  1. I doubt that very many around here will disagree with you jayceebee. I just hope that the recent rumours about 'Rush' signing on for a further two years are well founded.
  2. They were handed out to participants in the 'Walk to the G', and you are right, they looked great in the crowd.
  3. We are with you all the way Jimma. Looking forward to seeing you holding a Premiership Cup aloft.
  4. I was lucky enough to have a great discussion with Cam Schwab and Don McLardy before yesterday's 'walk to the G'. I mentioned that I was really looking forward to the release of the new Emblem, and Cam just happened to have a copy in his pocket. He gave me a 'sneak preview' and talked me through the design. All I can say is that IMO it brilliantly captures the magnificent history of our great club over the journey, while remaining simple and 'un-cluttered' to the eye. I know I'm a bit biased, but I reckon it will be the envy of every other club in the AFL. Cam added that there is still a bit of fine-tuning to be done (eg. to ensure that the Emblem fits easilg onto various background colours etc.) and it will not be released until late in the year.
  5. Agree ... they are developing a great understanding. First time I can recall an on-ball working relationship like this at MFC for a very long time!
  6. Just got back from Melbourne. My belated votes: 6. Moloney 5. Jamar 4. Davey 3. Frawley 2. Garland 1. Bruce
  7. No offence Vagg, but Geoff Tunbridge (Barrie's predecessor on the HFF) more than had his measure.
  8. Flying down from Canberra. Havn't missed a QB match since I can't remember when. Love the 'walk to the G', and I give us an outside chance. Go Dees!
  9. 6. Moloney 5. Gysberts 4. Jamar 3. Grimes 2. McDonald 1. Jetta
  10. Not ready in terms of physique or experience for KPF at this stage, but we don't have too many options right now. Jack was no worse than Millsey today, and he already has a man's body and is in his eighth season.
  11. I couldn't agree more JJC! As an aside, I remember having several very enjoyable post-match chats with Dicko back in the days when they threw the doors of the MFC dressing rooms open to supporters after the game, and players were 're-hydrating' with VB before taking a shower. They were also the days when players and supporters alike joined in singing both verses of the Grand Old Flag.
  12. Welcome SARS, and thanks for the info.
  13. Well done Dicko. Suffered from 'leather poisoning' throughout most of our golden era. Five time premiership player, 'Bluey' winner and Tassie medalist. A star wingman with the most ungainly (but generally effective) kicking style imaginable.
  14. No mention of Rohan Bail. I know he went off early with a knock to the head, and didn't return. I heard later that he was taken to hospital for scans. Does anyone know the outcome? He's had a very ordinary run with injuries since he was drafted. Also, has anyone heard the nature / extent of big Spencer's knee injury?
  15. On 'The Winners' this evening Dwayne Russell said Col was likely to miss one or two weeks.
  16. That's certainly the way I read it DJ16.
  17. The greatest omission from the Sheahan's list in my mind is the late Ian 'Tiger' Ridley. Our #1 rover during the 'glory days'(courage personified and the ultimate team man), coach for three years (admittedly during leaner times)and went on to serve as Club Chairman. An outstanding contributor to the Melbourne Football Club both on and off the field. I hope his overall contribution wouldnt be marked too harshly by the events of 1996.
  18. I expect Scully and Grimes to be elite players in the competition, but just at the moment they do turn the ball over a bit by foot. I can forgive them that, and I'm confident that they will weed this out of their games as they gain experience, and become more familiar with the pace and pressure of playing at the top level.
  19. I'm not sure about them being 'season defining', but these are important games for us IMO. If we lose them both (especially if we are not competitive and lose them badly), it could set back some of the progress we have made so far. On the other hand, the confidence our young team would take from two wins would be enormous. We all agree that this is a 'development year', and our coach has made it very clear that getting games into our youngsters is a priority, but it's hard to deny that consecutive wins against strong opposition would enhance our self-belief, and have a positive influence on the 'development' of our playing group.
  20. Happy to contribute to such a worthy cause!
  21. I think Jordie McK. was still out there at the end, but that may be because we had limited (fit) options.
  22. Ha!ha! Perfect response!
