  3. When Jackson came on board one of his first utterances was "you've got to fix the footy first". So he was in agreement with you SWYL. As an aside, were it not for a lack of multiple font sizes and references to "the Northern Stand", I'd swear you've had similar discussions with the same bloke - different name though

  5. Not just you Dazzler. There's a few I'd have let go long before Garlett. On his form before blowing his shoulder last year he'd have been handy while Kozzie prepares for AFL duties. I wish Jeffy well

  8. Naive mate. Have a look right across the league. Our blokes are far from the only ball butchers going round. Then have a look at the U18 champs. Making the draft pool doesn't equate to having elite skills. Anything the club can do to improve, even 1%, should be considered a positive rather than derided
  9. Don't mind this. At the very least we've upgraded our KPF depth. On exposed form he's better than both T.Smith or Keilty (sorry Drunkn). He's good insurance. I like his attitude too - not satisfied with being depth but wanting to push up into the senior team. He fills a need, even if it's a "break glass in case of emergency" need - I'd much prefer him to a speculative Isaac Weetra, Rhys Healy or Daniel Hayes type
  10. I think the first person to put messiah and Jackson in the same post is you mate. I haven't read anyone here suggesting Jackson is going to put the club on his back and lead us to the promised land. The post above from Watson11 is more typical With regard to the Buckenara article, in another thread experienced poster Prodee has highlighted examples of why Buckenara's analysis should be treated with caution - if not disdain I think this kid will be fun to watch old dee, sooner rather than later so strap yourself in and enjoy the ride
  11. De-composing ?
  12. A bigger Bont ! I was in the Young / Kemp camp. I see Young developing into a Nick Haynes type & I'm a huge fan of Haynes. Something about Kemp to me suggests he'll be the type of player who changes games so he's the one I'm spewing we missed - especially now he's at Carlton. And I really wanted an athletic tall mid with breakaway speed who is also an aerial threat. Having said that I'm now firmly on the Jacko train (and the Kozzie caboose). We are overdue for another Jacko & we've done well with them in the past with both output & entertainment. Mark, Ricky & Allen all gave us plenty and Peter was an off-field star. I suspect had that latest highlights package of Jackson been more widely distributed earlier a lot of skeptics - myself included- would have been far more comfortable with using Pick 3 on him. What I love in that package is that he is a 360 degree mark. He takes them in front, leaping in from either side, over the top of packs, on the lead & standing in the goalsquare. And if we play him forward / mid. I might just have got my athletic tall mid with breakaway speed who is also an aerial threat after all. While you can't know what heights our two latest additions will eventually reach, I reckon they are both gonna be fun to watch. I predict a few user names on here will change

Probably should wait but what the hell. Not sure about the Power Rankings concept so you can call these Biff rankings. Would have been quite different had I done them before the weekend Ravens Saints Seahawks 49ers Pats Packers Vikings Chiefs Bills Cowboys Titans Texans
  15. 7. I thought we had more coaches, less top-half finishes and Geelong kicked about 999 points. The veil of negativity weighs heavy

  19. At about 4.10 in Goodwin's speech "............we need to come up with a forward structure that enables it to thrive..........." Praise the Lord. Our forward structure has been diabolical. Basically talls get yourselves so far up the ground you eliminate yourselves as marking targets. The mids & half forwards, flood our forward line so we have no space to work in. Yes our delivery has been terrible - there's no excusing that. But the problem has been exacerbated by a dysfunctional forward structure. An issue that's not just confined to 2019

Only saw the highlights but it sounds like it would have been both a fun & frustrating watch. There's a bit of Alex Smith about Jimmy G at the moment. Nothing wrong with that but it will be interesting to see if he can elevate himself to the top echelon of QB's. Jury is still out as despite seemingly having been around forever, he's still relatively inexperienced. Haven't been carried away with the 8-0 start. There's been a bit of "dancing with your sister" about the '49ers so far. The Seahawks were just the start. The real season starts against your mob. That game has been moved to SNF. Anyway, Bills, Pats & Chiefs this week

Not having his go-to guy would have made a difference. George Kittle is becoming to Jimmy G what Gronk was to Brady
  22. I haven't moved from Young & Kemp but note there is a lot of noise around Jackson & Pickett. Just on Jackson, I see a giant sized midfielder rather than an out & out ruck. If that's what the club thinks we need then so be it but I'm skeptical. I've seen nor read nothing in his short exposed history that indicates he would readily become a forward. And that kicking is a concern. On Pickett, yeah he looks to have some nice tricks but his best output has been at SANFL Reserves level. Reserves ! There are suburban comps in Melbourne who's top divisions are a better standard than SANFL reserves. Would have liked to have seen more in the SANFL firsts or the nat champs. Again, skeptical
  23. I get that. For me it was always about the horses. Love the bloody things. Betting, even racing was an extension of that. Still is. Back when I was a punter I resisted the temptation to get a phone account. I figured if I really wanted to back something I'd get off my arze and head to the tote. If I couldn't do that I shouldn't be betting on it. The worst year I had was when I was working in a building with a TAB on the ground floor. Pretty much bet every lunchtime. Betting from boredom. So I figured I knew what would happen if I got a phone account. As I told Macca, I haven't bet in years but that's more a CBF thing. I've got no objection to anyone punting. Started betting with my old man when I was 7 years old. But if I got me an online betting account, I know I'd be betting without conviction again. You gotta do the form & bet according to your analysis. You're backing yourself as much as the horses. I watch my daughter's mates, beer in one hand, phones in the other betting on dumb stuff like next goal kicker in a footy game. Come quarter time they've blown forty bucks just by clicking a button. I shake me head. That's not punting, it's donating
  24. I doubt anyone is assessing Hannan on 2019, He barely played. But in the two years previous he did go missing for large chunks of games. That's one of his challenges in 2020 - to be involved in games for longer & to contribute even when he's not getting the pill.
