2021 Player Reviews: #8 Jake Lever
Rick is, without question, the most reliable rebounding defender in the game, and consistently in our best 6 or 7 players, which is outstanding for a defender in this day and age! As mentioned by others, his leadership is a standout quality, and (along with Maysie), I reckon he played a huge part in developing and seamlessly knitting inexperienced players like Harry Petty, Bowser and Riv into the best defensive system / unit in the game. His croaky voice in some post game interviews, is evidence of his on-field coaching and leadership. It’s hard to speak too highly of his season!

Darren Burgess podcast
That was a sensational interview. Clearly Burgo will be a huge loss, but I have absolute faith that he will have left Selwyn Griffith with the necessary intel to maintain an elite level AFL program at the MFC.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Just a fantastic clip .... and it says every bit as much about Jason Taylor. as it does about 'Dogga'!

2021 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney
Jack is another player who changed his role for the betterment of the team. It's great credit to him that he was able to go against his natural instinct to 'shoulder all of the load all of the time', and adapt his game to better complement those around him. He now forms part of the most feared mid-field combination in the competition, and was a vital cog in our Premiership.

2021 Player Reviews: #6 Luke Jackson
The mischievous spaniel with the missing front teeth. His development in 2021 was phenomenal. In March / April he was a role player, by September he had become a game changer. We wait in awe for when he grows out of his puppy-hood! Go Dogga!

2021 Player Reviews: #4 James Harmes
The 2021 Harmesy bought 100% into the the selfless role player that has become our team mantra. Not only that, but I reckon he bought 100% into the Choco Williams school of effective disposal along the way. Someone will probably pull out stats to prove me wrong, but I suspect that his 'clanger count' in 2021, was well down on previous years. But most importantly, wasn't it brilliant to share his utter joy on Grand Final day, as he lived out his childhood dream in red and blue!

2021 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca
I've followed the game closely for a very long time, and I don't think I've seen a more powerful player at breaking free of congestion / tackles and clearing a contest at speed ......... and this includes the likes of Dusty, Lethal Leigh, Ablett snr., and even our own RDB. I know it can be unfair to compare players of different eras, but for me, Tracc is at a level all on his own. What a player, and what a year he has had!

You're doing well Cass. I received a Fathers Day gift posted from Tassie on 24 August, two days before the GF.

2021 Player Reviews: #2 Nathan Jones
A huge heart, the most broad of shoulders, and simply bleeds red and blue! I'm sure all of us spared a moment thinking of Jonsey amidst the celebrations on Grand Final night, and that in itself, speaks volumes of the man! The very best of wishes for everything that lies ahead Chunk!

2021 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem
Everything seems to move in 'slow motion' when Salo is around the ball. His composure is as good as it gets, his disposal efficiency is elite, and unlike the other HB flankers whose disposal the media drool over, he's also a great defender one on one. He had an outstanding 2021, and was a key plank in our Premiership.

Only just, through tears of my own.

2021 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May
While fully acknowledging all of his outstanding football and ambassadorial qualities as mentioned above, I value Maysie's leadership even more highly.

Shiraz is my preferred drop, and Bleasdale is always very good. This one will taste like Grange!

Welcome to Demonland: Luke Dunstan
I like the idea of getting Dunstan as a DFA. Based on his mid-season run of form (as mentioned by @NeveroddoreveNand @TRIGON) he's pretty hard to go past given the DFA price tag, and I'd hazard a guess that he would take up roughly the same 'cap space' as Jonesy. As with a few others, I do have a niggling worry about why the Saints have cut him, but I'm prepared bank on our coaches, leaders and culture to get the best out of him.

Didn't think this past week could have got any better
Thanks BDA, I appreciate the thought. It leaves a horrible taste but I'm okay. Probably means a bit less Premiership memorabilia though!

Didn't think this past week could have got any better
Okay. I wasn't keen to derail this thread, but if it helps a fellow Demonlander to avoid this crap, then I'll regard it as a 'public service'. Received a call on landline from a scumbag claiming to be part of an internal fraud team with my bank. Said they were trying to catch an internal bank employee who was misappropriating funds. Convinced me to transfer funds to another account, so that they could apprehend the (bogus) employee 'red handed', and you can guess the rest ........ They had hacked my account and had all the details (including most recent transactions). Extremely well scripted with relevant bank music and spiel when the 'phone was on hold, gave me their employee ID numbers, etc. etc. BUT I shouldn't have been so gullible. Beware fellow Demonlanders.

Didn't think this past week could have got any better
Unfortunately, I had some of the gloss was taken off my week by a team of lowlifes. Got scammed to the tune of $9.5k, but at least I’ve been able to take my mind off the crap side of life, by watching replays on repeat. Thanks for providing the joy Dees!

Congrats ‘Frog’. If the young fella can play as well as your namesake, he’ll go okay!

Greg shone bright as one of our best in those dim and dark days. RIP Greg.

Be proud to wear your Melbourne gear!
My wardrobe has been full of Demons gear for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always worn it with pride …………. and, for the most part, been able to ignore snide comments from non-believers. But it’s different now! For the past 50+ years, the pride has mostly been about myself, and sticking with the red and blue during the ‘hard times’. Now it’s all about the 2021 Demons …… and the new trophy in the cabinet! Bloody Hell, I’m even walking with a ‘Tracc-like’ swagger, which probably looks odd for someone of my vintage! But who gives a stuff!

Adam Cerra
I doubt that there's any way we could have satisfied Freo's trade demands, or our own salary cap constraints, without compromising our current list (and perhaps aspects of our superb culture). Nice but unrealistic dream!

Farewell Neville Jetta
Gee, after Saturday night I didn't think I had any tears left, but I was wrong! Nev has been an outstanding role model, both on and off the field, and seems loved and valued by everyone. You only have read the article on the Club website to appreciate what a quality person he is, and the high regard with which he is held.. All the very best to him and his family, for the next part of the journey. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1021995/neville-jetta-calls-time-on-career-in-red-and-blue
