Melksham might have been on the list but never played a game. The youngest side reflects who plays that week, of which Melbourne was the youngest side for 14 rounds. Adding 260 games, 114 games and 90 games will have a difference to the average. The last game of the year vs Geelong our average games was 69 games. I presume this will bump up to 80 with these inclusions.

Leadership skills require more than just playing well. Its also knowing how to motivate, inspire and get the best out of your team mates. Not every player reacts the same to a situation. Its knowing what buttons to press and when to press them. Not sure if Viney has learnt the skills for this yet.

Agree... one of the clubs many issues has been on field leadership. Not many players stood up when there was a run of goals against us. Currently jones is holding the fort single handidly and Vince a distant second. The new crop of players have what it takes but that might take a little while. Viney, Gawn, Brayshaw, petracca? Oliver? Mcdonald? Most good teams have 5-6 on field leaders. Let's hope these players can stand up in the future

We desperately lack speed and spread. We have too many mids that are similar in and under players. Viney, Tyson, jones, Brayshaw, Oliver etc. we were heavily exposed against the dogs and saints because they we just too quick. Lewis won't do anything to help this. At best he will take a half back flank role and provide some prescision off the back line (something that we also lack).

$200m will be paid back to the AFL through profits over the next 10 years. Assuming no debt, the stadium makes an annual profit of $25m. Giving $10m to each club is a sure way for the AFL to go broke. The stadium has also been running numerous events throughout the year without compromising on games. I can't see this changing. I'm backing the AFL's corporate advisers over your 'back of the envelope' accounting.

I believe that the Dees will likely keep Dawes on a 1 year reduced pay check deal. Will provide good leadership to a young side. Will essentially fight for a spot with Pederson and Weiderman.

Foot skills will determine frosts future. No point in dashing out of defense only to give it back to the opposition. The whole team need to get better by foot for significant improvement
-
How is it a poorly designed stadium? What does orientation have to do with an indoor stadium? There is absolutely no way that the stadium will be demolished. Stadiums life span is 50 years and not 20. Regardless it's still crown land and the stadium is on an extended lease. The AFL does not own the land

I like the ground. Easy to get to. Great view from every seat and you don't get wet. Can't blame the ground for Melbourne's poor record
-
The game requires big men to have agiiity and pace. Dawes ubfortubalty has neither. The big forward that doesn't have these attributes won't last in the modern game

All we needed to do was get an assistant coach from the Hawks. Clarkson is a mastermind and should go down in history as the greatest coach of all time. Beveridge would have made the dees a premiership side. He has taken the best parts of the clarkson game plan, tweaked them and presto... premiership. the dogs on paper and no better than Melbourne. Their game style and tactics are a world apart. lets hope Goodwin can mimic how clarkson plays and implement it for next year.

Jong had his left shoulder strapped all year... media 'professionals' have no bloody idea -

Macca??? The bulldogs success is 100% the result of beveridge and his improved clarkson model. I have no doubt that if beveridge coached Melbourne 3 years ago then we would have been more successful -

The Hawks are finished. Not at quick as the other sides anymore. -

The flat track at etihad plays right into Footscray's fast running game plan. It also exposes our lack of outside speed and pace -

Give the guy a full preseason before riding him off. He wasn't even running this time last year. its unfair to criticize him before a good pre season -

It's not the players!!! It's our game plan. We have a superior list than Footscray at both VFL and AFL levels however we play an outdated game plan that gets exposed with the modern game. both the saints and dogs play a high pressure, quick game that makes us look slow. Goodwin needs to look away from Roos structure and implement the clarkson plan -
The top finishing team should have home ground advantage. The only reason for a ground change will be if there will be a huge amount of supporters missing out at spotless. Neither the dogs or GWS are large cores drawing teams. Spotless will remain and GWS have desereved this advantage

I like Robbo... He asks good questions. There is a reason the show has been running for 10 years

Couldn't find the previous thread... Who will the Dee's delist in the coming weeks? Usually there are 6-7 that make way. I think all below are on shaky ground. Michie, White, Dawes, Terlich, Newton, Grimes, Max King, Pederson Not too sure who else is shaky, who will be traded and who will be on Rookie list.

Another coaching era has passed and it's arguable if we are any better. Let's hope Goodwin knows how to coach
-
I think our forward coach is Goodwin... We are in real trouble
-
How after 3 years do our forwards not know how to lead?
-
Won't miss Paul Roos game style. The player have no idea how to play after 3 years. How ow difficult was it to get a hawthorn assistant 3 years ago.
-
Might be a good team manger but not a great coach. I won't miss the game style. Failed to have a modern game plan
