another topline midfielder and Rich is very tempting.What i saw Rich do on Wednesday was class but he did fade in and out but what kid that age doesn't? I really pray we don't draft Naitanui,sure he has a great leap but he needs to learn a hell of a lot around the ground and if he is going to be so dominant in the ruck,opposition gun mids like Judd,Kerr,Ablett,Black,Mitchell will rove to him and they're good enough to do it and win the clearances. The top 3 teams in hitouts this year are Port,Freo and Dees and not one of these teams can even make the 8,so a gun ruckman doesn't guarantee anything and we're already doing well in that area,although White doesn't have long to go.The Bulldogs are ranked 13th in ruck this year,and they've lost 1 game,enough said! We must take Watts,no-one knows how good he'll be,but if he fulfills his potential,we will have a key forward we desperately need for the next 15 years,if he plays as long as Neitz,Richoman.

We don't need a new Chairman to come in and ask it's members to pay off it's debt. Paul Gardner could have done this years ago but he was against this plan. As others have said,it lacks imagination. If we get into debt in the future,do we just ask our members to wipe the debt again??? If so,what's the point of having an administration? Geelong were $7 Million in debt and Brian Cook came on board and worked extremely hard and wiped it's debt in 3-4 years. Geelong didn't expect it's members to pay the price for the previous administration's debt blowout. If the MFC members pay off the debt,Stynesy looks like a hero for doing what? They could have made me Chairman if that's all it takes!!! You need to work harder than that Stynesy!!!

A few weeks ago when WCE played the Bombers at the Dome,Kerr was a late withdrawal and watched the game from the stands,TANK. The next game against Geelong at Subi,Kerr played because Geelong were going to win anyway,by 135 points!!! So Kerr is rested against Essendon & Richmond. I'm going back to the TAB tomorrow to put another $100 on Richmond to win over 39.5 points @ $7.30 Cats beat them by 135 points,Hawks beat them by 60 points. They're trying to get their % under ours!

West Coast are resting Kerr for this weeks game against the Tigers. They state that Kerr needs a rest due to a couple of niggles including the stingray sting.Would they rest him if they were playing for a top 4 position??? Absolutely not! I didn't see anything today to change my mind.My pick would be Watts,although he wasn't well fed today,he's had a great carnival and won the Larke.Rich is a gun and is ready to go now,he could play with Geelong,Bulldogs this weekend.If we get him i won't be disappointed but i want a Key forward for the next 10 years and Watts is bloody quick and a strong mark and a straight kick.Naitanui didn't do it for me today but i can see the hype but i think he has a lot of work to do around the ground before he lives up to this hype.Others i was impressed with are Banner,Hurley,Vickery,Zaharakis ?,Hartlett.
