  1. We will have another average year I`m afraid. Bottom 4 for sure. We will improve no doubt but we are a long way behind even Port n Freo at the moment. We will pick up some great kids this draft, get another year into our under 22 brigade and I expect us to bounce back strongly in 2010
  2. Bit harsh I think. Struggled with injury all year and as you say has only played 2 or 3 games this year. Was a good idea to give him a run today just to get a taste again and I doubt too much was expected of him. Full pre season will do him good. Must admit he looks like he has put on a few kg`s which is good and will put 3 or 4 more on over summer!
  3. And in the process the Bombers have taken over the seasons lowest score for the year which we achieved for the 2nd time this year today! Thanks Sainters!
  4. 6 Sylvia 5 Carroll 4 Buckley 3 Green 2 Whelan 1 Bruce
  5. Its been painful to say the least. Not too sure how many times I have walked away from the G this year thinking I have just witnessed the poorest display for the year. It looked like most of them were planning ahead for Mad Monday today! Honestly, I think we can expect more of the same next year, maybe slight improvement if we keep our injuries down. Bring on 2010!
  6. Not sure . I think he has played too many games this year to get nominated next year?
  7. Yeah he has had a dream run after half a dozen games. Good news 4 Cale though, hopefully he gets the nod this week
  8. Has Dalziell from Bris been nominated yet?? He was BOG last night. There is also a kid Connors who has 3 goals at half time for Richmond??Cale seems to get pipped at the post every time he has a blinder! Would be a blight on the rising star concept if he doesnt get nominated this year.
  9. I was at the G yesterday and I have to say there were eerie similarities to the Kreuzer Cup game last year. In fact, I would go as far as saying it was only marginally more of a contest than that pathetic game last year. West Coast did not come to play yesterday. They refused to man up and chase. They kicked 1 goal 10 from the 4 minute mark of the 2nd quarter and should have kicked at least 4 or 5 of those if they really wanted to. The only positive we get from this game is that a few blokes found a bit of form and perhaps some confidence but these are easy to find when you have very little pressure applied against you. It`s nice for the boys to enjoy a win, but those of you that think our skill and efforts won us the game yesterday need to take the rose coloured glasses off.
  10. Hawaii 5 0 from me! Feels good to get involved!
  11. No. Tonight was just a timely little reality check against a damn good team Just think yourself very lucky that you got to watch it in Thailand.
  12. Spot on. I wondered what the point of playing him was tonight other than the obvious that Jamar was unavailable? Thought it might be his chance to show a Collingwood or Carlton that he may have a year left in him. Sorry Jeff, it`s done n dusted mate and I think you know it. Thanks for some great years that seem a long long time ago !
  13. 3rd or 4th round pick will do!... We`d be very lucky to get that the way he`s travelling. I wish Yze Magic was here to tell us why on earth we should keep him
  14. Make no mistake. We have a future superstar in our hands. Yes , he has had some horrendous turnovers(the whole team has just quietly!) but the main thing we should concern ourselves about is his ability to find the ball and find space on a regular basis. He will fill out over summer, get fitter and gain more confidence with a stronger body. He butchered the ball early yesterday but his ability to overcome a pretty ordinary start to the match and put in a blinder in the last quarter was a pleasure to watch.
  15. 6 Jnr 5 Bate 4 Valenti 3 Morton 2 Sylvia 1 Jamar
  16. Fair enough he has made some very ordinary clangers but I am beggining to be more and more impressed with the big fella. Hille will probably be named All Australian this year and Jamar matched him if not beat him in the ruck today. He is starting to get the ball a bit more around the ground and when you think of how rare stats have been for him other than hit outs , it`s no wonder he stuffs it up occassionally cos he is not used to having the pill in his hands and he is instinctively trying to give it off! I am actually starting to think we don`t need Warnock at all and save that pick for a decent forward. Jamar, for the past few weeks has been far more effective in the ruck and around the ground than White has been in the past 2 years.
  17. Have to agree with ya H. Time to step up Juice! Fantastic news re all the others. Is Bell outta contract ?? He is playing for his career at Melbourne today IMO
  18. The man from Windy Hill is on the money here. I was not one of the fans who was jacked off because we beat the Lions a few weeks back. I loved it and felt it was one of the best wins we have had in 10 years. If we win this one however, we are in dangerous territory. West Coast in 2 weeks are every chance of tanking the game, suddenly we are 4 wins. AAMI stadium has been a hellhole for Melbourne forever and earlier in the year you`d have pencilled in another standard 70 point loss. Port are a basket case with more senior players in cotton wool than any team in the comp. We are a serious chance of beating them and suddenly we have 5 wins .... De Ja Vu
  19. Green deserves it. His acts of courage started to appear last year when very few others were giving any at all. He saved our first 2 wins against Adelaide and Collingwood with courageous Johnathon Brown like marks running head on into large packs! He has done it several times again this year even when we have been getting thumped. Miller is certainly stepping up this year with great leadership qualities. He`ll make a great VC and can take the reigns when Greeny closes in on retirement.
  20. I was at that game and remember how bad the Dawks were. What stood out more than anything was how badly they turned the ball over and kicked to 1 on 2 and 1 on 3 contests, just as we are doing right now. They had a team of relative no names. How quickly it can turn around. I see some amazing similarities in our team and for the first time I can remember I think we are going to have one of the best backlines in the comp within 2 to 3 years. For so long its been the backs that have let us down but right now they are the reason we are not copping 100 point floggings. Our midfield has been woeful with the way the ball has been coming out of the middle. Forwardline has been pathetic apart from Miller, Wonna and M Bate in patches. The backline has stood up very well under enormous pressure for the past 7 or 8 weeks. I expect another average year next year, maybe 7 wins, but we will see some very good signs appear by the last 4 or 5 rounds next year. Believe it!
  21. Must have been amazing to be at that game. I was living in Sydney at that stage but will never forget the feeling and excitement knowing that we were about to play finals football for the first time of my life. Beat red hot favourites Nth Melb by 20 goals and that record is still to be beaten I think. The famous footage of G lyon getting stretchered off is from that R22 match at Footscray. How handy would he have been in the Prelim against the Hawks at Waverley?? I am missing finals just thinking about it.
  22. When did that happen ? I thought he was one of sandys best last week??
