  1. Naracoorte is 335km to Adelaide and 451km to Melbourne.
  2. It's hard to know how many "barrackers" we've lost over the years but we're better off without them and if their new club won a flag, they wouldn't feel part of it like someone who's supported their team forever, just bandwagoners. After Hawthorn won the flag 12,000 brand new members signed up,people who wouldn't support the Hawks when they were on the bottom of the ladder just 4 years earlier!!! Premiership members i call them. Hawthorn had their record membership after they won their flag,Dees had our record membership this year after we won the spoon. Which club has the more loyal supporters?
  3. Butch won't slide to 11,he has far too much upside-great lead, pack mark, huge tank. His kicking will improve at AFL level,if he does nothing but kick all preseason,he'll improve out of sight,he's extremely good at every other part of his game. He'll never kick like Fev or Lloyd but Rewoldt has struggled for years and improved greatly this year.Look at Richo, struggled his whole career and has still kicked 800+ goals. Just a shame we won't draft him.I expect him to go 5-8.
  4. I heard the interview and DB sounds very upbeat about the coming 12 months and so he should as he's now allowed to win as many games as possible for the first time in his coaching career. It'll make a huge difference just getting back Wonna,Blease,Strauss.I'm sick of these 12 months injuries including Grimes and Garland. I saw Davey,Wonna and Bennell at Southland on Thursday night and Wonna looked good as he bauked 2 chicks as he stepped onto the elevator.
  5. Bradshaw wasn't in the Fev deal but he left knowing he'd be playing a lot down back next year,so he left as a result of the Fev deal and Lions offered him 2 years and Blues offered him 3. So Vosssy would have to be fuming after paying pick 12,Henderson and Bradshaw for Fevola who won't get his usual supply with half the feed going to Jono Brown.
  6. I'm looking to upgrade my membership for 2010 and i need some info on the President's and the Trident membership.Does anyone know which part of the ground these 2 memberships are and do you get a reserved seat each game? Can you take in a guest paying or non paying? How many President's memberships are on offer or is it unlimited? Any other info will be much appeciated.
  7. Just what we need, another 10k on the Demon Credit Card!!! He'll be home next week and the drafts are 6 & 8 weeks away. Sounds like he doesn't want to join us,so i'm not fussed either way,his hearts not in it.We need speed through the midfield,he'll slow us down anyway,i'd rather Scully,Trengove and Grimes in there,if Ball's in there, one of those guys isn't. Let's draft an 18 yo kid that would be proud to wear the Red & Blue, rather than a 25yo that will only join us because it's his only realistic option and he'll grow to like us.
  8. We tell Luke Ball that we are going to take you in the PSD or ND,so make it easy for us and enter the PSD and let us take another young kid. There's no guarantee Saints will win a flag, they have 6 A Graders and the rest good footballers but are very well coached with a great gameplan. There's no guarantee the Flogpies will win a flag, they played 6 top 4 teams this year and went 1-5 and the win was against the Bulldogs by 1 point and they played us twice in the first 8 rounds for a guaranteed 8 points and played interstate 4 times. The Pies are further away than most people realise and Jack Anthony and Cloke aren't setting the world on fire,Medhurst is shot and Daisy Thomas is the new blond pretty boy outside receiving Woewodin. Is it so disastrous to come to the Dees, everyone outside our club carry on like we've won the spoon for the last 10 years, forgetting the fact that we were the no. 1 Victorian team in 2006 before the worst 2 years of injuries in our history sent us plummetting to the bottom of the ladder. Luke, either way your a DEE.
  9. Jesse Smith is a huge risk to waste on PSD1,i can't believe it's being debated. Where would he fit and who's spot would he take in our best 18?
  10. Any reason why the Bluey is 7 weeks after our last game, first weekend after our last game wouldn't be a bad idea. Here's my top 5: 1. Davey 2. Bruce 3. Moloney 4. Green 5. Morton Best clubman...... Jordan Mcmahon, our most important goal of the year!!! Best comeback......Col Sylvia, next 3 years could be anything-Freak. Best find...............Liam Jurrah, next 10 years could be anything-Freakier.
  11. Why is the ND in 6 weeks time? We start training now and most other clubs will start soon and our new draftees have to wait 6 weeks before they even meet our playing group and pull on a footy boot and train with us,starting preseason behind the 8 ball,i'm sure Scully would like to start training with us now,i know they'll be training their own program but it's not the same. Ball will be playing with us next year,he won't return to the Saints now,nor will he risk the ND and end up at Richmond or Freo.
  12. I thought that was terrific and if it didn't bring a tear to your eye, you're not passionate enough about the Dees.I was hoping to see Jaka's airgoal or when he kicked the goal in front of the member's and kissed his brother Glen,Priceless!!! Who put this together?
  13. I disagree, next year we'll have 8 rotating mids and blokes like Scully and Trengove starting wing and half back as well as having a run through the middle, there'll be plenty of room for Ball in the Midfield and he'll be the one on the bottom of the pack feeding it out to our runners. We need his toughness and leadership in the middle and all our young mids will grow their own game exponentially. Ball wants to play for a team in contention now and knows we are 4-5 years away, which by that stage he'll be 30,that may keep him at the Saints but he'll be on less money but he'll have a chance to win a flag in the next 3 years.Andrew Lovett with his pace and run and carry might reduce Ball's gametime even further. He can't get to the Pies now and won't risk ending up anywhere in the ND,if it was 12 months down the track GC17 would pick him up in a heartbeat as they struggle to land a big fish. It's Saints or us and with his relationship with Ross Lyon strained and the way he fits into their structure,we're odds on.
  14. I said on Wednesday i was in 2 minds about Bally but with Scully,Trengove,Jones,Beamer,Grimes what we need is another muture age mid who oozes leadership and toughness and his onfield leadership for our 18-20yo mids would be extroadinary. As far as i can see his choice is us or the Saints,it'd be too risky going into the ND and he'd always be 4th,5th,6th mid at the Saints which is why he wanted to bail. We can certainly pay him more than the Saints could offer him.Ross Lyon could have accepted pick 25 from the Pies,i reckon we'll get him for nothing.
  15. I'm still in 2 minds about Ball.On the one hand he's a tough in and under mid who could feed our outside receivers and provide us great leadership and experience but on the other hand when the footy is cleared he really struggles to get from contest to contest and his opponent exploits this and runs hard off him all day just like Brock. If we took him as PSD1,it'd be a no-brainer but Rossy Lyon knows that if he doesn't do a deal with the Pies,he'll come to us for nothing so he'll go to the Pies.
  16. Jack's opponent Trent Goodrem was BOG for Centrals,so while Jack is good offensively,he got burnt in the GF. He needs to work harder the other way, which will come with experience. I won't be fussed either way if we draft him.
  17. Goose is going to the Blues,almost a done deal,we don't want/need him.
  18. Another stupid post by a first time poster, surprise, surprise!!! DB is the only coach in VFL/AFL history where in his first 2 years of coaching,he isn't allowed to win more than 4 games each year.Had we not had to tank this year we would have won at least 7 games. The FD had the choice of winning 7 games and getting wins and confidence into this young list or win 4 and tank the rest and receive picks 1 & 2.In our dire financial position and hanging on by a thread to survive and with GC17 and WS18 coming in,we had to take pick 1 & 2,and DB has achieved this goal. In 2 years,DB has turned over 16 of Danihers team and made the decision to trade TJ and Brock (i believe Brock was told he was going to be put on the trade table, had a think, then called his old midfield coach in Brett Ratten to see if there was any interest.Brock said 3 weeks ago that he can't wait to start preseason with the Dees and deliver his best year next year WITH US.) We are in a total rebuild and DB will only retain 4-6 of Danihers best 22.This rebuild must be done correctly because if we try and rise up the ladder with an average list,we will only reach 9-10th and be stuck for years without being able to get early draft picks.Hawthorn and Richmond were rebuilding at the same time and Hawks did it properly with a full clean out of Graham,Hay,Chick, made the right draft decisions in Roughead @ 2 and Buddy @ 5 and went from bottom to top in 4 years.Richmond under Wallace went the "top up only" route and picked up Deledio,Tambling,Meyer,Pattison,Polo and topped up with recycled Brown,Kingsley,Mcmahon and Cousins. The Tigers won 11 games in their first season under Wallace but only one win was against a top 8 team,Freo were 8th.The next year they won 10 games and again against bottom 8 teams. The bottom line is they rose up the ladder with an average at best list, couldn't break the 8 and bottomed out again. We must get this rebuild right and tough decisions have been made on TJ and Brock and delisting Carroll,Holland,Pickett,White,Yze,Ward,Wheatley,Whelan,Robbo,Godfrey and Brown and Neita retired. As well as winning only 4 games,DB has developed our young group and is introducing versatility into this list by playing Morton,Grimes,Bennel in 3-4 different positions and creating a new position for Davey off Half Back which has given Davey his best and most consistent year yet.He has re-constructed the back 6,has a totally new midfield to work with with Scully,Trengove,Blease,Strauss,Grimes,Jones,Junior,Beamer with others rotating through there. The forward line is coming together with Watts,Jurrah,Wonna,Bate and Sylvia having his best year at the club this year and Frawley had a very good year and took some big scalps. I believe DB has us moving in the right direction and for the first time in his coaching career next year,he can try and win as many games as possible.I'm hoping for 7+ wins next year (we would have won 7 this year without tanking,so this is achievable next year) and 10 + wins in 2011. The FD stated this week that we will be looking at 4-6 years which means 80-100 games of experience into our young list. We've waited this long,a little more patience is required.
  19. Jack,go and have a blast in Bali and drink all the Arak you like as you'll be going through a gruelling preseason soon.Me and 2 mates went to Bali when we turned 18 and had 21 days of surfing, drinking at the Sari Club,Double 6 and Gado Gado until 4am,wake up have a ham and cheese jaffle and chocolate milkshake and hit the surf,go out for dinner, hit the Sari Club.......for 21 days, took us 3 weeks to sober up. Best holiday of my life
  20. Lepper has just signed with the Tigers today,DB met with him last week,it's a shame he would have been great for our young backline.
  21. Hawks need defenders more than mids and they only have pick 9 and Port want our pick 2 so they can take Trengove,NO WAY. I'd take an 18 yo Trengove over a 27yo with a dodgy knee as when we're ready to compete,Burgoyne will be 30 and Trengove will be 21. Choco gave Bailey his start in coaching,so DB wouldn't want to take Burgoyne for free in the PSD,it's business but DB won't do it,i would but i'm a [censored]
  22. Now that Lepper is back on the market,we should seriously consider luring him to the Dees to groom our young, developing backline.. Our backline would benefit no end from a triple premiership defender and from all reports,he's a great teacher and communicator. I know we currently have a backline coach but with a bit of juggling around,we can fit him in.
