Why were they playing loud music over the PA before the game when there was nobody even there to get deafened by it?

Just saw this on Facebook (yes, I know!) and thought it worth sharing: I was just told that a bus load of people of Asian appearance were pulled over between Geelong and Melbourne as the bus had a flat tyre and the Police saw it before the driver was aware. When everyone exited the bus they had bulk loads of basic essentials and on inspection the bus was loaded with such products. After a brief discussion it was found that it was a tour bus that is due to leave Melbourne airport this afternoon and it was always the intention to buy up all the products they could carry on the plane and were then going to leave all their clothing behind in a charity bin. The coach driver says it was planned to happen several weeks ago and wasn’t a strange occurrence for overseas visitors to do so but has just come at the wrong time, as not only do they now need what we all need but they have had to source it from country towns instead of the city as the shops have all run out. Anyhow as the policeman was boarding the bus to inspect it a lady started pulling his leg just like I am doing to you now. See ! It’s easy for you to all start spreading rubbish and the one thing that you have all forgotten is the saying “You can only half believe something you hear, but fully believe something you see. But if you see it, make sure it’s a true story before someone half believes it”.

I'm probably influenced by all the other major sporting organisations cancelling their games and don't see why AFL would be the exception. I guess I'm also taking a cautious approach to the whole virus scenario. Like you, I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Yep, that's a more realistic figure, ManDee. But it also assumes that the infection rate won't keep increasing day by day. Personally, I'd call the whole thing off but I can understand the opposite point of view and the fans thirst for some football.

According to the Federal Government's official numbers, there were 565 cases as of this morning. Not sure where you get the figure of one in a million, which would equal only about 25 cases.

I just told you I don't pretend to have the answers. What I was doing was addressing your apparent blind faith in Trump and pointing out how he has failed miserably on this issue. As for bringing up Morrison and Biden, again you're trying to move the goalposts. I haven't and don't care to comment on either of those two individuals as they are irrelevant to the topic, which is how Trump had mishandled the virus pandemic. I've made my position as clear as I can and have nothing further to add. I hope that you and all other Demonlanders get through this crisis in one piece. I don't understand your line of argument here, Dante. Are you sticking up for Trump or just playing "whataboutism"? And what the heck does an Australian politician have to do with USA's situation? I'll meet you halfway and tell you what I wouldn't do, but what Trump and his administration have done: 1. I wouldn't claim the whole thing was a hoax and a conspiracy by my political opponents and/or China. 2. I wouldn't claim that fewer than five people would be infected. 3. I wouldn't claim that the virus is just the same as the flu. 4. I wouldn't claim that anybody who needed a test could get one. 5. I wouldn't claim that we were very close to a vaccine. 6. I wouldn't claim the virus will go away once the hot weather arrives. 7. I wouldn't claim that risk to citizens is low. 8. I wouldn't claim that the virus will miraculously disappear one day. Now, I don't claim to have the solution to this problem but telling lies, being wrong about the facts and not acting a lot sooner surely doesn't help. Thinking that Trump is unfit for the presidency doesn't automatically make you a "leftie", either.

Having had glandular fever many years ago, I can vouch for that. I was as weak as a kitten, listless with no energy or appetite and ended up being bed-ridden for a week. Took me months to fully recover so I hope that Salem only has a mild dose.
