  1. "Mushy" was a 193cm ruckman who gave his all for the club every time he played. With his bushy beard he became a favourite of the Dees' fans.
  2. Wow, he is still growing. He may get to 200cms by the weekend.
  3. Give the man a cigar. I agree totally. The resurrection of the MFC will begin with its re entry to the MCC fold. They will help us in every department except on the field on match day. Finances, sponsorship, training rooms, administration offices, facilities, occasional training sessions on the G, respect ,membership and marketing, etc, etc, etc. MFC/MCC do it and do it soon.
  4. You may not be aware that we offered him for trade this year and last and no one was prepared to give us anything for him. As mildly disappointed as I am I understand him grabbing more money at a club that appears to want him at this moment. Luckily as well this club has no salary cap and he will no doubt earn a lot more away from football in their environment department, working under the club Captain.
  5. I don't think the fact that a player has been rejected by a club makes him an automatic dud. We all can list many examples of success at a second or third club. Guerra at his third played in a premiership, Pike at his third played in three more just for examples. Only Martin in the list you have above has Dawson's size and he may end up in the ruck given our shortage of ruckmen. I am not saying we "should" draft Dawson, but rather that we should look at him closely to decide if we should and as I said I am sure the footy department will do just that. In the end he may be a dud or he may be another Brett Lovett, who knows, but if we got him and he held down full back other players could be used elsewhere, that is all I am saying. PS. As we are now close to delisting Carroll, Dawson could be taken as our new last pick in the draft and he will probably be better than anyone we get that far down the order and he is ready to go.
  6. Anytime we beat the Blues its a good day. Well done to Rollo for organizing, WJ and all of the boys and our female player Jo, who joined us in the last quarter. Really enjoyed the singing of the club song, I hope the Dees get to do it a bit more next year.
  7. That's even better.
  8. Fair enough. I can't comment on his strength because obviously I don't know his level. I would assume though that putting on 13k's would have to involve an increase in strength to a degree.
  9. Read my first sentence.
  10. Sorry to throw in another name from the paper, but there was an article on this bloke in the sunday paper and he has put on 13k's and looks a strapping lad. He is a full back with experience and is only 22 and 195-6 cms. Would rather him than Carroll on the list. Very disappointed at being delisted he is desperate for another chance and was apparently in good form all year for Box Hill but couldn't crack the Hawks team. If he was picked up by us and filled full back we could release Garland and/or Martin to other areas which would be of help. Worth considering, as I am sure our footy department will do.
  11. Bit strong. I know you are emotional over this.
  12. Pay it out with what? We obviously haven't got the money to pay a young player we wanted to keep.
  13. Sounds like Morton.
  14. Sorry sport, 3 with 2 to run. Take it as gospel.
  15. What is Demetriou's official position with Visy? How much more can Carlton be given?
  16. Are you suggesting that no one should post on any topic or post he provides?
  17. Hey steady on there.
  18. Good post Demonland.
  19. Its not really a matter of anyone "sticking it up anyone" as we all know. Cameron Schwab will need more than 24 days and the Board like wise will need more than a few months to turn around the MFC from being $5m in debt and holding the wooden spoon. Commercially we would all agree the draw is a horror. Football wise it is OK. We are the bottom side and have been treated accordingly. As we improve we will have grounds for demanding better. As someone else posted, why give a friday night game to a team who doesn't score in the first half of a friday night game and has no supporters attending. We must attend games, raise membership again and hope the on field performance improves.
  20. I am tired.
  21. Correct. If another club wishes to play him a deal would be worked out as to how much we pay him and how much they pay him. As for training it would be fair to assume that the AFL would have to cover any injury he might sustain. Therefore we are letting him try out with another club, rather than face a Court hearing over whether he breached his contract to such a degree as to allow its repudiation by us. My guess is that if Carroll is required by another club, they will agree on his remuneration and he will then do a deal with us for some part of the balance, assuming that his existing MFC contract would be higher.
  22. If another club wants him he will go in the National Draft and will not be there for the PSD. The only way we could get him in the PSD is if we really wanted him and he wanted to come to us and he didn't nominate for the National Draft.
  23. Seems like quite a few of the Bomber fans are angry he has been delisted. 185cm inside midfielder. Touted as tough and talented. I would have a good look at him. They took one off us a few years ago and he played a lot of games ( Peverill).
  24. Watch them say it.
  25. The suggestion is that if you are a young man on $400K a year and your only talent is kicking a footy, you might not be bothered travelling an extra 10-15 minutes to get to your workplace ( the footy oval).
