  1. It's getting quiet on this thread.....Anyone for Poker?
  2. In that case - I'll go and put a wager on us to win it then. Always bet against the ignorance of common man! <_< Can everyone please wait till tomorrow to follow suit, because I don't want the odds to go up, thanks :D
  3. True - Robbo is a proven commodity, you no what you are going to get. Does this also imply that people think the Dee's are not going to compete seriously for the NAB Cup? In that "lets play the youngsters"
  4. Good point, it's hard to leave him out! It's a bewildering response from people..... Possibly because Robbo "lost something" in the eyes of supporters when he got a little too friendly with the Bulldogs during trade week - I'd suggest it's an emotional response more than it being based on his playing ability. A subtle questioning of his loyalty to the club perhaps?
  5. DB is on record as saying that Wonaeamirri's most outstanding quality is providing defensive pressure in the forward half That may be where some have interpreted him as being a defender. I feel that the club has deliberately gone after Wonaeamirri as the type of player that can replace Byron and his qualities. Byron injected that similar element of defensive pressure in and around goals, and that was such a massive boost to the team when Byron arrived. You could pretty much build a side around these qualities I reckon, and we are in a good position to achieve this with Wonaeamirri, Weetra and Davey - all chasing down opponents and trapping the ball in the forward half. Newton has shown he is good at this too.
  6. I wish him all the best, it's not as if he he hasn't done well in the midfield before and I reckon he has at least one ripping season in him From memory, Yze was one of the players that really responded well to a change of coach ten years ago, so I wouldn't mind betting that this year may cause a similar result. So in finishing - Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue!
  7. It takes one to see one!.....An eye that it is As for Yze, are the medical staff keeping a good eye on him?
  8. I'm not sure....how would I know if I was - should I check my eyes? Just having a poke at it!
  9. In and out faster than the eye can see Don't blink or you'll miss it!
  10. If Yze is heading to retirement within time, perhaps we can groom him for the vacant forward scout position - He'd have a good eye for talent, surely B)
  11. But seriously, I think Yze is definately one to look out for this season!
  12. Are you sure Yze isn't a Kiwi, cause we could knickname him Hokey Pokey, or Hocus Pocus - cause someone put a spell on him
  13. At least these injuries are disclosed, and out there for everyone to see!
  14. I bet Yze didn't see that one coming
  15. You must be psychic Rhino? - Both Kerr and Yze injured (not disclosed)
  16. Well there is the answer...Mclean twisted his knee on Monday and is 50-50 for the Geelong game. Doesn't sound too bad
  17. Melbournefc article - All the details from the coach.... Young Dee's stake their claim - Today's practice match
  18. Carlton were icing the clock with just 10 secs gone in the first quarter - anyone notice?
  19. I'm a bit sceptical about all the talk, that clubs aren't putting genuine effort into winning games in the NAB Cup (Geelong included) Would a club actually come out and say that they are not planning on winning? It doesn't make sense ------ What is the ultimate "effect" from making these remarks? This from the same AFL community that denies the existence of tanking, drug abuse, behavioural issues etc - perhaps because they have an axe hanging over their head. I reckon clubs are becoming better liars than US stockbrokers - Don't believe a thing they say.
  20. "Dee's not in rebuilding phase" Bailey - Herald Sun The Age version - some more details This sounds pretty geniune from Bail's - and I reckon he's just about had enough of the negative talk The new guys set to debut in the NAB cup game is exciting - they must be impressing DB The Demon's are the real deal this year....forget about the wooden spoon talk.....we'll make the 8 easy!
  21. Your not alone there - So much so I'd swear they must have edited the original title Let it RIP oooze.
  22. And totally worth it - slow burn or not A lot of people will be suprised - It's amazing how far a bit of Fa Fang will go
  23. Exactly how is it detrimental? If they have nothing - then give them something, teach them...their keen enough Just like they said about the Irish experiment in 80's - Some of the best players I can remember watching came from that - They didn't have the skills when they came over Look at the types of kids clubs are recruiting nowadays, guys from other sports that haven't even played a game. If they are rookies...what's the risk? If these guys are athletic enough, adaptable to the skills of the game and have the drive to make it - then how can it fail?
