  1. You're wrong Hightower, the players want wins more than the PP,that's why they want to keep winning at the PP's expense!!! Liam Jurrah kicked 4 goals and he'll keep trying to kick 4,5,6 every week. Winning is the highest priority for the players,PERIOD. Did you see Moloney sing the song? Tell him if he keeps singing the song,we'll lose the PP. I know what he'd say to you!!!
  2. Us Demonlanders have no say on what happens re. PP.Sure it would be a great benefit to have an extra gun player on our list but that's not what the players want, they want to win every game they can and that's good enough for me as they train their guts out 12 months a year, play their guts out every week because winning is the only way to breed confidence and team success going forward. If that's what the players want,we have no voice on this matter, they play,we spectate, period. Saints won 8 of the last 10 or 11 last year and that gave them huge confidence in the 6 month pre season and look what they've done this year. They had 6 months of belief and every training session would have been extremely positive. Imagine pre season at the Dees this year if we had 3-4 more wins, confidence would be sky high for 6 months and round 1 couldn't come soon enough.I'd be happy to get Scully and miss PP if we had a few more wins.Freo and WC probably won't take Scully because of go home factor and WA won the carnival and have a lot of guns to pick from,Freo didn't even take Rich,i know Hill will be a very good player but Rich willl embarass them. The only way we will miss Scully is if the Tigers finish below us,which is possible with our players hunger for more wins. Bottom line for me is if the players want to keep winning and miss the PP,that's good enough for me,they train and play 12 months a year,i watch!!!!
  3. Tom Scully didn't have a great day yesterday but he moves well and works really hard between contests,a lot harder than anyone we have at the Dees.He played forward flank all day with a run in the middle for 10 minutes in the last 1/4. He is a very good kick on both sides of his body and you wouldn't know if he was left or right if you didn't know before the game,in fact my brother said he's a left footer,i honestly thought he was a right footer,he's that good and beautifully balanced both sides. A lot of left footers,Green & Davey included don't have a great right boot and Davey got caught on Queen's B'day on his wrong side on at least 4 occasions and had to go back onto his left, the Pies took his left side space and forced him onto his right, teams soon work you out and Davey has suffered a bit this year,so it's great to see Scully equally at home on both sides. He doesn't have the left foot penetration of Daniel Rich, but Rich gets his penetrating power from his big rump/hips,Scully is very slight but will build up in the coming years.I stood behind him at the 1/4 time huddle and he is 180-182cm tops. One thing Scully has in spades is his toughness,he flattened blokes a lot bigger than him and dives into the bottom of packs and has lightning hands in heavy traffic. He's extremely fit and runs all day without a rest. I would say he has as good a kick, accuracy wise, but less penetrating than Daniel Rich and the toughness of Joel Selwood and reads the play very well and is beautifully balanced both sides of his body and great in heavy traffic but it was U/18 level. We need him in our midfield round 1 next year.
  4. This Sunday 11.10am at Trevor Barker Oval,Sandringham. If any Dees fans want to see Scully in one of his last games of the year,he is playing for the Stingrays for only the 4th time this year due to School footy and U/18 carnival committments. My nephew plays for the Sandy Dragons and i warned him to keep his elbows down around Scully  It should be a good game as the Sandy Dragons only lost to the undefeated Falcons by 2 goals at Sandy 2 weeks ago, albeit Ben Cunington,Gary Rohan & Allan Christensen weren't playing for the Falcons due to the U/18 carnival. Jono Nash who is running 3rd in the comp. B & F (according to TAC Future Stars) will take on Scully head to head in what should be a good match up. Entry is free
  5. We've tanked so well this year,i'd hate to see us drop off now and have a few wins and lose priority!!!
  6. I can't get to the game this week as i have a wedding but i'll be wearing my Dees jumper under me bag of fruit, just for you Jimma!!! Jim,Cancer will be no match for you, you'll beat it with ease,it won't know what hit it  Thinking of you and your family.
  7. The illness could be one of his children or his wife and he needs to take time out to support them.
  8. Naita is a season ahead of Watts in his development. They both will be very good players for their club. Win/Win.
  9. Scully and best KPF.We're not going to make Richmond's mistake of taking the 2 best mids (at the time) and leaving the 2 best KPF's to win their team a flag. End of story.
  10. I saw Gary Rohan play for the Falcons against Sandy, who my nephew plays for and he's going to be a great pick up even though he's very raw still. He's very quick and agile for his size and great below his knees. I still say we take the best mid and best KPF. Richmond took the 2 best mids (at the time)in Deledio and Tambling and Hawthorn took the 2 best KPF's. Richmond should have taken the best mid,Deledio and best KPF,Roughead. Buddy didn't have as good a carnival as Roughead.
  11. If anyone thinks Buddy's only worth pick 2,you're deluded!!!!!
  12. I'd also love Lethal at the Dees. Our biggest onfield problem is 100% intensity,we didn't have it under Daniher and we don't have it under Bailey. This is solely the coaches domain,to bring the best out of each player and get him to play at 100%,whether he's a champion or a rookie. That's what i loved about Leigh Matthews at the Lions,if you weren't playing at your optimum, you would be playing in the 2's finding it for 3-4 weeks. TJ was the perfect example and it's the same under Voss,TJ never worked hard enough but he got away with under Daniher for so long and Bailey and the rest of the AFL could see it,so he moved him on as soon as he arrived.Voss won't accept it and Trav will be playing 2's footy until he realises how hard he has to work. Most of our players wouldn't get a game under Matthews and Voss, purely on workrate. They would rather bring in a less talented player with a much higher workrate over a very talented player (TJ) with a lower workrate. Lethal would turn over our list and take us back to a top 4 team quicker than any other coach and he's on the market, just waiting for the right list.He won't touch Richmond or North because both lists can't be rebuilt with GC17 and W. Sydney coming in but if the right list became available,he'd jump at it. Under Matthews, most of our list would think [censored],is this how hard we have to work to be a top 4 team. Lethal would also realise why Killer went no. 1 draft pick, because he was the best KPF in the draft and that was our no. 1 priority.
  13. We are the LAZIEST team in the AFL,our workrate is at about 60% tops,we just aren't interested, rather be anywhere else!!! Blokes like Valenti are busting a gut week after week at Casey and would give anything to be in the ones, yet blokes like Mclean just don't work hard enough. I've said for 2 years, trade Mclean while we can get something decent for him,he's not a midfield leader, just does his own thing and doesn't work hard enough when hasn't got the ball and just jogs from contest to contest. We still give away easy goals from stupid mistakes,Lions first goal,Frawley handballs to Rich who goals after Johnson can't bend over touch it through.Second goal, centre square holding free kick,Goal. It doesn't matter that we draft Watts,Scully, Butcher or Trengove,we don't work hard enough and will never be a top 4 team with our workrate. If Geelong or St. Kilda had our workrate, they would be 8-10th on the ladder. No HEART!!!!!!!
  14. Jump on the train at Robina or Nerang and hop off at Southbank an hour later.

    Ricky Petterd

I don't rate Petterd at all. We should've taken Alwyn Davey who the Bombers selected a few picks after we took Petterd!!! GC17 can have him for one of their draft picks.
  16. Rushing Greeny back means the coaching staff is looking for another win asap,so much for the win less than 4 games theory!!! The way the boys played the last 2 weeks,we'll definately win more than 4 and Bails needs a contract extension.
  17. Second half: P. Burgoyne-16 disposals,13 UNCONTESTED!!!!! S. Salopek-15 disposals,13 UNCONTESTED!!! D. Pearce-12 disposals,10 UNCONTESTED!!! Total: P. Burgoyne-35 disposals,31 UNCONTESTED!!!! S. Salopek-33 disposals,26 UNCONTESTED!!! D. Pearce-28 disposals,23 UNCONTESTED!!!!! Dean Bailey is teaching us to play unaccountable and uncontested football!!!!!!!!
  18. Different coach, same [censored]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To half time: P. Burgoyne-19 disposals,18 UNCONTESTED!!!!! S. Salopek-18 disposals,13 UNCONTESTED!!!!!! D. Piearce-16 disposals,13 UNCONTESTED!!!!!!! There is absolutely no pressure on their midfield,we will never win a game applying no pressure to their midfield. Result-4 goals in 8 minutes to close the half. We didn't man up under Daniher and we don't under Bailey!!!!!
  19. Yes,you're right dee-luded,we're not going to make the 8 this year so we must get as many games into our kids as possible and for this reason i have reservations about Robbo this year.He won't be around when we're contesting a top 4 position so i'd rather put 40-60 games into someone who will be there when we're top 4.It doesn't matter if Robbo kicks 20,40 or 60 goals this year,it won't count for anything in 2011-14 when we're top 4-6.
  20. I also think DB is doing a good job.The first thing he did was restructure our backline (dumped Carroll who would be still playing under Daniher).I like our back 8-9 but have queries on Martin & Frawley, hope they prove me wrong. With Brock,Moloney,Grimes out injured, there wasn't much he could do with the midfield and it was too big a load for Junior and Jones to carry. With Neitz and Robbo out injured and Miller warm and cold and Davey playing up the ground, there wasn't much he could do with the forward line. When we last had a full list in 2006,we were the best Victorian team, then the worst 2 injury hit years in our clubs long history sent us to the wooden spoon and the rebuild began. No coach can be judged through that period but he's on the right track. With a full list, things can turn very quickly because there are only 6 very good teams each year and the other 10 are very ordinary. Hawks went from bottom to top in 4 years and Richmond went from 15 to 9th last year, because the bottom 8 teams are very ordinary. I expect the Dees to be somewhere from 6-10 in 2010.From there we will try and consolidate a top 4 spot for 3-4 years and if all the planets line up,have a crack at the big one in our 3-4 year window. Having the second youngest list gives us time but we have to rise up the ladder with a strong list and many teams over the years have risen from the bottom, only to hang around 8-10 for years because the went too early and tried to rise with a list that was average at best. The perfect example is Hawthorn and Richmond.4 years ago Richmond tried to rise too early and in Terry Wallace's first year, they won 10 games(Hawks won 5) ,second year they won 11 games,(Hawks won 9)third year they won 3 games (Hawks won 13) and last year they won 11(Hawks won 17 and the Flag) The reason for this is Hawthorn bottomed out an extra year while Richmond went too early with an average list that didn't make the 8 in any of the 4 years. Now with Richo,Bowden,Cousins 32+ and Simmonds and Brown getting on,they will need to rebuild again in a couple of years and players like Cotchin,Vickery and Foley will be languishing in an ordinary team. We have one of the top 3 under 22 lists in the AFL and all we need is time and development. Our window is 2011-14 By that time Geelong,Bulldogs,Saints will all be washed up 2009-10 will put another 40 games into our young list.
  21. I said last week that we'd beat the Kangas in Rd. 1 and Bring-Back-Powell said this: What's with everyone predicting a win against North? We always play dog [censored] against them. You have no faith in the Dees BBP. We'll win easy
  22. Well, getting within 3 goals was probably too optimistic at this stage but look where both teams are at!!! Bulldogs are top 4 and we are basically starting from scratch, how many players with less than 30 games do we have? Plenty. We played well for 3 quarters and our 4 quarter game will come with experience. The worst is behind us and there is huge upside in the coming years. Having said all that,i reckon we'll beat the Kangas in Rd. 1.
  23. Thanks for all the updates, keep them coming. Bulldogs are a top 4 side,so i'll be happy with a close game as they are pretty much full strength, but i wouldn't knock back a win,but to get within 3 goals would be a win for me as they are at least 3 years more advanced than us. Beautiful day up here on the Gold Coast today. Go Dees.
  24. This is an amazing idea that will be very well received, you should be ashamed of your attitude Rhino!!! You'd obviously rather see our jumper with an empty space tomorrow, you have absolutely no foresight into how much positive PR we'll gain out of this. Well done MFC
  25. I personally think Bell's times up.The game & team have gone past him. How do the new Aboriginals look? I'd love to see some more pace off half back through the guts. Hangin out for the Hawks game.
