Will be very interesting selections this week. Spencer will play I have no doubt. As good as Watts played he was understandably spent in the last and he just has to spend majority of the time forward with Hogan out and he would be of no use against Sandilands all day. He will still give Spence a chop out when required though. UNLESS. Pedo replaces Weid which would allow Watts to stay forward however I can`t see that happening as a) Pedo seems out of favour and/or not tearing the house down and b) Watts is doing a great job as a chop out ruckman. I do feel though that The Weid experiment has not gone to plan, he just isn`t ready. Hogans suspension has kept him in and will likely do so against Freo. I doubt there would be too many other changes unless Bernies toe keeps him out.

I know tagging seems to have gone out of favour but Bernie would love to get another crack at Danger I`d reckon, and just pester him like he did against Adelaide 2 years ago until he loses the plot. Only concern is Danger has gone up a notch or 2 whilst Bernie may have dropped a notch. I`m loving the fact the we appear to have very slim chances to win this one by the experts, I think we will surprise many! The ugly win against the Blues was just the wake-up call we needed. The Cats pace might be a concern, but so was The Saints and there pace only worried us for 1 quarter. The fact that North had them on the ropes at the same venue gives me quite a bit of optimism.

Yeah he`s made the odd blue OD, maybe he is still adjusting to our gameplan and our spread is a lot slower and not as wide as what he had for the last decade! He is very slow though, might still be hope for Trengove as I reckon he`d have him covered for speed sadly!

It is the most packed I have seen the MCC for 10 years other than QB. Sounded like a fair few Bluebaggers in there too but we clearly outnumbered them around the ground

Majority are collecting scarves thus it was moving quickly, signup takes 5 minutes minimum per person but I reckon we would have had plenty signup y`day.

I was impressed with the way we won. Yes we were bog ordinary for 2.5 qtrs but we got the job done. Make no mistake though, we would have lost this game against more polished opposition. The glaring concern for me was how easy Carlton made the switch and had a string of players free by 20m or more. We simply have to get better at reading this during a match (we did in the last qtr) or we will be killed by quality teams. Funnily enough, I don`t think it is as big a problem at Etihad where there just is not as much space as the wide wings of the G. We weren`t hurt by The Saints this time round, time will tell against the Cats.

Hogan is likely to get a week, I reckon we might see the dual ruckmen experiment which worked so well against the Cats 2 years ago, allowing Watts to stay forward for the whole match. Spoke to D Kent at the footy y`day, he is ready to go if selected and felt good after the Casey practice match. Hannan has been OK but he is no DKent (By the way, he met up with Lynden Dunn pre match who gave him a big man hug. I said to Dunny ``you`re still a Demon aren`t you mate`` to which he replied yeah I just wanted to come along and see how the boys go). Someone has to come out for Vince, not like for like but possibly Brayshaw/ANB OUT Hogan (susp), Hannan, Brayshaw/ANB IN Spencer, Kent, Vince

Good teams win when they play like shyte. We'll take the win, plenty to work on still. Garletts brilliant run down tackle and goal one of the very few highlights, it was just awesome with the game on the line.

Glad they acknowledged it, but strange time aside (which I agree with him), surely a club knows what time the match starts?? Think the Swans Port match was the same start time too.

Just bumping this to see if anyone whatsoever saw or heard anything from this match?? Would love to know who if Wagner is ready to go for Smith and who might come in for Bernard who may well have a week off courtesy of the MRP!!

Great to hear Angry! Gotta say, there was a fair bit of swagger from all the fans behind behind the goals around the cheer squad, it was a great atmosphere there yesterday. It was pretty loud too for an Etihad game! Great time to have the kids involved, they are in for a great ride the next 5 or so years!

Did anyone else notice the Saints ran out with barely 2 minutes til the start of the game? In fact, the game started late by nearly 1 minute because of it. I`ve never seen a team come out thru the banner, do 1 sprint, have a 20 second huddle and then run to their positions. I`m sure it was a ploy to have us rattled, but I wonder if they`ll cop a fine??

I agree Nasher. I`m sure Goodwin had some harsh words to the players at qtr time but the only thing that really changed was we started winning the centre bounce clearances (led by Clarry), and we also did not get reamed by the umps for the rest of the game like we did in the first qtr (8 to 2!). I actually was not worried at qtr time strangely.
