If he goes home, a deal will get done; MelbourneFC moves on (albeit with plenty of salary cap space). IMO, no player in a successful team gets $1m - consider Geelong and Hawks. I'm happy if he stays; if he goes, so be it.

Team won after an interstate trip week before. - very big tick. Notwithstanding 6 day break, I expect they will give a very good account of themselves against Hawthorn next week. 3 4 observations: forward line didn't work at all, and high bombs didn't help; Hunt is a revelation; Gawn impacted game zilch, despite 60 taps; Vince had a poor game.

Don't think anyone has mentioned the backing up after the Darwin game, and what that game takes out of the team. That we lost doesn't surprise me, but I think a few changes might have freshened the team up. i think the team will give a good account of itself in the west, whatever the changes.

Especially pleased that the club got him to 100 games given how he was treated in the early days.

Can't be bothered reading all the posts..... IMO Toumpas has never looked like he belongs at AFL....despite some nice touches. He was very highly rated...drafting isn't easy, see the Hawthorn shanks above. Luke Parker was mentioned by someone who was easy to identify.....he went #40 in 2010 draft. As I said, it aint easy.

From memory, Toumpas was considered a likely pick 1 who slipped to 3. Sure that was Viney's view.

Nice to see a bit of balance. The dislike/contempt for Col here and in the media is a bit strong. Lyon heavily plays favourites; Dawson and Pearce would not get a game elsewhere. And Lyon is responsible for the Saints current position = bottom: he oversaw the worst period of drafting in AFL/VFL history. And he walks into a ready to go Freo - lets see how Freo look in 3-5 years after Lyon has bankrupted them (talent wise). Col certainly [censored] in someones nest. Sylvia isn't the last/only player to enjoy the nightlife, even if that is true.

I agree. Lyon's record is with a ready made list. If Freo don't do it in the next 2 years, they will slide as well.

Sydney are heading into salary cap problems me thinks, with 2 x $1M+ players plus Mitchell for example on $500k (seems ludicrous). IMO 2014 was their year - I reckon they will struggle to keep players. Zac Jones might be a fall out from that. Edit: left out a crucial "M" - thanks hardtack
