He's going fishing with pick 2 as bait and waiting to see who'll bite - I don't think they actually want to trade pick 2, it's just a tactic to get clubs talking to them about players. I have to agree it does appear to be a little too much of a display, perhaps looking desperate and inexperienced is designed to be part of the hook.
-
I don't know, Viney Snr might still be a little bit of a concern. He and Dewy probably shared a few in their time at Hawthorn
-
Good point, he does still come across as being very Swancentric - missing out on Dew might be the final necessary kick in the ass on the way out the gate There's definitely a fine line between having the inside running/ knowledge on players and coaches that you have worked with.... and that of thinking all the Swans guys are the Bees Knees just because he was involved with them all.
-
Absolutely, given it was the club's preference to get him for 5 years. Maybe the club isn't so disappointed with Dew's decision in the scheme of things. Would be interesting to know whether Roosy was insisting on a Succession plan as part of his conditions to signing on when the club may not have been so keen. I wouldn't want to pressure him though...he seemed pretty certain that it was no more than 3 years, and that's surely better than none
-
One things for sure, won't be seeing any trades between the Swans and Dees - Stirred up a hornets nest there
-
Fair point you make though, given that Sydney were carrying on, saying that Dew was not being offered a genuine upgrade in position. And if there was a genuine upgrade on offer to Dew, why has the Coaches association backed the Swans. More paper bags?
-
You mean Black to take over Dew's old role? If that were to be the case and Black took over Dew's old role as well as signing Dew and Buddy, then we really must be going up against some serious brown paper bag shenanigans.
-
Entirely possible - subterfuge aplently this time of year. We have all been very well conditioned into thinking Dew was the "Man" we wanted. Was this actually the case or was it designed to hide the clubs real intent on a Successor?
-
It seems now that Dew has signed on at the Swans, it will pave the way for Black to join the Dees as midfield coach/ Successor
-
I say go after Simon Black as the Successor (that's if we don't already have him lined up) Or even as an "on field" coach for 1 more year like Junior Mcdonald did with GWS - Should be able to draft him for a bag of peanuts Feels like the right kind of candidate to learn from Roosy for 2-3 years, and would be great for the young midfielders to learn from. A decision on his future in the coming days: http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/simon-black-denies-rumours-he-has-retired-and-will-join-sydney-swans-as-a-coach/story-fndv8d6r-1226736773198

Purely speculative.... How about the Sylvia compo pick (maybe 22) & Jamar For Bernie Vince & Jarryd Lyons - Instant midfield solution if the Dees rate Lyons - there has been a rumour linking him to MFC - Jamar gets to go back to Adelaide - and they might be trading out McKernan - A virtual swap of Sylvia for Vince - roughly equal value and same age - Get to keep all of our original high picks unless we trade pick 2 out

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS
Spin-it-to-Goodwin-it replied to timmyo64's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone feel free to photoshop me an image Roosy standing over this guy please http://commercial.aflphotos.com.au/photography/results/?q=mitch+robinson Of the Daniel Jackson variety -
That's an interesting point you make. In that case then you must see Butcher as a legit KPP and not an invent? Where do you reckon Butcher rates on the Legit KPP scales if Watts was a ten for instance?
-
Absolutely, but do you think he might get caught out a little for pace as a forward, seeing he is a little smaller?
-
Good point aswell. Are you pro Trengove or Morabito?
-
Here's a question? Do you think it possible that Morabito could actually be more suited to a forward role, given his x factor, speed, strength and marking. I noticed it mentioned elsewhere that he may be a little taller than 190cms or perhaps he is still growing. I wonder whether he has been played out of position this year. Whether intentionally or not - A W.A effort to keep the lid on him perhaps? If the Melbourne recruiters see him as an eventual forward option, maybe that adds further weight to his case at Pick 2. Anyone wonder the same thing?
-
You make a good case there and I share your views on Butcher –It seems a logical choice to take him in a combo with Scully, based on the fall of the cards in last years draft and needing to restore a little balance this year. I think you take too much of a risk waiting to see who falls through to 18th pick, and on the off chance that we do get access to another good tall at 18 – Go tall again. Good talls don’t seem to come around too often, a bit like a sea horse amongst fish. I don't buy into the view that he has dropped down the rankings based on his 2009 form. The talent that he showed last year (in a stronger crop of draftees) surely hasn't just disappeared overnight.
-
Interesting read and I felt obliged to share it despite my "read only" approach to Demonland. Dragon Train like Demons The impression I had about the Junction Oval Gym was that it was a little behind the times? Not sure if they have made any recent upgrades to the Gym at all, or if the Gym was simply never as sub-standard as it was made out to be? (I've never seen it myself) Either way, it's great that we can be sharing ideas this way, and with any luck (intention) the turn around in results and spirit that the Dragons have displayed this year might rub off a little on the Melbourne Players - If not simply the Goorjian factor.
-
No one noticed? He kicked 4-6 Really doing his name justice :D

Not YES or NO....Just your version of it Rhino - YES or NO?

Are you real, definite, in physical existence or capable of being touched? If so, your my tangible evidence....so would be Libba That's why I asked you the YES or NO question, of which you haven't answered. Do you know that they tanked?
