He was voted by the players into the leadership group after 7 weeks. That says it all. He will be the one directing the plays when the game is in the balance and will be instrumental come finals time. That my friend is priceless and puts him in the top 5 most important players in the side. If we have learnt anything from the Bailey days is that you need to strike a fine balance between experience and youth. Just ask Anthony Mcdonald what he thought about his role at GWS.

Who led the dogs last year? Your lack of football knowledge is on show. Matt Boyd - 290 games Dale Morris - 230 games
-
Good point. Not sure if this year is an an anomaly however on any given day the bottom side could beat the top. I still believe theat GWS have an amazing list when all players get back from injury. Brett Deledio Rory Lobb Jacob Hopper Will Setterfield Nick Haynes Devon Smith Stephen Coniglio Ryan Griffen Matt Buntine Adam Kennedy

Yes 4.. kept thinking Eagles were still in the 8. tough task beating them in Perth.
-
All the respect to drop him next week for Gawn...
-
You are an absolute [censored]. you can't measure what he brings to the side in experience and leadership. he is like having another coach on the field. We are very fortunate that you have absolutely nothing to do with the MFC.

Interesting that Dees are now sitting in 6th. Have the 6th highest total crowds in attendance (H&A). Even after an abysmal 5,000 in Alice. Have recorded 2 games in top 6 in attendance this season. Vs tigers (2nd biggest) and vs Pies. http://afltables.com/afl/crowds/2017.html

Next 11 has us playing 5 teams in the top 8... could be a lot worse...
-
6 wins from the next 11 games should see us in. Gwan and hogan will only make us better. Clear September from your diaries...
-
Etihad is a ground that you can get away without a ruckman. I still wouldn't won't to be gifting 70 hitouts to the dogs. Spencer or Gawn are a must
-
Am very concerned that we aren't playing with a ruck. You need big men at the G. Main reason why we didn't win against tigers, Roos, Hawks and dockers. lets hope the team is 'on' today otherwise even an 8 goal qtr won't get us over the line.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 12
bandicoot replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is spencer playing for Casey? -
I'd prefer a team getting smacked then a team winning by 10 goals.

Fremantle will beat the bears and take 6th...

Not sure he will get a contract..,

Not too sure the FD have the same mindset as you. Mid season is a perfect time to asses the list.
-
FD are starting to plan for 2018. My understanding is that we need a minimum of 3 free spots. Definite outs: Lumumba Contract ending 2017: VandenBerg, Kennedy, JKH, Hulett, Mitch King, White, Tim Smith, Trengove Have no idea how Garland got 3 years. Contract ends 2018. I'm thinking: Lumumba, Kennedy, Hulett and White. Trengove might get rookie listed or traded for a late round pick. Thoughts?
-
What did he say?
-
Massive outs. Especially Elliott. He has single handily transformed their forward line.
-
I think the loses at the G have been without a ruck. It's a ground that needs big men and you get found out without one.
-
My calculations have the Dees needing to win 7 from the last 12 games and a similar % to clinch a spot in the finals. We were in the same situation last year but could only manage 5 wins. Our second half this season should be better assuming we front up with a ruckman. im penciling in: Pies, sydney (h), Carlton, north (tas), saints, lions, pies. Eagles also looking shaky without Kennedy. I'll be counting down game by game for our first appearance in a decade.

Would be thrilled to play Richmond in the finals. Most over rated team in the 8. freo will struggle to make it and west coast aren't a shoe in either. They play 7 more games at home and considering their form might only win 5. That puts them at 11 wins, short of the 12/13 required. Dees fate is in their own hands Also leaves the door right open for essendon and saints. Essendon will need to win 7 from 11 and saints like Melbourne 7 from 12.

Don't think has had enough fight in him to be a good enough shutdown player.
-
Seems like his cards are marked. Cant see him being recalled to the side anytime this year. Really wanted to see him make it back to the the seniors however we are stacked with similar players. Jones, Oliver, Tyson, viney and Lewis all play a similar role and are in front of him. Only Watts, jones and T mac remain from the dreaded neeld days.
