  1. For Carltank, perhaps going with Judd was the right choice, because they already had the nucleus of a high quality midfield in place. I say perhaps because I still think their backline is a little suspect - in terms of winning a premiership. For Melbourne, as exciting as it would be to have Judd in the red & blue # 3, what we would have probably traded away to get him may not have suited our aspiration to build a premiership list...and for that you need both class and depth.
  2. YM, a lucid insightful post. One for the scrapbook!
  3. Good point grazman. Even with a solid list it took Thompson a few years to get it right and under Clarkson the Hawks looked more like the "headless chooks" for 2 years. And as the game is becoming increasingly fast and unforgiving, a small gap in skills, decision making and confidence can mean the difference between a win and a 10 goal flogging. Bailey and co are trying to build a premiership list, piece by piece, its going to take time.
  4. It was an appalling act, he should get 4 weeks and relocated to Ferntree Gully!
  5. I'm with you...its a bit rough bagging a bloke who has 8 contested possessions Votes: 6 - Davey 5 - Green 4 - Rivers 3 - Bruce 2 - Bate 1 - Morton
  6. Port's experience and mature bodies were quite telling today. On the plus side, 7 goals in the last quarter...we are now one of the form sides of the AFL
  7. Not science fiction Enforcer24, its reality, and there is even technology that can, using biometric sensors, identify terrorists within a crowd. http://www.navon.com.au/news/allnews/08-05...terrorists.aspx Cool stuff.
  8. Well played Jaded. I looked at the Members polo myself...but Trinnie & Susannah said noooooo. Great to see the members scarf back.
  9. The NT news has an opinion... http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2009/04/0...95_ntsport.html
  10. Tis a bag that a rat tosses into btdemon. Very nasty visual image
  11. As a former Richmond & Collingwood player it only stands to reason that he has a balanced view of the MFC A.K.A A chip on each shoulder
  12. Behind me sat two Collingwood fans, one a true gentleman and his son, pleasant enough whilst being a stereotypically cycloptic pie supporter. "Cyclops" observed that whilst Davey was racking up a tonne of possessions - few of them were "hurting" the Pies, partially correct. So why play Flash there? At this stage of our clubs development I think its a fine idea. The more interchangeability / flexibility that our small forwards and midfielders have, the better. Small forwards can be swung into the game to gain possessions and more confidence, midfielders can rest up forward as well as on the bench - increasing our ability to run out a game.
  13. Fine observation pitmaster. Also note the tackle count at quarter time: Collingwood 14 Melbourne 4 We were leading the race to the ball.
  14. Fine obeservation pitmaster. Also note the tackle count at quarter time: Collingwood 14 Melbourne 4 We were leading the race to the ball.
  15. Stef Martin 7 Marks, 7 Spoils, negated the aerial threat well (as did Warnock). Most of the times he got caught out of position was when the ball was turned over by others whilst we were counter-attacking. Very exciting player, and will look even better when our silkier running HBF prospects (Grimes, Strauss etc) come to the fore.
  16. Great idea, Just wondering if the Hawk supporters will copy the idea by wearing gold coloured undies and eating a hot curry the night before?
  17. Apologies if this has been mentioned before...but what chances RudeBoy of getting the band together and putting on a special concert? (I admit I have no idea of how hard/easy or practical that would be).
  18. Perhaps it goes some way to redressing crappy fixturing and time slots?
  19. "AFL refuses to take missionary position lying down"
  20. Both have the "X" factor IMO Bennell is an elegant footballer, Jetta is a more the gritty type
