  1. Don's are going to throw in a box of mystery vials as a sweetener
  2. Reckon you're on the money there - starting to believe we will keep our higher picks....get more talent....get good coaches around them. We should be setting ourselves up to win a premiership, as well as improve short term. I'll be entirely OK if the club only traded on picks 40ish or below. Pick up "Paul Roos style" bargain midfielders that are either looking for more opportunity, homesick or on the rise and seeking more cash than their current club can give. eg. Michie, Lyons, Myers If clubs want more than pick 40...next please!
  3. I think to part with pick 20 for Vince, the club would first have to be sure that he brings more to the playing group than just playing ability, such as leadership & work ethic. They're the intangible qualities that could potentially help make someone like a Toumpas into a star.
  4. I agree - especially when you could be passing on quality like Dumont, Jones & Dunstan These guys will go alright in their first year, and potentially give you 10 years of service
  5. Not sure if it's been mentioned yet....just noticed that Vince has the same manager as Polec Something's brewing http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/disgruntled-brisbane-midfielder-jared-polec-to-choose-between-adelaide-and-port-adelaide-this-week/story-fniv6co0-1226739231064
  6. There's no way Vince is worth more than our pick 20, his manager is kidding himself http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/adelaide-midfielder-bernie-vince-faces-several-options-ahead-of-possible-trade/story-fnahsgl5-1226739226771 I'd walk away from it if the price gets any higher, not worth it for someone you can nab next year for free
  7. An excert from Knightmare's phantom draft: #62 Essendon - Thomas Shanahan (WA – Mid) Height: 183cm, Weight: 75kg, DOB: 28/04/1995 Recruited from: East Perth Style: Player comparison: Range: 30-rookie Profile: Shanahan is someone who has really made a case for selection with some incredibly impressive production. He’s winning his own footy inside the contest but also finding plenty of it outside and linking up well. He’s a strong tackler and plays a solid two way game. He’s got excellent endurance and runs all day. He’s not the most damaging user of the footy and not a freak athlete but he’s still been exceptionally impressive and is deserving of selection.
  8. Tom Shanahan sounds alright http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-13/wa-bolters-emerge?utm_medium=RSS
  9. Could be a goer...would you give our 2nd rounder and Tapscott for Vince & Lyons? Bit of overs, and a third round would be unders
  10. Sounds like cracking deal for us - Instant midfield in exchange for an early 20's pick Might have to throw in a spud as a sweetener
  11. I take it you mean Melbourne the club, not the place?
  12. Would it be fair to say you're not that keen on pick 2 for Sloan? I have my reservations about it, unless we can get a pick 10-20 back somehow through a third party player &/or pick exchange
  13. There's a good motive isn't there?
  14. Anybody know how long Sloan has left on his contract? Is he a restricted free agent next year by any chance? Because Roosy's comments in this article might be enlightening as to why Adelaide might let someone of Sloan's calibre go. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-coach-paul-roos-says-clubs-could-start-trading-their-stars-early/story-fndv8pdq-1226735616834
  15. I suppose we'll see won't we - I don't think I mis-read it There was a strong rumour in the middle of the year surrounding pick 2, Adelaide & Sloan...just joining the dots
  16. Starting to smell as if we may have done a large deal with Adelaide, potentially trading pick 2 - Rory Sloan perhaps? "However AFL.com.au understands any deals that might involve the two Crows reaching Melbourne are quite separate and not part of a complicated package exchanging picks and players" http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-13/trade-wrap-sunday Vince & Lyons in a separate trade You have to think we would be trading out a player or two in order to lessen the impact on our draft position Wasn't Fitzpatrick rumoured to have been seen in Adelaide?
  17. So do you think that the draft hasn't ever been tampered with? Clean as a whistle?
  18. The pies also being master manipulators....with a key being Rendell's mentoring role he had with Grundy whilst in the SA u18's, and probably the other SA boys they drafted: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2012-06-17/draft-hope-a-matchwinner
  19. People will underestimate Scharenberg's value at their own peril - let's just hope it isn't us.
  20. Are you sure about that? Thought it was common knowledge that West Coast pulled a swiftey, by making things seem worse than they were
  21. So who are we believing that says that he is not a capable midfielder. Is it simply that he was played in the Backline during the year? Because if that's the reason everybody needs to go read the guide on how to pull off a Jack Darling stooge part 2 He's a star - potentially played out of position, potentially on purpose
  22. Could Scharenberg be the player the Dee's have lined up for pick 2, if a trade doesn't eventuate? Perhaps GWS know this and are wanting to tempt us off him with a trade of someone more developed. I also think we are bull-dusting about trading pick 2 out. My sense is that Scharenberg might go alright in the midfield, and is super talented with a build that will hold up to the hurley-burley way better than Kelly or Aish....even long term.
  23. If we can nab Dylan Shiel, I'll be forgetting about Stewy Dew pretty quick. If there is one team that can afford to let go of a young midfield talent it's GWS. By the sounds of it GWS are into Scharenberg in a big way so they would probably weigh up the relative value of Shiel & Scharenberg to their list when we offer them pick 2 for Shiel - They would lean towards Scharenberg I reckon. It's fair to say Shiel holds greater relative value to our list than Scharenberg, but I'm open to be convinced otherwise? Only sticking point is convincing Shiel to come to us.
  24. I reckon Josh Mahoney is doing a pretty good job actually - Very proactive If you have to, judge him when the trade period finishes and we get to see the fruits of his labour
  25. They're not biting at the moment....hopefully they'll pick up soon
