  1. In the HUN - here. "The race for the disgruntled Saints' onballer took a twist yesterday with St Kilda believed to be firmly back in the running, if not the front-runner, to keep Ball. It is understood St Kilda officials and teammates who are in New York where Ball is holidaying plan to talk with the former club captain about staying at Moorabbin." As you said, the MFC in PSD, the saints or a lottery. And he doesn't want the MFC! Reckon they'll kiss and make up.
  2. Good post. I agree. Reckon he will stay with the saints.
  3. Depending on discussions, and what he wants to do, I would have him in a heart beat. A skilled power forward/back would make Miller 2nd forward with less attention etc. And he could show our new forwards how to go about it. May well be a better get than ball. BUT, IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHETHER THEY WANT TO COME TO THE CLUB! And remember, we are still $500K short of the SC minimum.
  4. Try this: Out of the blue, he is offered up as trade meat; a 2 time premiership player He gets offered a bag of $s Deal falls through Goes back to Lions. WTF. What are you doing? Do you know how to run a club? Answers himself: NO Decides to see who else is interested. Has been making over $300K-$400K for quite a few years: financially secure Other clubs are quite interested; maybe as a coach? Says: I will not take the treatment offered by Lions/Voss Lets see? Maybe he's just drawn a line in the sand? Someone who will not take sh*t. IMO, Voss since becoming a coach has been a pompous [censored]. Full of his own import. Maybe he has just shot himself in the foot.
  5. I'll have mine with a vinagrette.
  6. Don't know about Kennedy, but I certainly rate McGlynn. link Insane. Wish we could have got him.
  7. Jamar's one year deal is just so wierd. Could he yet be some part of a (complex) trade? (The one year gives him security of ending up somewhere.)
  8. Absolute nonsense.
  9. C'wood have a slow mid-field now; Ball will not help it (tho' I rate him).
  10. Scribes have been rating Ball as a 2nd round pick. Go figure.
  11. Swans are expecting better than c'wood's pick 14. see here.
  12. Deal will go through. Otherwise there will be legal action. The Age: "Club chief executives, Cameron Schwab and Greg Swann shook hands on it two weeks ago." Worst that can happen is we'll get pick 11 at the death, which will only matter if we want to use the pick for someone else, and don't get the chance. <_<
  13. Cats more likely to keep Mumford and ditch Blake (who I wouldn't touch with a barge pole).
  14. Could be. But Bruce isn't part of the trade.
  15. Assuming the figures in the article are accurate (a big IF), you might include me as one of those. But $2.1M for 4 years is just stupid (i've taken off the 6 figure 3rd party payment) 4 yrs is stupid - Davey has had 1 breakout year I also consider $1.7-1.8M for 4 years for Davey as rediculous. Despite what Schwab says, there are plenty of reports that the dons also made a big offer. Of course, Davey used these offers to increase the $s and the length of contract we had to offer him. He sure picked the right year to have a good one. At the end of this trading period - in say a year's time, there are going to be a few clubs very regretfull over deals they have done. Talk about a sellers market. Having said all that, I AM pleased Davey is still at the MFC
  16. Yes they will, and we will to. Very poorly treated in the overall course of events.

Didn't know about Powell situation, but plenty of average players go into PSD eg CJ. Powell was average. I'm remembering Freo, who gave us early 2nd round pick for Farmer; they could have got him in PSD as they had pick 1. I believe Farmer may have insisted on a trade, not PSD route. Depends on what Ball wants to do.
  18. Now rpfc, you, Hannibal, I and others have great concerns about this deal. And, I know, we have to pay the minimum $7.34 92.5% SC. But I simply cannot go for the 4 yrs. Davey is good, even very good, but he is not a star. He has speed, and a great left foot. But, he does not win contested ball, and to the best of my memory, has no right foot. An outside sweeper/mid getting big $s AND 4 yrs is just stupid. Couple of years, and we'll see where his speed is at. That leaves a good left foot. Bowden anyone?
  19. Unless he went in the PSD, we won't get him. Now, wouldn't that be a delemma if he did. Would we/wouldn't we?? Been years since we had a big idiot for a FF. Remember Jacko.
  20. Haha. Good one! Thought McLean handled himself really well in the interview.

Word is he's "worth" a 2nd round pick. We have the first 2nd round pick. And, I am pretty sure we wouldn't try to pick him up in PSD - just not the right thing. So, if (and that's a big IF) he wanted to come to MFC, we could screw the deal a little and get him for pick 34. I am rather confused about how the footy world is rating him, so I'm not sure if he'd be a good get or not.
  22. Hey I'm trying to. Shares, real estate whatever, it all comes under the cap. What's his manager doing for him (other than extracting maximum $s from us)? Ed: Actually, I've answered my own question. He's screwed enough money out of us over 4 years to last a lifetime.
  23. CamSchwab By the way, Essendon never made an offer to Aaron Davey. Focus was securing Aaron and his family's future beyond his playing career. What the hell does that mean? Are we puting him up in a business?
  24. 4 years is a mistake. A precedence has been set. (Hopefully the 4th year is heavily conditional. )
