  1. Well put, Mr. Hemingway. Could it be said that a creed is an organisation's game plan?
  2. "The love of money is the root of all evil" is the whole saying and is actually a Biblical quotation.
  3. You may have missed the intent of my smart alec post, Luci. Five hundred million dollars?
  4. Can't be criticised for that decision. $500million is a LOT of money in anyone's language.
  5. Stuart Spencer wasn't from Tasmania!
  6. Q: What did the dead blues singer have inscribed on his gravestone? A: "Well, I didn't wake up this morning."
  7. My brother reckons that "dropkick" is a shortened version of the rhyming slang "dropkick and punt", which puts quite a different complexion on the use of the word as a descriptor of somebody.
  8. That's funny, I think of people who don't know how to use apostrophes.
  9. Very nice, hardtack. A Hoodoo Gurus tune, if I'm not mistaken?
  10. Don't you know how it goes, binman? When we win, it's because the team played well. When we lose, it's because the coach is no good.
  11. Just make sure you know when you've had enough ...
  12. Two from the same source: "Trump won". "COVID-19 is a hoax".
  13. If any Demonlanders face the awful prospect of spending Christmas alone, please contact me. Looking for some extra chairs.
  14. 40 days and 40 nights at least.
  15. Not quite right. Stuie went to Tassie after he left Melbourne at the premature age of 25, but he grew up in the tiny hamlet of Digby in the Western District and was recruited from Portland Football Club, the same source as Clyde Laidlaw.
  16. Voter fraud now officially confirmed in US elections.
  17. But cairns are made from stone. Strange world we live in.
  18. We'll play anyone, anywhere*, at any time. Bring it on. * May not apply to Cairns.
  19. There was a time in the early 90s when we would receive a Christmas card signed by a player (in ink) as part of our membership and I still have ones from Allen Jakovich, Rod Grinter and Stephen Tingay. These were then replaced by a card with printed autographs and one I have kept featured coach Neil Balme, Garry Lyon, Jimmy Stynes, Glenn Lovett and Tingay. I assume the practice ceased for reasons of cost, but it was a nice gesture that I appreciated receiving each year.
  20. Six foot is 1829mm, rounded up to 183cm. You shan't out-pedant ME, young man!
  21. "The Demon Drink"?
  22. If the nickname was a good one, I'd have to agree with you.
  23. According to The Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers and other sources, Charles was in in fact 182cm tall, or just a tad under six foot in the old money. That is more in keeping of how I remember him rather than him being a mere 175cm.
  24. Except for the pesky fact that Bowey rhymes with Howie and Bowie rhymes with Joey.
