Tomas Bugg & Matt Buntine
Spin-it-to-Goodwin-it replied to Weekends at Bernie's's topic in Melbourne Demons
Isn't it nice that GWS want something that we have so bad, that they are going to have to walk over hot coals to get it. Once this happens, I'll forgive them for seducing Scully away from us, and setting us back years Let's hope there is someone in the recruiting department that hasn't forgotten. Bugg, Buntine & pick 12 doesn't cut it....back to the drawing board boys. -
I wonder if they'll be appointing a stoppages coach as well? In any case, Stone sounds like a good appointment. Good on you Georgie, rip into them.
-
Make it Ollie Wines and pick 13 for pick 2 and you've got a deal
-
Haven't heard anything.... It's a little hard to believe it given Hartlett is a SA boy, and also it's an exchange fraught with too much danger from Melbourne's point of view given Hartlett's dodgy injury history.

Great trade, well done MFC

Yeah, not sure what the turnoff is but it's there, mind boggles or not.... Maybe it's something to do with the way he has been non-committal to the world of coaching. Maybe it's something to do with the Synergy factor that PJ was talking about. Why do you prefer Ling?
-
Meaning he needs more coaching experience or a year or two to put up his feet? If it's the former, that didn't seem to bother Hird - He walked straight into the head coaching job without a 2-3 year apprenticeship, and has become one of the better coaches IMO Hayes has leadership experience from playing much the same as Hird did, and would get a couple of years to learn off Roos before taking the top job which Hird didn't. From all reports Roosy sees the "Synergy factor" as all important, so they might need to think outside the square a little. Simon Black's another I reckon they should be talking to...not as keen on Ling for some reason.

Read it somewhere a little while back, can't find link....sorry I think it was to do with GWS potentially passing on Tom Boyd.
-
GWS have shown there hand too much. We know how much they want Scharenberg and now we hold the upper hand given they need Sharenberg more than we need to trade pick 2. Having said that, I wouldn't be suprised if the AFL are pulling the strings in the background - Making it their priority to help us with our pick....wink, wink.
-
If for no other reason than having the pick before Collingwood
-
He's not joining anyone. Going to pursue something outside football.
-
Yep, that's the one - looks good doesn't he Almost like a beefed up Yze

Who's #12?

Any chance the compensations have been leaked to clubs but we won't hear till Friday? -
With you on that one - We don't know enough of the facts about what MFC has in mind Admittedly, they did say the Successor was going to be announced soon which now gives the impression of having failed. However, I am 100% believing of the uniqueness and steadfastness of Roos's position in his search for an heir - who is ever the innovator in his approach. 100% OK with that, even if it's unconventional.
-
Exactly....Eddie's love child only. The Pies will figure that out eventually - hopefully it takes them 10 years though
-
Thanks for that.
-
Did PJ say that did he?...is there a link to it anywhere? The first thing that comes to mind is what has happened at the Pies. Roos spoke about it as an example of a succession plan that has worked - I beg to differ on that one. It seems like it has been the most UN-smoothest of transitions from Malthouse to Buckley and this is an example of what could go wrong if they don't get the chemistry right.
-
Do you know if the Club or Roos holds the option on the 3rd year?
-
Is starting to look that way. Not all doom & gloom though, cos I reckon Roosy is being ultra selective and that reduces the field.
-
Anyone else think Lenny Hayes would be a good fit for successor next year? Not just having coaching & leadership potential, but the right type of character to gel with Roosy.
-
Looking at Freo's website and found this interesting little detail: Viv Michie Junior Clubs: Fitzroy Clubs: Fremantle Draft information: National Draft 2010, pick 44 Debut: Yet to debut Recruited from: Oakleigh Chargers Brownlow Votes: It's been rumoured that he wants to play under Roosy - I wonder if there is more to it and there is a connection to the Roy boys somehow.....or just a coincidence?
-
I think you'll find the article of the MFC website explains why. They are looking for a coach that has good synergy with Roos, and that would narrow the field considerably. Essentially, their criteria is more than just good head coach material.

Make it pick 20 for Vince & Myers and that might work - they just left off the 0
