  1. Bate was also limping during the game and the skipper is clearly on one leg. I also noticed Bate showing an unacceptable attack on the ball for an AFL player several times tonight. I am sure this didn't go unnoticed in the Coaches box either. He would be dropped if I was coach but severe injuries to team mates may save him. I would drop him anyway as he must learn what is expected of an AFL player if he wishes to improve. I would then make him watch videos of Brown and Bell attacking the ball, though maybe in Bell's case not the third quarter tonight.
  2. Having just watched the 7 news which showed the hit from two angles and replaying it several times, I agree. Bell's head was over the ball and Johnson changed direction and came in to lay a bump to the head. It was clearly deliberate and extremely dangerous. He could have pulled up or run to the side of Bell but chose to lay the bump seeing the players head down. As brave as Bell was Johnson was cowardly in my opinion. If it was Byron it would be 8 weeks. The minimum will have to be 4. Cant wait to hear Eddie say it was an accident and that in fact it was Bell's fault.
  3. Tonight was fantastic. Pure guts.
  4. I think Grant Thomas is right on this one, many Coaches are picked before the process even starts. The process is then window dressing for the membership to show that an extensive search was undertaken.
  5. Thanks for the teams Barry. I will have to try and get along to see the boys this week, don't eat all the sausage rolls.
  6. I think Warnock would be in trouble and Miller and Jamar are tradeable. Byron will stay if attitude right, on a one year contract under a new coach. Godfrey gone. Agree with the rest.
  7. Electrifying pace off the mark, can kick a long goal, good disposal, reads the play well, high clearance rate at stoppages, can take a mark and can be a matchwinner. Why would you want him?
  8. We have plenty of players who are either past it or have poor skills who will be delisted at the end of the season. CJ falls into neither category and should be given another season to try and cement a place in the side. He also is 190cms and is not slow either. Unless he is traded for a good player or decent pick, I don't want him to be the 5th Demon playing in another teams premiership following Pike, Bishop, Jolly and Armstrong.
  9. The next four games will do nothing for confidence next year. If you wanted to win you would play our best side. I would rather play the younger players and give them game time and maybe a couple of better players from the draft to join them next year. That would be worth more than a win which means absolutely nothing, like beating beating a tanking Carlton in the last round for example.
  10. Hayes and Neaves must be retained. Hughes i am not sure will make it and I don't think Warnock is at AFL standard and i would look to trade or delist him. Neville will be delisted. I would play all of the young guys in the last couple of games to give them experience. Winning is now irrelevant.
  11. I have got into this peach chutney lately and its great on the sandwiches. Back to the topic, this could all be for the last game. Uplift all rookies Bode, Neaves, Hayes and the injured Bode and play them with Weetra in the last game against Carlton. Sheedy could then coach Cochin next year in the red and blue, not to mention the player we get in the trade for our 2nd round priority pick.
  12. Say goodbye to any decent coach if you do this !
  13. Could it be any darker WJ ? Another interesting read as usual.
  14. Lets try and analyse the situation. Melbourne at full strength is a good side. Our list has depth as we have seen this year. Our younger players are now getting valuable game time. We will have at least one early pick in the draft this year and maybe three picks by pick eighteen. The players we will delist or trade this year are superfluous to our needs. Sheedy is 59 not 79. He appears relatively fit and alert. He has rat cunning. He is a winner. He is prepared to try different things to win. He would surely be able to coach for 3-4 years without any difficulty and who else would get a longer chance anyway. His marketability is unsurpassed. He will attract members and sponsors. His ego has been dented and he would be keen to stick it up the Bombers. He would have the pick of the best assistants who would assist with everything from conditioning to tactics etc. He could even train the best assistant to be our next coach thereby continuing the program. We would get rid of our current conditioning coach who has overseen the biggest injury list I can recall after the same thing happening at his previous club. We might even develop a kick in from points strategy that we don't have. He can communicate with all players and they seem to genuinely like him and perform. We can get rid of the bloody "premiership clock" which is a load of crap as we have seen with other teams. He can coach to win a flag while at the same time building up the list, they are not mutually exclusive. This does not mean to say that I believe he is the only one for the job but he could be our best choice.
  15. For all of those who attacked Paul Gardner over Neale's resignation, I am sure you will get stuck into the Essendon board. Their chairman said on MONDAY NIGHT, "we will not make any decision on the coach until the end of the season and we didn't even discuss it at the board meeting tonight." Oh yeah!!!.
  16. One thing Barassi had in common with Pagan, they both took over pathetic teams and then recruited poorly. Remember Cattogio and Young for Greg Wells and the over the hill Kelvin Templeton as examples.
  17. I see that Bode made the best players for Sandy this week. Maybe that is a watershed moment for his career.
  18. Have to agree Jaded. The only way for our club to move forward is to say goodbye to those that let you down are too old or can't dispose. My list Brown, Ward, Bizzell, Jamar, Pickett, Neville, Holland, Warnock and maybe Yze.
  19. He might. I would suggest a troublemaker is a player who has a history of causing trouble at his former club. If you would like some examples : Angwin, Norman, Fevola, Didak, Cousins, Farmer, Kerr, Lawrence, Everitt, Gehrig, Carey etc.
  20. Agree. I thought his handball in close was great for a first gamer.
  21. It is no surprise that Fremantle is struggling this year after adding a couple of troublemakers from other clubs. After last year they looked a real chance this season. I hope our club avoids the temptation to trade or draft any troublemakers. It is like bringing a virus into the rooms.
  22. I hope you are not serious with that comment. I think it needs a moment's reflection.
