  1. Don't forget folks, it's West Footscray station, not Footscray. I clearly remember the jubilation at the station and on the train after we won that game in 1987 to make the finals!
  2. Yep, Harry Beitzel was 3AW.
  3. Greg Baum's take on the unseemly Daisy kerfuffle. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/latest-rant-over-daisy-pearce-just-a-bad-call-20220722-p5b3sh.html
  4. Sidebar: With all the mentions in trading threads of "steak knives", I wonder if younger posters have any idea what that unusual phrase is actually all about. I admit to not watching much TV these days, but surely it's been many a long year since we had ads like that?
  5. I know you're not in the habit of using them, but capital letters are very important dc. It's the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
  6. We tanked. I know others clubs did/do the same, but haven't been called out on it like we were. Cheers Brock! I remember one game in particular v St Kilda when Jurrah was kicking goals and starring up forward while Frawley was keeping Reiwoldt quiet at the other end and we were headed for victory. Lo and behold, Jurrah was benched, Frawley was moved to the forward line and Reiwoldt subsequently cut loose and was the matchwinner for the Saints.
  7. You're planning a nudie run if we win the flag this year?
  8. My copy of "Between The Flags" arrived today and, having just had a quick skim through, I can't wait until I have time to sit down and give it a proper, thorough read. Kudos to Ian for the speedy postage and handling.
  9. I've still got the first TISM single that I bought back in the 1980s, the title of which would not pass the censors on this site (initials are "D.O.M.F."). It's a 7" single that came packaged in a 12" cardboard sleeve that was glued on all four sides, so you had to break into the packaging to get to the actual record. Those wacky funsters!
  10. Oliver looked ginger at training today, as did Bowey and Petty.
  11. I know that Weid's grandfather was a Collingwood legend, but is there any other reason so many posters assume that they would be keen on trading for Sam? Surely any club would chase players based on talent and needs, not lineage.
  12. I love the father/son rule and hope it's never abolished. It's one of the few romantic aspects of what has become more of a hard-nosed business and less of a game in recent times. No team gains an unfair advantage with it as it's down to luck which sons of former players are up to AFL level. Geelong were fortunate as are Collingwood right now but it's available for all clubs to utilise. I'll be even further enamoured with the rule if Kynan Brown, Noah Yze, Kalani White et al turn out to be great players.
  13. Good point, Nascent.
  14. Looks 50/50 to me, Luci. They both play Crows and Suns, so those two games cancel out. Of the other three games, I wouldn't expect either North or West Coast to win any of them so it might just come down to percentage in the end. It's your classic "race to the bottom" scenario with North finishing last the better result for us.
  15. Bhang! Bhang bhang bhang!
  16. I saw a couple of our players slip over today. Are our footwear maintenance technicians state of the art or do we still have a load of old cobblers? #Sackthebootstudder
  17. And here it is folks, a classic case study in mistaking coincidence for causation.
  18. Equal top and with the stingiest defence in the competition while not having been at our best. People with better knowledge than me say that defence wins premierships.
  19. That would really test his aerobic capacity.
  20. We won't have to worry about Charlie Dixon being part of those waves.
  21. Would that fish be a sole?
  22. Put them in his mouth?
  23. Is that his maternal grandfather, dazzle? Ian Brayshaw is still alive and kicking at the age of 80.
  24. Tonight's Round 18 Team Selection Heavyweight Blockbuster at Festival Hall! In the red and blue corner: (The Champion) Reigning Premiership Coach Simon Goodwin, his Selection Committee and his team of assistants with vast experience of playing and coaching at the highest level (at left in photo). VS In the black corner: (The Challengers) Demonland posters who have no experience at AFL level but who like to think that they know more than the professionals (at right in photo).
  25. Magnificent effort there, LD-vC. Urban wore #2 which is an unusually low number for a bloke who only managed one game. I wonder if he suffered a serious injury or maybe he just wasn't much chop.
