Agree. There was no one else available to us, except maybe the untried Wade Derksen, who the Giants refused to discuss. Jeffo, Kentfield and imo Verrall, are others who may make it and I am bullish on Jeffo and Verrall, but just don't know enough about Kentfield, who from all reports should improve dramatically ( hopefully ) after a full pre season with us and having settled in Melbourne.

So you are having a bit each way on Jeffo, not sold on him, but also not writing him off entirely. So you will be correct whatever happens with him. That is fine and it is also fine for Picket to have his opinion on players. I won't defend him because he is a big boy and can do that himself, if needed. I recall plenty on DL wanting McVee and JJ delisted, when they hadn't played a game and those same people are probably fans of both now. We all have favourites and some make it and others don't, but I don't know what you mean about the other strange choices you suggest he has hitched his wagon to, which players were they? I personally would have liked to get Kennedy, a big bodied mid who can also score when forward, but obviously our FD don't agree with me. I think with Tracc and Clarry getting over injuries, we are light on for good quick mids and if we don't take two more in the draft, who can play early, it could be a problem if injuries strike again.

Read my post again. I never said we shouldn't trade ANB. If O'Keefe is such an ordinary player, it shows what Giants thought of Wade, as O;'Keefe played games and Wade didn't. I didn't compare Wade with Hogan. I said that there were probably 11 players who play his role/position, that he is clearly behind and on that basis, having been there 2 years as a mature aged player, without playing a single game and having a good reason to want to leave, unlike us with ANB, they refused to assist him.
  4. That is interesting. Tigers got no one and lost 4 players including 3 of top 5 in B & F but got a lot of good draft picks. We lost one good player, picked up a younger replacement and a stop gap backup ruckman for nothing and added a top ten draft pick and Tigers are an A- and we are C+. Essendon get rid of their leading goal kicker of the last few years for pick 53 and get no one and get a C. Cats pick up best young player for 17 and lose no one and only get a B+. Anyway who cares?

I am disappointed not getting Wade, not that I know anything about him, other than his age and height and 0 games so far, but rather for the simple fact that TL and JT wanted him and I trust their judgment. If they wanted him it it was for a reason. The fact that he is probably the lowest player on the totem pole of players seeking a trade and yet couldn't get traded is baffling, when you consider he hasn't played a game in his first 2 years as a mature age recruit and is now 11th in line for the role he plays. Someone used Jeffo as a comparison but he was a high draft pick and was taken at 18 and these players are given more time to develop. Can anyone here see him playing ahead of a fit Hogan, Cadman, Taylor, Buckley, Himmelberg, Riccardi, Gruzewski, Brown, Aleer, O'Keefe and now Stringer. He asked to be traded for more opportunity and a better contract, to look after his wife and 3 kids. GWS said no. We let a Premiership player who was 3rd in the B and F go home for compassionate reasons. We are not talking about Taylor or Cadman for example. I hope his Manager remembers this and if Wade doesn't get a game next year, hopefully he gives it to McCartney.

    You are better than that.

And I agree with him. I think Jeffo can make it despite what an assistant coach said. He should be ready to go this season. PS: I can't say much about Adams, but I am a Verrall fan and think he will make it as well. We can assess at the end of 25.

Interesting that the reputed difficult traders at Giants, Dogs, Bombers and Cats are again the ones with deals still not happening.
  9. Thanks. So is that for F/S and NGA players?
  10. Is there a priority with a f/s in the rookie list?

Only 12 hours until the Oliver will leave in 2025 stories start.

It would have to come from the Manager.

    I’m not.
  15. Can we tell the PRODUCERS to stop the telecast after pick 9?
  16. Redleg replied to dazzledavey36's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Massive deal gets done and we are still negotiating for a minor player, which will probably get done. Wonder what the holdup is, as we only have one pick to give.

Maybe, but Cripps and Tracc are not speedy and they go ok. He is a big bodied mid, who can drift forward and score and who would come cheap. He also is a good culture team first guy, as evidenced in the last final, where he left his wife and baby to fly to Brisbane for the game. I would rather him than Billings or Laurie. See below, Cal Twomey on Langford. Sound like anyone? "Harvey Langford is the other one who has to be considered. I'm a big Harvey Langford fan," Twomey said. "I don't worry about him not being super quick because I think he's a finals player. He's a metres gained player and he marks well above his head. He's been good as a goalkicker this year - 20-plus goals - and he's a big guy. Walking next to him at the Combine, he's a big presence as a midfielder."

I think he could be handy for us but we are obviously not interested.

Kane is not afraid to rubbish other commentators opinions.

FWIW, a long time supporting Carlton mate with some connections to the club told me on friday that they were still trying for Tracc. Imagine if true, you get 4 of the best 9 boys in the country in one hit. That is a massive rejuvenation and improvement to a list. They would probably throw Kennedy in as well IF it had legs. Wow, that would blow the final trading day to smithereens. BUT, we know it's not happening.
  21. While now sounding unlikely we can get Wade Derksen, I think the language used suggests it is still a small possibility. There was no definite it won't happen and a lot of respect shown for the Giants in Lamb's comments and I sense a small chance, most likely if they get Jake Stringer, thereby pushing Derksen further down the ladder.

They got 12, Baker and Owies for 3 and will probably get a local boy still there at 12.

    Unless Roos take him.

Hilarious if North keep 2 or trade it and that club or North takes FOS, if that is the boy Carlton want as reported.
