  1. Looks like we might have un-earthed a nice player with a punt on a late draft pick. Well done to our recruiting staff. A month ago I was thinking that Rohan would probably be one make way for a new recruit at the end of the season, but if he continues to play like he has in the last two weeks, there's no way that will happen. Seems like he thrives on hard work and his football 'maturity' shows when compared to many of the draftees out of the u18 competition.
  2. I hope that by the time the next draft comes around, we will have forgotten that Lynch ever existed, and we will have seen enough development in Martin and Watts, and possibly Fitz and Gawn, to get us even more excited about the future.
  3. And another from me. It's early days, but in the last two weeks he has seemed to get caught less often in tight situations, and his disposal has definetely lifted a notch or two.
  4. 6. Frawley 5. Grimes 4. Jamar 3. James McDonald 2. Green 1. Davey
  5. I reckon they will manage Sam very conservatively. If he is fit I suspect he might play a half or a bit more with Casey ressies.
  6. I know it's a while back and the game has changed a bit in the interim, but Gerard Healy and Jeff Farmer both managed it for the Dees.
  7. You should be banned from Demonland for that post Nostra. My sides hurt and my eyes are watering from laughing, and my other half thinks I should be locked in a padded room.
  8. Go back 12 months you will find that a number of Demonlanders were calling for Bate to be dropped. I'm not sure if that was after a limited pre-season, but it certainly took quite a few matches for him to work into the form that eventually took him to 4th place in the Bluey. I guess the question that some are asking now, is whether he should be given time at Casey to find that form? I don't see the point in this, especially as there are no ready made replacements who warrant senior selection. Others have said that Bater does not have the attributes to be a KPP, and will be a stronger contributor playing off a flank with a couple of strong marking talls around him. I agree. I think it's more than coincidence that Bate's improved form last year coincided with the emergence of LJ and Robbo's return from injury.
  9. I can see what your theory is based on Ralphius. But on a less conservative note, if we can roll the Crows it might be an indication that our young group has a bit more 'maturity' than most of us give them credit for.
  10. Many thanks for the summary Chook. Reports like these provide the midweek 'footy life-blood' for interstate supporters.
  11. We're with you all the way Jimma ..... such an inspiration. A win against the Crows on Sunday would be great therapy.
  12. Russian has shown signs that he might be emerging as a top flight ruckman over the last couple of years, and yesterday he showed that he might have arrived. The challenge now is for him to remain fit and retain his form. The challenges for the footy club are to manage him so that he doesn't burn out (including developing a capable back-up), and to get his signature for 2011 and beyond.
  13. Jordie is an exciting prospect. Love his tackling and ball use. Should be a perfect complement to our emerging midfield gems.
  14. That was absolutely the highlight for me. A sustained four quarter effort.
  15. Chook, on 03 April 2010 - 06:41 PM, said: OUTS: Frawley Agree. I'm pretty certain that Frawley played mostly on Medhurst, who had no influence after a matchwilling performance the previous week. Frawley made a few errors but his run was typically excellent.
  16. Sylvia in for Bartram IMO. Bennell will watch the replay a few times, and get the message loud and clear. He added a bit of spark up forward, and dropping him will serve no purpose two games into the season. Strauss made a few defensive errors but also did some nice things, and he used the ball beautifully. He will gain confidence from getting games under his belt, and learn from his mistakes. Not sure of the situation with Rivers knee, but is there a spot for him if he's fit?
  17. Not injured. Cam Schwab said he was never going to play.
  18. A loss always hurts (especially against the filth), but pride was far and away my greatest emotion after the game today. A great team effort!
  19. 6. Jamar 5. Petterd 4. Grimes 3. Green 2. McKenzie 1. Davey
  20. Thanks Titan ..... we don't get this sort of stuff in Canberra. I'm in for the long haul, no matter how bleak things might look over the next year or so!
  21. Hey guys, that's the always conservative, balanced and pragmatic Rhino talking there!
  22. Sorry Cranky, but that statement just highlights your football naivete. You could say something similar about every coach who has ever coached a fringe player who was never going to make it. For God's sake, the best team in the AFL (with arguably the best coach) had Kane Tenace (drafted No. 7) on its list for 6 years before they delisted him last year. Back in July 2009 you said "There should be some sort IQ footy knowdge test to weed out some of the clowns who post here". Hmm.
  23. Thoughtful post Jimmi. It's all too easy to get caught up in the emotion of a bad loss. Much better to step back, take a deep breath, and look at the big picture in context. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
  24. Congratulations Brad. Rarely 'goes missing' in games even when we are soundly beaten ie. the mark of an excellent footballer by any standards.
