I was walking the dog yesterday and Kate Hore walked past me. She is a bit taller than I thought she was.

Agree with that. He has the tools, he needs to learn how to use them in test cricket. Great debut by the older Beau as well.

That’s a bit unfair OD. The kid is a very talented, modern day player, who goes for it, not a stoic, Boycott type, who can bat all day. His start set up the win, because it threw the Indians, with about 35 runs off the first 3 overs. Then of course he throws away his wicket, but then again so did Marnus and Smith who are far more experienced. Imo he is not an opener at this stage and that is on the selectors in a way. He needs to be coached to temper his enthusiasm if he opens. Flair is fantastic but your wicket should be taken away from you, not handed over. On another note, I have never seen an innings like his first, from a debutant, let alone one opening the batting.

We were lucky he got injured.

And they are talking about $12.00 a cup of coffee by the end of the year.

Those bats can come in handy.
  10. I don’t think Fritta was ever right last year, physically or mentally. Hopefully this year he is back to his best.
  11. It is abundantly clear given the selection discussions, that our depth is better than last year and that is certainly helpful for the coming season.

I think his record for us is abysmal.

Congratulations Danielle and Gus, have a great life together.

    Take that to the bank.
  15. And then you can prove to be not up to it, even if you get the chance. The best way to know if you are AFL standard, if you are talented, is to be tried at the top level.

How can you have an admitted Pie supporter, chairing a Tribunal, in an incident that could affect his team’s finals chances? I am still furious about this.

Agree. Kozzie would have got a lifetime ban if it was him doing that action.

No BBP the 3 weeks was a Tribunal minimum if found guilty. He was referred directly to the Tribunal which was without penalty and it was then up to the Tribunal. That staring at 3 weeks was exactly that, it was a comment by the writer, that he had not been given 3 weeks or any weeks actually, but would get that as a minimum if Tribunal found him guilty. It was not an appeal, but a direct sending to the Tribunal, as it was graded serious. Hope that clarifies it.

No he wasn’t, he was sent directly to the Tribunal by Laura Kane, against the decision of former Pies player and MRO Michael Christian. The pathetic case put forward by the AFL, in front of admitted Pie supporter Tribunal Chairman Gleeson, got the desired result. As I said at the time, the AFL would outlaw that action after the season ended, which they did. PS: Most ex players and media said he deserved a suspension. Nathan Buckley and Eddie were two who disagreed, of course.
  20. You can only do that if you are playing in the AFL, as in any other competition it is only potential. The best player in the VFL could be a dud in the AFL.

Also the AFL will be in our corner on this and they happen to need a home for the umpires and that will lead to a good AFL contribution, if that part comes to be.
  22. They are interesting stats, given we have employed Choco for several years and this is not a revelation.
  23. I may be on my own here but really would like to see Roy George on our list, but the club may want Jai Culley and atm there are no spots for either of them. It may take a mid season retirement to open a spot. I am hoping no other club will/can select Roy earlier, if he doesn’t first agree to go there. Interesting to see how this pans out.
  24. Is that an AFL stat?

I still can’t see how Kozzie got weeks, for a contest, that at worst, would have been a bump to a 200cm player’s stomach, until the very last split second, when the taller player went to ground, at a time when the smaller player couldn’t pull out of the contest. I think it was a pathetic decision and when contrasted with the Maynard bump on Gus, knocking him out early in a final and the resultant lack of any penalty is just bewildering, other than the fact that the Tribunal Chairman and MRO are admitted Pies supporters. Neither of them should have officiated in either case.
