Clearly not an example of Shiel be Wright.

I think there are two records being confused here. The record that Bowey holds is the most number of career games without a single loss. The other record is most games before first loss, as shown in the table above. Bowey is four wins behind that particular record at the moment.

That was the joke.

That's what spuds are for.

When was the last time you watched Melbourne lose?
Demonstone replied to Big Col's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think I may hold the record here. It was round 9 in 1998 and we lost to Essendon at the MCG after a stirring win the previous week at the same venue against Collingwood. Lyon, Viney and Stynes were among those still playing for the Demons. Haven't been to a game since for reasons many and varied. Come at me. -
Nutshell.

We were shaken, but not stirred.

Not for a long time, binny. Drew Banfield in 1992 and Michael Gardiner in 1996 are their only number one draft picks.

Seventeen Grand Finals as either a player or coach for ten wins (and a draw).

3 + 1 = 4 which was Norm Smith's number. I can hear that Twilight Zone theme playing.

Matt Buntine was clearly rated as a junior, being taken at pick 5 in the 2011 draft. Adam Tomlinson went at pick 9 in the same draft.

Think you may have missed the intended joke there!

My dear old grandfather was very familiar with turf. He smoked about 30 of them a day.

Indeed. What about him?

Why?

Just missed out but could get a gig as the injury sub. He'd be great for team morale. I can just picture him running around after we score a goal and handing out the high four and a halves to his teammates.

Terry gave up his footy career for a crack at showbiz.

All this chat (see what I did there?) about wings has sent me on a flight of fancy. I submit, for your amusement or otherwise, a team of high flyers. B: Robert Teal Fred Swift Laurie Fowler H/B: Andrew Swallow Bill Duckworth Fred Finch C: Gary Crane Dane Swan Craig Bird H/F: Paul Hawke Max Crow Nathan Eagleton F: Nakia Cockatoo Stewy Gull John Butcher R: Stef Martin Tom Sparrow Percy Heron I/C: Peter Featherby Haydn Robins Matthew Larkin Peter Quill COACH: John Wren

I still have a little booklet (12 x 7.5cm) from 1964 titled "Laws of the Australian National Game of Football", distributed by the manufacturers of Viscount Cigarettes (!), with the approval of the Australian National Football Council. As you might expect, the rules are few and quite straightforward. As you might also expect, the booklet contains advertising for Viscount which in those days sold for 3 bob (30 cents) for a pack of 20. A handball is defined as "holding the ball in one hand and hitting it with the other hand".

It's one of those games where you're dirty that one team will have a win but ecstatic that one of them will lose. A draw would be my preferred result with both teams feeling like they missed out. edit: I'm talking about the Collingwood v Essendon game.

Daniel Turner? I don't think he's played a game this year because of injury and, when fit, would make his comeback at Casey to continue his development as a promising defender.

It was James Kelly wasn't it? I have always enjoyed defeating Collingwood more than any other team and probably always will. In a blanket finish for second most disliked, I'd nominate Essendon, Carlton, Geelong, Richmond and Hawthorn. It's probably no coincidence that these teams have won multiple flags and regularly belted us over the years.

It was mentioned that Matt Buntine is due back soon after suffering a calf injury. I know many posters have been wondering why he hasn't made an appearance yet.
