He was our club Doctor for a few years and is one of the highest credentialled and most experienced Sports Docs around. A great get.

And a far bigger NO from me.
  3. Only based on video highlights and reading what others, including the so called young talent experts have said, that would be the ideal result for me.
  4. The delisting of these 2 boys seems to suggest we will take 1-2 DFA's and 4-5 in the drafts.
  5. But it would probably mean missing the 2 boys many of us want in Young and Kemp. Memories of the Kelly deal start flooding back.

I heard a whisper that SOS is leaving the Blue scum. Anyone else heard anything on that topic?
  7. Hope the boys get a chance elsewhere. Thanks for your contribution and good luck in the future.
  8. Good questions. Do we still have rights over the players we have developed? Next, what compensation do we get for losing the zone? Wonder if we could tell Jack Martin that we want to bring in several indigenous boys and that he and Nev would be great mentors for them.

No Jack, it will go on forever. You can close all the other threads you don't like, not this one.

So quiet around here now. All I hear about is will we go for Martin, who will be our 3rd tall and will Jobe get his Brownlow back. Very boring on DL.
  11. Though he is a beautiful mark I wouldn't class him as a tall. He is smaller than Hannan and we wouldn't call him a tall. He is marginally taller than Jake and Tracc and they are not talls. IMO we still need another key tall 193 cms plus. PS. I hope Fritter is a permanent forward from now on, as with Tom and Weid playing ok, he is a 40 goal forward.

Interestingly he was happy to go to the Bombers in 2018, so he has had interest in other clubs.
  13. And not playing in the position he played, when he was drafted.
  14. This boy could become a very good AFL player.
  15. 2016–2019 Geelong 9 games 6 goals Hardly encouraging stats. Even with Ratagalea out he couldn't get games. There has to better in the state leagues.
  16. I think we will. Murray has been mentioned and they are probably assessing others.

    makes sense.

Not sure. I suppose they would bring in an arbitrator to do what they want. They make the rules and we know how they can bend them.

This doesn't sound right, but knowing the AFL it could be, I heard today that the AFL has told GC, they will give them a compo pick for Martin next year, after their first round pick, if they take him in the PSD and lose him the next year as FA. That means GC take him in the PSD, give him a 1 year contract and then if the blue scum take him as a FA next year they will get a top compo pick. The scum could still get him for nothing but at least GC won't be screwed.

That would be a great result, if we can't convince him to come to us on a reasonable deal.

Stop talking sense. I have hated one club all my life and that is the blue scum. I don't hate the players, just the club and its supporters. Listening to them again this morning and their arrogance, just heightens my dislike of them. They are rejoicing in the fact that they are going to screw the bottom club out of a number 1 pick player and get him for free. Their unbridled joy is sickening in the extreme. Personally, I would be prepared to take him and let him stand out of footy for 2 years, if he wouldn't come to the party, just to stuff them up. However, you are talking sense. We would have to overpay a player who has not earned it and it could upset our culture, salary structure and our players and for that reason only, if we can't convince him to come to us for a fair deal, let him go and so be it. I hope another good player would then pop up that GC don't want ,or can't take and we get him instead. I then continue to hope that the blue scum fail for many years to come. Go Dees.

I can see it already. We pass on him and Blues grab him. He kicks the winning goal against us, putting us out of the 8 by one game and missing finals. Don't say MFCSS is dead.

If we are talking a shortage of cap space, what was the rush in re signing 30, 40 and 42? Were they being chased by other clubs and are they in our best 22, no, so why the hurry? I would estimate those combined salaries at least at $600-750 k this year. We also had room for Elliott so clearly we have more space. I can't believe it is a salary issue, it will be Martin's preference being the issue. So do we convince him or his Manager that his future is with us and if unsuccessful, take him anyway and try and make him happy then?

I get your point, but as clubs say, we have to back ourselves to make him happy. We have to create an environment that he is happy. Carlton have shown themselves to be ruthless, both in what they are doing with Martin and what they did in taking Nick Stevens in the same circumstances. I am not sure that you succeed in this world by being the nice guys. The Bombers kept Daniher against his wishes. The Swans did the same with Papley. Silvagni had the chance to do a fair deal and didn't, presumably to steal the player from the basket case, bottom club, that has just received AFL help. I am not sure the AFL would be happy if this is done to the Suns, especially by a side that has about 5 number one picks on their list already. I think the AFL would be happier if we took him, so a bad precedent is not set. Some on here want us to grow balls, now might be the time.
