  1. Old mate K-Dog was on this back in August. Has a 4 post, 1 issue contribution to Demonland. Reckon I'll watch any future contributions with interest
  2. I'm surprised his name alone doesn't give you the horrors old dee. Your series of Jamie Bennell posts were classics !
  3. McCartin aims for 2021 return Good luck young fella
  4. Probably haven't had a bet for 10 years Macca. Only do the form on odd occasions e.g. one of my daughters went to Derby Day a couple of years ago. If she'd followed instructions properly she'd have had a big day but she failed to make the distinction between straight out and each way. I think I got 4 up for the day so she came home with a decent profit & the basis of a thumping hangover. Still love my horses though & still follow them. Can happily watch horse racing from anywhere & enjoy it. Channel 78 gets a decent run at my joint. Used to love a punt and had shares in a few horses back in the pre-kids days. After that my disposable income was disposed of before I got it !
  5. Sunday Silence is the one you’re thinking of Macca. Won 2 legs of the ’89 Triple Crown before going down narrowly to Easy Goer in the Belmont. YouTube it – it’s one of the great home straight duels, reminiscent of Bonecrusher v Our Waverley Star. He sired some absolute crackers in Japan including Deep Impact, Manhattan Café, Zenno Rob Roy & Heart’s Cry to name a few. Heart’s Cry sired Saturday’s Cox Plate winner Lys Gracieux and the ill-dated Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti. As a sire of sires Sunday Silence has had a profound influence on Japanese racing. I think it was Arrowfield who sent mares to him in Japan a while back. Sunday Joy was the result of one mating. She went on win an AJC Oaks. Can’t recall what became of the others. The Japanese are mad for Arc winners. I think winning that is their Holy Grail. Tony Bin, Helissio, Workforce & Carnegie are a few of the Arc winners they’ve imported to stand at stud. Their “Triple Crown” races go from 2000 metres to 2400 metres with the third leg at 3000 metres and they breed accordingly. We on the other hand have an industry which has spent the last 50 years trying to win a Golden Slipper. We’ve managed to produce the odd champion middle distance horse – Winx, So You Think etc but when you see veterans like Hartnell (imported) and Black Heart Bart still competitive on our WFA races, it’s a damning indictment on the depth of our ranks above 1200 metres
  6. Tasmanian Mick Reynolds (#46) occupied the back pocket for a while, Great hands, bung knees Tony "Spud" Dullard was another back pocket, minding the resting ruckman. Also had great hands. I think it was Bobby Skilton who said he'd have made a fantastic centre-half forward but they couldn't coax him out of first gear on the training track. Went on to play as a ruck for Williamstown. Bug unit. An old mate of mine played against him and said it was like spending an afternoon repeatedly hurling yourself into a brick wall.
  7. If your post is correct then 204 goals is a fair effort from the back pocket
  8. Read @Redleg's post. #280 in this thread. FWIW I've read other sources who support what RL outlines. If his post is correct then yes, I would roll the dice & give him a 2 year contract
  9. Your hand-wringing over Frost has me stumped Rono. For years you have (rightly) been preaching the value of multi dimensional talls. Frost is as one dimensional is it gets

    Packers, Eagles, Seahawks. Tough round
  11. I thought he was the best of our experiments as a non key forward. I'd like to see it continue and have him specifically trained & coached in that role over the pre-season. We may have only scratched the surface of what he has to offer there
  12. Turn it up. You get around on a scooter. Unless it's a race down a steep hill, I'm backing Henderson Hope your brakes are in good nick !
  13. Harley Bennell for sure. Get him. Risk & reward option. Safe option, if the Cats don't re-sign him would be Lachie Henderson. Gives us key position coverage at both ends
  14. Genuine LOL

  16. Sounds good to me Lucas. Can you put up your highlights tape so we can get an early start on hanging [censored] on you ?
  17. I believe that was offered & knocked back yesterday
  18. Doubt that's a concern. At this stage of their respective careers, Tomlinson has Martin well covered. At 25 he is still "a kid with potential". Looks great at times but what has he really delivered ?
  19. According to the contracts post by Lucifer's Hero, Harmes. Petracca & Viney are the only big ticket items we have to tick next year. Still reckon Martin gets to Carlton. They can horse trade some picks to satisfy GCS who will promptly delist him. If he wants north of $700K a year, Carlton are welcome to him. Let him chew up their cap. Because if most of their high draft picks & young "stars" progress, the old Bluebaggers are headed for a cap crunch of GWS proportions. Can't keep 'em on minimum chips forever !
  20. I think we'll take 3 & 8 to the draft. GWS don't have the currency for a deal that's enticing enough without offering a player. That ship has sailed. Would expect Sydney to bid on Green with 5. Give him a couple of years apprenticed to Joey Kennedy before replacing him
  21. Not sure that Tim Kelly = peanuts
