  1. The coach is well loved by the players from what i have been told by a players mother who does my roster at work. Sam Gray is one of the players being mentioned as available for trade, but he has said he doesnt want to leave the club. If for some reason there are multiple players being shopped around, its because PAFC have decided on a mini-rebuild, not because the players want to leave en mass. Having said that if we could get Wines for next years first rounder, i would do it immediately.
  2. It would also give us greater flexibility into the future as we would use 2 first rounders this year, meaning we can trade future first rounders in more drafts. If we are actually entering our "window" this makes sense. Go for it Josh.
  3. Future fourth... done.
  4. Thats clearly @Ethan Tremblay about to break the news about our next big trade.
  5. Yep, the points values are just a rough way of comparing trade values, like we did with Lever. I thought it was a lop-sided trade at the time (still do based purely on Jakes output SO FAR but we clearly coudnt have known that at the time ). When it was explained that the points of the picks involved had us paying something like pick 6 (?) i calmed down a bit. 6 for a fully fit and in-form Lever wasnt so bad if he was consistently on the park, but like i said we couldnt know he would get injured...... Anyway, you are right that each draft will be different, and pick 10 points in this draft might be very different to the same points in a weaker (Or stronger) draft, but they had to start somewhere, and i think this system isnt the worst thing the AFL has ever come up with. We can all agree that the League could have easily found a worse way of doing things. As for the bolded part, i think it would have at least some value to clubs in negotiations as it gives a negotiating start-point for trades as the AFL has made rules regarding how close in points value trades have to be, to get ticked off. Stops weaker clubs constantly getting shafted by stronger clubs in negotiations.
  6. Fair question Wise, but it obviously come down to what plan our recruiting team have. If the consensus is that we could get 2 players we rate v's 1 with pick 3, obvs it makes sense to "split the pick" (Quote marks as thats what most are calling it. I just consider it a pick swap, but either way it means the same thing) Points are just an attempt to put a value on each pick so trades can be controlled by league HQ. If you couldnt trade, nobody would have wasted the effort to put points value on them imo. In this case, i get where the AFL is coming from. It rules out totally lopsided trades and other dodgy business (or stupid trades by desperate list managers) Im ok if they swap it for 2 later first rounders because the whole recruiting team would already know what they want, and have some idea what will be available if we have those 2 later picks. Who knows, we may well be planning to trade at least one of those picks for a ready made gap-filler. With Tomlinson and Langdon we have already had a good trade period (although i also really want a good forward crumber) so anything else is cream on top imo.
  7. Cant remember the last time i clicked on a thread at the top of the page. Usually its boring pinned threads i cbf'd reading. This one is much more interesting.
  8. Our team just got that little bit better. No draft picks involved, and not massive coin. Hasnt played a game for us yet, but im gonna go out on a limb and call it a win in advance. Welcome to MFC Basil Tomlinson
  9. I laughed at this post until i realised my wife is your sister in law..... Then i stopped laughing. Bastard!
  10. Hey @faultydet lives there..... should get him to head down to the lagoon and get in his ear.
  11. Maybe we are. One infuriating thing about the MFC now it that it just doesnt leak. At all. Wish they would sometimes......
  12. I was about to post the same thing. ofc people could counter that with their list, theres no way they will miss finals next year. but most of the footy world thought the same of us at the beginning of this season. Not sure if Brissy will be better next year (and i predicted that they would have a good year in 2019), but i feel certain that we will be.
  13. Guess which club would be the first you want to deal with if hunting a "win"...................... Shame we cant trade with ourselves
  14. If we take 3 to the draft, unless we have some sort of sweet deal with GWS i think we have to make a bid on their academy guy if he is rated that highly. We of all clubs cant afford to miss any opportunity to slow down the growth of the AFL" pet clubs. Why on earth would we allow an easy extra hit at the first round for GWS if we can prevent it? If he is rated in the top 5 and fills a need, i say we bid and make GWS pay a price. We havent exactly made like bandits in our trades with GWS, so its time to get a bit back.
  15. I can confirm next year is the year.
  16. Has been a magnificent, loyal servant of the club through its darkest days. Could have gone elsewhere for success, and maybe more coin, but stuck with us, and captained when it would have been an utter embarrassment. Wasnt blessed with the highest level of skill, but went some way towards making up for it with his incredible attitude. Kept at it, and kept at it, when many lesser leader would have just given up. Didnt win many games off his own boot, but not many players could have done that considering the lack of help he had for years. Stood down when the time was right and deserves nothing but praise for his decision. Onya Jonesy. *Raises glass
  17. Got my popcorn ready for when @olisik hears about this development
  18. Absolutely over the top gifting by League HQ. Completely unjustifiable when their reasoning for MFC not getting priority picks is used (which ofc it wasnt) The AFL has given up even pretending to be something other than a scam.
