TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 1
bandicoot replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Weideman is 195cm and 95kg. All he needs to do is create a contest and have garlett, ANB, tracca and other mods feed off the loose ball. He is big enough imo to do this -
TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 1

Not too sure you can play all 4 of those tall forwards at once. Reiwoldt plays up the ground but at almost 35 yo he is bound to start slowing down. Mcartin, membrey and Bruce can't all play in the forward 50 which means that 1 will be on the bench. J smith can cover membrey, o mac can cover Mcartin and t mac can cover Bruce. -
TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 1

ANB essentially took Buggs spot. I believe ANB provides more forward pressure and is likely to score more. Hannan took Harmes spot beacsue we desperately lack speed. This lack of speed cost us both games last year and Goodwin isn't keen to replicate this mistake. Spencer was never going to get selected for etihad as it would have made the side even slower. Most teams are missing 3-4 of their starting side including saints. We are unlikely to have a full side again this year so get used to it. -
Not every player has to be elite. GWS have buntine listed as playing this weekend. Not sure how much better bunting is than ANB

Is Carlton running around with half a team made up of GWS rejects?

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 1

Yep.. picked smith as at 190cm can easily match up against Bruce, membrey or mcartin. Hannan is also 190cm and is quick. Can match it with saints outside mids -

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 1

Correct... we were almost level 10 minutes into the last. In saying that scoring shots were still favoriting saints. We were lucky to be so close at that point. Hogans ineffectiveness after quarter time hurt us imo -

Did hogan come off injured during the early part of the match? -
Not sure if saints used third man up tactic last year to nullify Gawn. If this is the case then they will have to alter their strategy for round 1.

Went to the concert on Saturday night and the ground was completely covered with plastic flooring. The center square had a massive circular stage on it. The ground will get a complete workout when all the construction vehicles remove the stage.
-
Round 17 last year. Scores were nearly level 10 minutes into the last quarter. They then scored 5 goals to 1.

Agree. I think we lose if Spencer plays. Better off trialling him at the G'. I'd also swap pedo for weid. Smith is a question mark in defense. We desperately lack good foot and decision skills down back. He only adds to this problem. Better off giving the role to trengove.

Watts played 22 games in 2016, came 5th at B&F and had his contract extended for 3 years. I'll take those stats over 2 practice games.

A bit of a negative twist?? If this is his write up on a 50 point win then I'd hate to read his point of view on a loss.
-
You mate are the epitome of a miserable supporter. Not sure how a team can win by 50 points and for you to only find the negatives. I wonder if you have the same disposition on life

Equal pay will come when aflw lands a $2.5 billion tv rights deal, attracts 400,000 paying fans to its opening weekend and has clubs attract a $2m per year major sponsor. no sport in the world has woman earn as much as men (even tennis apart from grand slams). Reason bring no woman sports attracts the same coverage as men's

Didn't he come off at training injured?
-
Someone made mention that he came off during training on Tuesday. Not sure what the incident was

We've had a few changes since round 17, 2016. No longer on list: grimes, white, m jones Not playing round 1: vanders, Wagner, Kennedy. Ins: hibberd, melkshem, Lewis, Salem, stretch, Oliver, Spencer did hogan also come off injured after qtr time? Garlett also had really low numbers. These 6 replacements (almost 1/3 of team) is much better than last years 6. Oliver alone makes us a 1-2 goal better side. Add to that a net of 400 additional games of experience and you have a vastly improved side on paper. Saints will add carslise, n brown, steele, mcartin. Not massive additional impact.

The bookies don't make the market. The market is determined by the punters. The odds reflect that we are favoured to win by the betting public
