  1. Don’t worry Neil, you still have my brilliant and wonderfully insightful posts to read.
  2. It would be very hard to argue against this view.
  3. We did and it failed, as Max was poor forward and BG was worse. The only thing you can criticise us fairly for in the BG saga, is not getting more from the Swans, who wanted him as their number 1, when we wanted him as our number 2, or number 1 with Max forward and also not picking him instead of Schache in that final. Would I love BG now, yes, but he wouldn't have stayed, unless Max retired.
  4. The trading aspect of the deal was surprising, as they wanted him as their number 1 ruckman. It was a disappointing return for us on that basis, as I don’t think we even used the pick we received. Please correct me if I am wrong. JJ as a FA went for nothing. Very disappointing all around. Armed an opponent with 2 regular best 22 players for little return.
  5. Fair enough. My vision is as you said, from the wing or on TV.
  6. I am unsure if Stafford is to blame for our forward woes. Poor delivery from upfield is not his area. I have seen our forwards make space and be totally ignored, or a mis kick pass cruel them. Long bombs into the forward line are again not his area I would think. Do we blame Stafford for dropped marks, poor goal kicking maybe. There is more wrong with us than the forward coach.
  7. It was a full pace hip and shoulder to Snake Simmonds’ head, as he was bending down to get the ball. Could have killed him. Today it would have been 12 games minimum. It diminished Long as a player in my eyes.
  8. Richardson said the opposite. Said the Coaches wanted a bit of a statement and Leaders said no. Max our Captain is not an aggressive type and Tracc isn’t either, actually shaking Maynard’s hand and patting his head before the game. Viney may have not got the chance and has a shoulder injury, so maybe wise not to further hurt that. For the rest, they didn’t bother. I am sure Gus and his family would have been impressed, not! The difference in attitude between the sides is apparent, when you look at how they gang tackled Langdon for a lighthearted comment and then the quotes of Maynard that he was surprised he didn’t get any treatment. I don’t think anyone even tackled Maynard during the game. He certainly bumped a few of ours. It appears our game attitude has taken a big hit.
  9. Epic is a bit strong, given he wasn’t high picks lost by us. Maybe just a fail if he doesn’t make it with us. That is a common result with cheap pick ups.
  10. Like there was with Curnow. He went after Weid, as did McKay.
  11. I was trying to think of an argument against your post, but I can’t as I agree with it. Playing some young blokes might create some enthusiasm and that could generate a better feeling among the group. I just wonder if Goody set them free, if the team would play better. The fact that they don’t know instinctively what to do, makes them take that split second to decide and that is where the pressure kills their possession and their disposal, leading to turnovers and opposition scores. The bombing into the forward line just adds to the turnovers and further opposition scores. The lack of spirit is also evident. We look a shadow of the team of the last three years.
  12. I think Darling is 191 cms.
  13. That is not a stupid idea. You can go for a mark without using the knee, as basketballers do when jumping for the ball. It is something that should be looked at.
  14. Demonland, the Kozzie goal review was deemed touched after the kick, it didn’t touch the post.. We have now had 3 of these reversals the most of any team, while most have never had one. That is typical if new rules which always seem to affect us adversely. Yes MFCSS is alive and well. 8 of the Pies’ 14 goals were kicked by 3 players brought back into the side, including Krueger with 3 who had never kicked an AFL goal before. That is just so typical once again. Against the team who ended Gus’s career, we lost another star player probably for the rest of the season, all the while it was the Pies who showed aggression while we showed none. Bombing into the forward line continued to little effect while the Pies sought and got the simple pass or kicked to advantage of a team mate. The disposal couldn’t have been more diametrically opposed. A pressure rating of 164, a season low. Somebody needs to explain how that results after the worst defeat in 8 years and playing a weakened opponent, that put us out of a possible premiership last year, let alone the Gus issue. One team played as a team and won, the loser didn’t. We have serious work to do.
  15. Play the kids and see if some enthusiasm can bring a few wins, or likely the season is done.
  16. I am already cleaning up the mess. i would not play him or Hunter again and start trying out the kids, Kolt, AMW, Sestan, maybe Jefferson later in the season and Woey not as sub.
  17. Not on past results it won’t.
  18. For a start, he would only play on those best Defenders if he was our best key forward. He is a long way off that. On the other hand I think you could be reasonably confident he would get more than 2 possies if he was given an AFL game.
  19. Well they seem to have plenty of PWA’s.
  20. Don’t know, but they seem to get a lot of good players they chase and have an endless farm supply.
  21. He may not if chasing immediate success. Is he a farmer or like farms?
  22. Not really. Have met him and think he is basically a nice guy, but as a Pies fanatic, he doesn’t appreciate that others aren’t and don’t want the Pies rammed down their throats on every conceivable occasion he has a microphone.
