That might be the AFL's thinking and fair enough too but, if so, there's no reason the game couldn't be played at the usual 2.10 or even 2.30 timeslot. 4.35 makes no sense at all to me.

Thankfully, it doesn't always work that way. My old man was a hardcore Collingwood fan, but none of his four sons fell for that trap. I was the only one who picked Melbourne, however.

I think the difference this time is that Collingwood are not trying to foist Elliott onto us as a trade. They would prefer he stayed, but he is a free agent who may choose to leave for more dollars/longer contract/ whatever.

Trouble is, that has absolutely nothing to do with the concept of "sliding doors".
