  1. Fits the Roos mould of mature age recruits perfectly. Would be happy to see him in a Demon jumper at the right pick and price.
  2. IMO Adam Simpson is the absolute standout. As much as I'm a Doc Holliday fan I cannot see Roos getting a group of assistants that all aspire to be head coach and then letting them have a gunfight O.K Corral style. It just doesn't seem Roos' style. Roos has said and others within the club have continually stated that an understudy will be appointed for many reasons including assurance that the players know who the coach/s will be for potentially the next decade. Stability (after years of confusion and mayhem) is paramount for this club to go forward and stay the course.
  3. Maybe not at the moment. But how do you think he would fair after 3 years with Paul Roos as his guide?
  4. Looks like the successor will come from a team likely to play in the grand final. As Josh Mahoney alluded to in the 'Watts close to signing' article today. So it looks like Burns may stay and take on the job at West Coast. Leaving Simpson from Hawthorn or a smokey in Brett Kirk who is currently midfield coach at Freo and by all reports is still close to Paul Roos. Possibly Tudor from Sydney too but less likely IMO. Exciting times ahead!
  5. Would prefer we trade for needs (True Mids) and any draft picks used on best available.
  6. Darren Jolly's comments on Paul Roos last year. I owe a lot to Roosy and the Swans. He gave me the confidence to turn into the player I am today. I remember a lot of the conversations I had with Roosy, but one in particular stands out that I had with him in round three of the 2005 season. I was pretty flat, playing ordinary footy and was focused on the mistakes I was making during games. He told me he didn't care if I made mistakes as long as I was having a crack. He spoke about confidence and how he would always give me the confidence to believe in my ability. His door was always open and he wanted me and all his players to come in and have a chat with him about anything. In the five years I was there, Roosy hardly ever lost his temper during or after games, but would tell you constructively the things you didn't do well and what you needed to work on. Players can put a lot of pressure on themselves and so it was truly inspiring to have a coach who would ease that pressure, give you the confidence to just play and not think about anything else and be constantly talking with his players and making sure he was up to date on how everyone was feeling. There's no secret why the Swans were successful in those years. We didn't have a team full of superstars, we just had 22 guys with an extremely strong culture playing their hearts out for each other and a coach motivating them and leading them in the direction he wanted us to go.
  7. I believe the reason he isn't playing a full time midfield role is because he needs to manage a knee problem. (Possibly degenerative)
  8. I think that will change for most supporters with Roos at the helm.
  9. When you have the fierce aggression for the one on one contest, speed and agility Hogan has I would say he would go pretty well. Certainly has versatility. Disposal by foot would be the main concern early on but Frawley is testament that this can be rectified over time. Leave him in the forward line unless critically needed down back would be my thoughts.
  10. Once again I agree wholeheartedly. People are misunderstanding my initial post and taking it completely out of context. Its only if Hogan flagged an interest to go home.
  11. Agreed. My initial post was simply intended to see what peoples thoughts were if Hogan wanted to go back west and to get the best from this crucial trade/draft period for us. This is truly our last double dip into the base of the pot if we get PP1
  12. Ok. Let me preface this with the fact that I 'do not necessarily' want to trade Hogan. Now, lets say Roos puts the heat on Hogan early about his intentions and thoughts on heading back west at the end of his contract and puts it to him that he could be negotiated in a trade if so. In the rumour/trade thread there is talk of Luke Shuey and Scott Selwood. Both Victorians. If we get PP1 this could be the scenario, instantly give our midfield a lift and keep our 1st round picks in the process. Trade Hogan + 2nd or 3rd rounder for Shuey & S. Selwood. PP1 - Boyd Pick 3 Aish Etc. Etc. Would hate to lose Hogan though. This hypothetical is only if he asks to go home.
  13. Firstly, I agree with much of what you are saying. Now..... Let me explain myself a bit more clearly. What I was referring to earlier was that most people at the start of the year would have thought it was pie in the sky thinking that we would have Paul Roos coaching us next year. Certainly not a realist but now we have at worst a 50/50 chance of it happening. So my reference to your realist statement is that yes it may be a long shot to get Adams with pick 19 plus a player but stranger things have happened. (The Roos scenario) and certainly not impossible with the lure of playing for a Roos coached team. Many factors could be at play. He may not get along with Leon Cameron etc. Although an outstanding prospect I also think people are getting a bit excited about him. He is not a star of the game. Not yet anyway.
  14. I was more referring to the scenario of getting Adams across with pick 19ish plus a player type of trade. Which I thought you were as well. More in line with the thread topic of Adams rather than Jamars worth on his own.
  15. Would be over the moon if we got those 3 or 4 players. Although I'd still like to get Aish in there somewhere too...
  16. So would someone have been classified as a 'realist' if, when we were getting squashed like mushy peas at the start of the season said 'don't worry everyone we'll have Paul Roos coaching us next year'?
  17. Everyone talks of Ross Lyon as a messiah but how many premierships has he won? I am sure that tactically there are other coaches out there that are as good, maybe better than Roos at half the salary. Roos record is up there with the best of them but it's not as much his game day tactics, win/loss record etc. that we need him at the club. Its everything else he will bring that is of the most importance. (Culture, unity, belief etc.) Hopefully the rest will follow.
  18. 11. What if Jack Watts doesn't approve of Roos?
  19. This may be way off but..... The potential consequences of waiting on Roos to make a decision - Eade pulls out (already happened), Craig accepts job elsewhere, Choco says 'if I wasn't a serious candidate in the first place why would I be interested now' etc. etc
  20. Hrmmm... If he says no people on here are gonna go from calling him the messiah to getting their voodoo dolls out!
  21. Indeed! I live for the day that we play like demons on and off the field.
  22. 9. If Roos fails, who would have the cohuna's to take over???
  23. It's not just dollars. We would have to deal with GWS in trade situation. I think that our second rounder would get him. GWS would have to deal with whoever his choice of new club is and if they don't concede somewhat then he could threaten to walk into the PSD and threaten to not 'turn up' if they took him with PSD pick 1. Guess who has pick 2 in the PSD?
  24. Classic!!!Would that make Roos the new 'Wiz'?
  25. Or Brisbane
