  1. Took them a few days/weeks to crank up after McLean's comments. Its barely 24hrs since Watson spoke. IMO the sh7t is going to hit the fan some time soon. Very soon.
  2. Do you know this? It all revolves around the consent form. If it was signed by the club doctor, saying that all supplements were OK and permitted, then the players may be in the clear. My understanding is the players had major misgivings and insisted on a consent form that included a guarantee that the supplements were permitted. So where does this go?
  3. Probably "list manager" role will be combined with another. Also depends on what the "list manager" does at MFC? If contracts are handled by Footy Head, then there is plenty of room to combine roles.
  4. I think the deciding issue will be the consent forms the players signed. Presumably the form contained a list of possible supplements, and the guarantee of the club (doctors/CEO/???) that all supplements were legal, and allowed. This safeguards the players. By players signing the form, the club is safe guarded. It all depends on the length players are expected to go to to establish whether a drug is permitted or not. My guess is the players will be exonerated (because they have asked for and received a written guarantee that the supplements were permitted), and the club and some officials will be absolutely pulverised. (Massive fines and officials banned.)
  5. Remember the event. Also remember: while Watts was lining up, Dawes went over to Toumpas and had a longish chat with him which included a bit of pointing to different areas of the forward space. Dawes was doing a bit of 'leading' or coaching. Excellent.
  6. 2 more things that say a lot about Craig: In what was the final year (or years) of his time at Adelaide, he asked to be put on salary; meaning a few weeks notice from him or Adelaide would see him walk away - no big contract payouts. It was he who stood down at Adelaide (I remember the presser - dignified, doing what was good for the club); he wasn't sacked. Interesting bloke. Wonder what the job description as mentor to Neeld was. Ed: Points 1 & 2 highlight a difference to Wiiliams - it was Williams who held port to ransom for a huge contract after they won the premiership; crushed them financially.
  7. If there was a falling out with Kaspersky, the reaching out was under CS's watch. Footage of game 1, 2013 against port, shows a Kaspersky sign in front of Neeld in the coach's box.
  8. Seemed to me he did some good things, but an equal number of poor ones. He certainly showed some 'passion' though. Not sure I am convinced he is a natural footballer. Coming out and saying he wants to stay at MFC is a pretty big statement tho'.
  9. 6- Garland 5- McDonald 4-Spencer 3-Toumpas 2-Terlich 1-N Jones
  10. Good point. It is the easiest thing in the world to come into a new job/club/whatever, and say "its all sh9t". Now we do it my way. Time will tell (but I am positive and optimistic....even thinking of going this arvo.... )
  11. New banner looks good to me.
  12. Like a new in: Clisby. Why is Magner not in? Beggars belief.
  13. Could be interesting team selection this week with 'new' coach/'new' match committee. You would have to think that Magner would be in the frame more. (For whatever reason, he didn't get much of a run this year with Neeld.) Magner is such a competitive player, who finds the ball; defensively OK too I would have thought.
  14. This is why Neeld is delusional: (From the HUN) GOING LOW Worst percentages since World War II 1955 St Kilda 45.4% (one win) 1996 Fitzroy 49.5 (one win) 2013 Melbourne 49.8 (one win) - after 11 games 1950 Hawthorn 49.8 (zero wins) 1966 Fitzroy 53.8 (one win) 1963 Fitzroy 57.5 (one win) 1995 Fitzroy 58.2 (two wins) 1947 St Kilda 58.7 (1.5 wins) 1964 Fitzroy 59.7 (no wins) 1948 St Kilda 59.9 (two wins) *excluding first-year expansion teams DISPOSALS DIFFERENTIAL PER GAME (2013) +41.8 Essendon +39.8 Hawthorn +28.9 Collingwood +22.5 North Melbourne +19.2 Richmond +18.0 Carlton +15.0 Port Adelaide +14.5 Sydney +11.5 Geelong +10.1 Fremantle +2.9 Adelaide -1.5 Western Bulldogs -8.5 West Coast -12.4 Gold Coast -17.0 St Kilda -25.9 Brisbane -58.4 GWS -102.5 Melbourne WORST EVER Worst disposal differentials since statistics kept (1999) -103 Melbourne (2013) -62 GWS (2013) -60 Gold Coast (2011) -59 Brisbane (2003) -57 Carlton (2003) -54 GWS (2012) -52 Port Adelaide (2011) -52 Melbourne (2012) -51 Gold Coast (2012) -25 Fitzroy (1996) INDIFFERENT STATS Melbourne is ranked last in differentials in the following key statistical categories: Short kicks, effective kicks, total kicks, total handballs, total marks, uncontested marks, contested possession, uncontested possession, clearances, inside-50s, percentage of scores once inside 50
  15. What went wrong? Neeld: don't know. Would you do anything different? Neeld: no. Do you have any regrets? Neeld: no. Delusional. The wheels had fallen off, and Neeld was in denial. Delusional.
  16. Not Williams for mine. IMO he fluked a premiership with a very good list, then screwed the club for the AFL's biggest coach contract, when Port was limited financially; fundamentally sent them broke 4 years later. They are still recovering big time. Massive ego and a nutter. Not for me under any circumstances.
  17. Not sure its as simple as that.Poor list management had us paying way overs for a number of players, including Woewodin who scored a big contract after his Brownlow (no doubt courtesy of some hot-shot manager). Woewodin had a very average season, and there was a club willing to take him before he lost all currency (ironically the filth). Don't know if he had the option of a pay cut to stay - doubt it with how managers were/are? Plenty on these boards are happy to speculate about trades and values; this is/was no different. Hardly souless. Junior's final year was problematic - lot of lost injury time. His exit was handled badly, and he should have been kept on IMO, but I doubt he would have had much match day impact. Ed: missing word
  18. Roos: "Leadership is captains and leaders on the ground directing players" Agreed, Dawes has been at the club only this year, but he comes from a successful club, and takes responsibility. It was he who said: effort is a given at AFL; it does not need coaching. I have the feeling he has the presence to get this message to other players (see the Roo's quote above); not sure there are any others who can command that. And, these changes won't be made until the end of the year, if at all. Lets see how it pans out
  19. For mine: Captain - Dawes Vice Captain - Grimes Vice Captain - Trengove Vice Captain - N Jones
  20. I agree with you. Not sure they handle the demotion of Grimes and Trengove tho'.
  21. The club might have been bullish....the rest of the footy world weren't. A number of writers put us last on their list. I always wondered what the hell did they know that we didn't. And David King's prediction in April 2012 that the MFC was absolutely stuffed - I and others thought he's just a [censored] - but he was right. What the hell did he know that we didn't. Lots of unspoken stuff here. Probably be a book about it one day. (rudeboy?....just joking.)
  22. He did mention the importance of the $s the Swans received in the 90's. Said they wouldn't have survived without it.
  23. Interesting AFL.COM.AU article on Colless' view of MFC. Link A quote from it: "But they just seem to have lost everything and have had so many top-10 picks. It's just extraordinary the way they have collapsed. It almost beggars belief, to be perfectly honest." Says it all for me.
  24. Yep, I reckon he would be picked up. Size , speed, etc.....has chronic fatigue behind him and is getting used to living with diabetes. I reckon there would be a fair bit of interest.
