WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
Developing nicely.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I think that for LJ to go to WC and let them use the PSD this year, would be really low, sticking it to a club that invested highly in him and that led to his playing in a Premiership. He would be hurting us and his team mates. It would be like that no name number 1 pick who went to the Giants. I don't see LJ doing that to us. Aside from the PSD, where they would get him for nothing, I can't see them trading the first or second pick for him, as they will need more high end talent and may rather split the pick. Surely if he was absolutely determined to go home, he would have told us last year and we could have traded for Cerra. That being said, I see LJ signing a short term contract with us, if he doesn't want to commit long term and thereby giving himself time to think about his future, after a couple more years.

Wasn't homesick?

Farewell Luke Jackson
Agree heβs not a dominant ruckman of the competition, if that means being in the best couple, but he was a big part of Tigers flags, a big part and every Tiger player or fan would agree.

Agree. If you are wrestling with a decision to leave your teammates and the club that invested a top pick on you only a few years ago,, who you won a flag with and go home, but to a club that could be ordinary for a while, that would play on your mind and probably/possibly affect your form.

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
Agree and Weid gave Bedford the chance.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Donβt be afraid, everyone has the right to their opinion. See recent post of SWYL about umpire in middle of ground paying the free and he actually told nearest umpire when asked donβt pay 50 as he knew Warner wouldnβt have heard the whistle.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Good point. Players were on the boundary near the crowd and siren goes.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Yes I agree not giving it back quickly can be a 50, as the rule says delay is a ground, but how does that come into play with one second left and umpires signal end of play? All that can possibly be left is the free kick. He canβt pass it or play on as he didnβt even have the ball and if he did itβs a dead ball. Game had been signalled over by the umpires. That is the import thing here, they didnβt signal time on, they signalled game over. Umpires decided therefore no delay, no impeding play and no unsportsmanlike play.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Sue all the things you pointed I donβt disagree with during the game, but there was no time to do any of them, as the game ended 1 second after the free. Do you disagree that umpires routinely donβt give a 50 to someone ignoring the free, if they feel they didnβt know a free was called? That happened here as well.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Yes we are. There is no delay in this case, with the free paid one second before the siren and the water moire signalling game end. Before the ball can be even handed to Prestia the game was over. All that is left is for him to take his kick. The game was over before the Swan picked it up let alone kicked it and all that remained was Prestiaβs kick. So no delay, impeding or unsportsmanlike conduct. Umpires often donβt pay 50, if they think the player playing on was unaware of the free. It happens regularly. Correct decision.

Jake Melksham 200 Games
Well done Jake, 200 AFL games is always a great achievement.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Sorry Sue, but when the game is over and you have a free kick, the umpire comes over and warns of deviating off the mark and most players go back to defend. That is not delay.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Exactly.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Yes but the umpire didnβt hear it. That was the whole point. The siren blew for about a minute until the umpire put up his arms to acknowledge it. Go back and you will hear the commentators mentioning the siren but umpires oblivious. If umpire had heard siren, game would have stopped and Stynes probably doesnβt even chase his man. I donβt believe Howlett would have paid a 50m if he had heard the siren.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
As I said in my post above, under the rule it wasnβt a 50m, unless unsportsmanlike manner, as didnβt impede or delay play. The game ended and Prestia was entitled to his free kick, awarded a second before the siren. Clearly 10 seconds earlier and itβs a 50m penalty. He gets his kick and thatβs it. It was not unsportsmanlike as Warner didnβt hear the free and only did it because he thought the game was over. Correct decision, but the hysteria will go on for a while. Btw Swans had 2 shots 20 out taken off them for undisciplined acts and Tigers got a couple of soft free kick goals. As Dimma said, they were 40 points up and it shouldnβt have got to that last second. IMO the decision was correct, simply to see Reiwoldt going beserk. Might be a nice guy, but boy is he dislikeable on the field.

NON-MFC: Round 11, 2022
Well actually no. The 50 is given for time wasting, running off the mark, dissent or a further infringement against the team with the free kick. None of those existed. There is no time wasting, as the siren went and he gets his kick no matter. If it happened in the game yes of course, but no time was wasted. As the umpire said it was a commonsense decision. Also, to get the look on Reiwoldt's face it was absolutely the correct decision.

TEAMS: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
You may have something there with Weid named as an emergency. Tomlinson is very unlucky, as he has been in great form with Casey. I wonder if he could be tried forward if the opportunity arises.

Taylor Walker
Ar you sure it's not the sheep?

Wont be the Lions with their 3 tall forwards. Don't think Blues either with their 3 tall forwards. Can't see it being us, with LJ and Gus to re-contract and Weid and JVR outside the best 22 atm. I think the Dogs, Swans, Dockers and Cats, if Hawkins has indicated he is retiring, are the main chances, if it is indeed true. If i was picking one, I would say the Dogs have the biggest need.

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2022
I am not sure of the salary cost, which may impact LJ/Gus deals, but if they didn't, I wonder why we wouldn't fill a need now. We need a developing ruckman, who might not be available in the next draft at our pick. There is obviously a good reason if we don't participate and given our recent drafting/trading, it would be very difficult to criticize such a decision. The next AFL draft may really be a few needs selections, rather than best available, given our list atm.
