Yeah, but the 'G' is also the home ground for 3 of the 4 teams that have beaten us there this year.can't.

............ and don't forget longer-term prospect Austin Bradtke.

Everlasting memories, teary eyes, beautiful thread. Thanks all.

With his undoubted talent, Tracc has the ability to be a game breaker, but 50 games in we are still waiting. If he could consistently deliver on his potential it would be huge for our footy club, but I'm not convinced that the work-rate is there, right now. I expect that he arrived at this point in his career on talent alone, but that's not sustainable in today's game. All dessert and no dinner is not good enough.

Dean Kent is a tease. He has some strong attributes as a small forward, but we only see them spasmodically. First, because his body has seems unable to hold together for sustained periods, but I also because he can be a lazy footballer, and not do the team things, especially when things aren't going his way. I recon we would need to see marked improvements in these areas for him to become a regular 'best 22' in a Goodwin coached team. I'm happy for him to look for opportunities elsewhere, but he might be looking for a long time if he sees himself as a midfielder. We'd be lucky to get a 4th rounder for him, but Jason Taylor can work some magic with late picks.

Paul Roos on the Demonland Podcast Tonight (13/6)
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great / topical questions guys! Great insights from Roosy! Outstanding work by all concerned!! -
We were comprehensively beaten around the stoppages for the second week in a row, and our workrate around the ground was way, way below par today. It's a very disappointing result, but I'm prepared to regard it as an aberration, coming off the back of six very good weeks. The second half of the season will determine whether I'm close to the money, or just kidding myself.

6. T.Mac 5. Oliver 4. Jones 3. Jetta 2. Fritsch 1. Viney Gee, it says a lot when I've included 3 or 4 mids in my best, but we were smashed around the stoppages all day!

Endure them? There's nothing better than watching them all trail out lf the 'G' at 3/4 time!☺️

I truly believe in the current version of the Demons. This feeling of 'true belief' has been a very rare acquaintance in recent years, but it is undeniable. I'm both excited and anxious about today's game, but I'm quietly confident that we have Collingwood's measure in most areas, and especially in our 'never say die' attitude, which will get us across the line if all else fails. Dees by 6 goals.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 12
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lots of loves from me on this one: love for Danners the man, and and his attitude in adversity; love for the way our footy club has embraced Danners, and the MND program; love for the inspiration that Danners continues to give to the football community in general and our club in particular. Let's just do it! -
Great interview. Filled me with confidence ...... not that it needed a boost right now.

Set up some membership tents outside the 'G' after 5:00pm on Monday. Irresistible!

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 12
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Driving down from Canberra on Saturday. I'm already feeling a bit 'edgy', partly because of what's at stake, and partly from sheer excitement of the occasion that is QB at the 'G'. A lot of the media talk has been about how evenly the teams are matched, but while I can see some of that, I find it difficult to see how C'wood can contain our forward set-up for four quarters. I reckon our flexibility, running power, avenues to goal and the TMac / Hogan factor will be too much for them in the end. I'm quietly confident that I'll have a broad smile on my face, together with a certain smugness that only comes with beating C'wood, as I head north along the Hume on Tuesday. Dees by 5 goals. -
In my eyes Neville is a modern-day hero of the MFC, in some ways cast from a similar mould to Nathan Jones. Both wear our colours with pride. I can't see that changing!
-
Great work Tommy and our FD. Now for your little bro and your mate Neville.
-
Where we finish has a great deal to do with self (team) belief, and steely resolve. We have shown an abundance of these qualities in the last 6 weeks, and if they remain intact, we finish top 4.

Great stuff Neville. Team first as always! Jetta embraces Indigenous round

Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
Deeoldfart replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I feel sorry for Jake, sorry for the Dees and sorry for the Demonland fraternity. It takes some of the gloss off our recent performances, but all we will rebound strongly! -
To me, Nev is the epitome of the perfect ALF AFL footballer ie. he gives everything of himself for the team. He must be an absolute dream to coach.
-
Scrappy game but a good solid win against a team we needed to beat. Overall, disposal wasn't as crisp and clean today as it has been recently. Lacking concentration, not lowering eyes, trying to be a bit too cute or even being a bit lazy on occasions, but some of that may be down to fatigue after the short break and the warm conditions in Alice. I'll happily take the four points and move to QB after a 9 day break to freshen up.

6. Jetta You star!! 5. Hogan 4. Oliver 3. Lewis 2. Fritsch 1. TMac Great spread of good players again. Can't fit Max, Salo, Hannan or Gus in my top 6, despite their good games.

Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
Deeoldfart replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sadly no contact when his knee seemed to buckle, so unlikely to be bone bruising, I reckon. Sincerely hope that this is just MFCSS in my part! -
Excellent article. I like the way it explains the evolution of Jonesy's kicking from the (old) just ' bomb it forward' approach, to what we see today. It's been a remarkable transformation really, and a huge credit to Jonesy.
