Farewell Luke Jackson
Getting back to the LJ possible deal, couldn’t Freo clear Logue, who is rumoured to be unhappy, to WC plus their first pick say 14, for WC pick 2. They then get Doggies first pick, say 11, for Lobb, with maybe a later pick back to Dogs. Freo then give us 2, 11 and say key forward Treacy, a Vic Country boy who is not getting a game with them atm, but is only 19, 195 cms, good hands, long kick and hard at the ball. Could be ok for us. With 2 we get Cadman. We then have 11 to use, Cadman, JVR and Treacy, all young key forwards, with current guys BBB and Tom Mac for another year as well. Get Grundy and we have solved ruck and key forwards issues for years. Could trade 11 for another player, or use it in the draft. That could be a sensational off season, while losing a potential great player, also getting in several other players to solve list balance problems. Thoughts?

When you become a good side, there are often players who can’t get in the 22, that would make the 22 of other sides and they would be frustrated by that. It is perfectly understandable that these players will look for better opportunities. Players like Tommo, Toby and Kade are in this category and it is not easy to retain them all.

Has looked ok. Would be a very good rookie pick. Can play both ends in key position. Hope no one else snaffles him.

Turner. J.Smith apparently. At a pinch Tom Mac. Maybe even Weid.

That may be even beyond the Scott brothers.

The thing that is interesting to me, is our interest in Grundy. If LJ stays, I am sure we wouldn’t consider him. We are not the sort of club to mislead a player and that makes me think we have done an in principle deal with Freo, or are close to doing one. IMO if we had any hope we could keep LJ, we wouldn’t be talking to Grundy. We may have already made a commitment to Grundy and he to us and if so that would have to mean we have given up on keeping LJ. That is my reading of the tea 🫖 leaves at this point. Then again.

There are a lot of strategically placed rules in the AFL, like the rule that makes the Dees play at Cats ground 29 times in last 30 years while Blues, Bombers, Pies and Tigers never see the place. Another rule is the one that allows Cats to play bottom 2 sides twice and hardly play any top sides twice.

Think you just started another 185 pages on DL.

13,15 and 20 for Cameron and two future 2nd round picks. That was 3 first rounders to Giants. Cameron was 28 at the start of 2021.

Don’t forget your Bell too.

We shouldn’t and won’t, if Grundy says it’s Dees or I stay. Grundy staying, plus likely De Goey too, probably stuffs up their whole trading scenarios. They are even into Billy Frampton, so it suggests they have factored on Grundy gone.

Yes but WC do, so maybe it’s LJ that will have to be a little disappointed, to get back home, but not necessarily to the club of his choice. We don’t have to do any deal and I don’t think clearing our most exciting young player for unders is really on our radar. I would be confident we know who and what we want we want at this stage and unless Luke and WC are prepared to shaft us in the PSD, we should not buckle. This bloke has been described as a generational player and he is now a premiership player as well and he could be a 12-13 year player for the Dockers. We can’t allow him to go for unders.

I think we will push very hard.

Remember this the club that demanded and got pick 2 for Lachie Weller and pick 5 plus another pick for Cerra. What does that make LJ worth, as a 20 year old ruckman, rising star and premiership player?

Goldy will stay with Clarko and Ryder is a continually injured, retired 35 year old.

Farewell Sam Weideman
Like Joel Smith on the list 9 years for 26 games?

So you would disagree with bringing in another good ruckman, if LJ leaves, as a waste of investment, even though it could allow Max to play longer and be fresher for finals?

OD was not comparing him to LJ nor was I. I said he might be ok as a THIRD ruckman, if we got another and LJ left. Didn’t Weid ruck for us this year when Max and LJ were out and we won? No one is suggesting Weid as anything other than a third ruckman/forward if the need arises.

Ronald Dale Barassi - still going strong and following the Demons
Wow. 86 and looks great. I hope he presents the cup to Max and Goody on GF day.

Weid has played a few good games for Casey rucking/forward. He played a similar style to LJ, following up and distributing with a handball. Maybe he can be the third ruckman, if we lose LJ but get another.

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
I think it’s hyperbole to say “ everyone played well”. Baker, Laurie and Rosman and I think Howes didn’t touch it in the first half. Howes will be good for us though next year but I am not confident of the first three with Rosman the one I would keep of the three. Laurie I know they will keep. Deakyn Smith was just ok. Woey didn’t have a great game but he has showed enough this year. Agree Dunstan and Weid were fantastic. JVR is going to be an exciting player for us and I wish Mitch Brown was 22.

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
First half, Baker, Rosman, Howes and Laurie MIA. Woewy and Smith poor disposal today. Dunstan plenty of possies but with most up in the air going nowhere. Havent noticed Turner and Tomlinson making mistakes. Chandler no influence. But we are leading. Hopefully above players all lift. Brown and Tom doing well up forward. Weid actually doing well in the ruck and around the ground against 4 giants, Sinclair, Ladhams, McNamara and Amartey
