Correct. I can understand why we went from first area to second area as second was bigger and had easier access. I am unsure why we are now looking at this third area, which is narrower and longer, but closer to transport, shops and a short walk to the tunnel under the track into the mid field, where the ovals would go. All three areas are Crown land leased to the MRC. I suspect the MRC are happy for us to go in this third area and see some synergy in it. There is plenty of room for what we would need and car parking as well. Given recent comments of the MRC Chairman, it appears we are all now aligned and it is happening and hopefully announced soon, maybe even at the B and F and maybe even with the new Coach present. Maybe even the Judd McVee signing announced finally, making it a big night after a disappointing season. That is all just my speculation of course. I can imagine for starters a new type of membership being a MFC/MRC one where you become a member of both clubs giving rise to more benefits for the members, increased sponsorship opportunities and of course increased membership of both clubs. We are both called MELBOURNE of course. There may even be some new joint facilities mooted, again my speculation only. As Big Kev used to say on TV years ago, “I am excited” and not just because I am a lifelong Demon fanatic and former official of the club, have owned and bred racehorses, still racing a few, am a Life Governor of the school, that will be a neighbour on the other side of the racecourse, though I went to MELBOURNE High School, live nearby and will be able to go to a lot of training and spend time with Ghosty and her mates, but because this will be the best thing for the MFC, besides premierships, that has happened in ages and maybe ever, our own state of the art Demon home. You are correct the guineas car park is Crown land and part of MRC leasehold. Given the MRC pays about $500k rental per annum for the whole course, it would seem unlikely we would be paying the same amount to the MRC for a sublease of a tiny portion of the whole property.

I think but am not sure, that maybe the race club owns the guineas car park. If that is the case we would either need to buy or rent. From the article it sounds like the MRC are pushing this site. It is huge though. We will need to see from the announcement exactly what and where is the deal comprised of.

The new area is by far the biggest area so far suggested. I am just unsure of the tunnel they are mentioning. I know of two tunnels there, one to the inner car park for cars from Glen Eira Road and the other a pedestrian one from the inner car park to the grandstand. Not sure if there is another, but wouldn’t think that one would be suitable. Anyway it sounds like it will finally be green lit. Great for the Dees.

Well that’s thrown me. I didn’t see that area as the new training base and am not sure other than being closer to the train, why it is being considered, but it sounds as though it is now very close to being finalised in the approval stage. Hope there is some car parking for dees fans who want to attend training too, as the area is heavily used by train travellers who park their cars all day.

What makes it more ridiculous, is when the Captain himself admits he is a ridiculous choice, as he has never captained anything before. I would have thought after 8 AA’s and what he has gone through ,Max was a pretty obvious choice for his leadership, but if not him then Dawson would have been the one. They have actually denigrated that part of the AA team. But it is the AFL and they get a lot wrong.

No one goes ahead of Robbie, no matter what. Happy for Max to be next.

Maybe I am getting senile, but I don’t see that as a bad deal. 2 first round picks and 2 players who will be best 23 Blues. Curnow 29 before next season, is 2 years older than McLean and 4 years older than Campbell. Curnow can be flaky and put in poor games as we have seen. He has had injuries too.

Disagree. I think we are looking at Derksen as a defender. However I also think Jeffo won’t get more than another year to prove himself.
